Zai

Since her forced retirement, one that had not yet happened was receiving word from the First Ascendant. So when she received a phone call from Captain Fesmir, she assumed it was because someone had finally gotten around to missing her.

She sat up in bed, since it was evening when she got the call. Amri still wasn't back yet, but she'd said she was leaving K'le's workshop almost two hours ago, so she was due back any minute.

"Hey, Colonel," Qal's voice sounded terrible. It had already been a bit smokey, but now it was like listening to cracking charcoal on top of that.

"Are you alright? What happened?" Zai asked.

"Well, I won my qualifier bracket, then someone tried to cut my head off with a wire," she chuckled. "Didn't take."

"Where are you? Are you safe?" Zai asked. She instantly started going through what she would need to fly out as soon as possible.
