[Chapter 531: A Successful Year]
Sophie Marceau's villa in Brentwood.
"Hmm," Sophie Marceau sighed against the sofa, while Arthur kissed Sophie Marceau's neck and caressed her chest through her unbuttoned blouse.
Soon, he moved down to her soft skin, leaving several kiss marks on her fair breasts!
"Arthur," Sophie Marceau said, getting excited as she rolled over onto him.
Before long, seductive music filled the room.
"Hmm," Arthur grunted softly in response, exhaling and sitting next to her.
"Honestly, Sophie, you have some characteristics that wouldn't make you suitable for a Russian woman," he remarked. "Anna Karenina isn't that big of a deal anyway!"
Sophie Marceau sat up, smiling. "Anyway, I don't plan to take that role, and I'd have to spend six months in Saint Petersburg!"
While speaking, she casually adjusted her clothes.
...
As the film Sense and Sensibility, distributed by Galaxy under United Artists, premiered, Christmas 1995 quietly approached.
Arthur specifically traveled from Los Angeles to Vancouver to spend Christmas with Vivian Chow.
In Vancouver's Chinatown, Arthur and Vivian Chow dined at a Chinese restaurant. Arthur commented, "The number of Chinese immigrants has really increased in recent years!"
"Yeah, a lot of people from Hong Kong are choosing to immigrate to Canada," Vivian replied knowingly, due to the impending handover in '97 and the immigration wave that followed.
Arthur glanced at the Chinese signs visible along the street outside and chuckled. "Vancouver is a city worth investing in real estate!"
Vivian looked up as well. "The real estate market in Hong Kong is booming right now."
"Did you invest too?"
"Yeah, I bought some stocks in real estate companies!"
Arthur nodded, "Hong Kong's real estate market is unstable. Don't hold onto them for too long, sell when it reaches a high point."
"Oh, okay. I didn't buy much anyway. The money I had was used for a house; I don't really understand stocks, so I usually wouldn't buy them," Vivian replied, clearly respecting Arthur's advice.
"Well, it doesn't matter," Arthur said, wiping his mouth after finishing his meal. "You're busy with albums, movies, TV shows, and commercial events in Hong Kong. How about taking a break? Vancouver's climate and living conditions are pretty decent!"
Vivian smiled. "This is my last drama for the year; I'll take movie offers if I like them. Right now, I'm not too busy. I'm focusing on music, and it's not like before when I had several albums in a year."
"That's good," he said, and soon, Arthur took Vivian Chow around the city.
...
Early morning in the hillside villa in Vancouver.
"Hmm, Arthur, I've got to go to Ottawa for a charity concert," Vivian Chow said while cuddling with Arthur in bed.
Surprised, Arthur looked up from kissing her chest. "Christmas just passed. Did they set it up in Hong Kong?"
"Yep, and there are other Hong Kong singers going too," she gently ruffled his hair.
"Alright, are you going straight back after that?" Arthur asked.
She nodded. "You'll be heading to Hong Kong after the New Year, right?"
As he caressed her soft skin, Arthur thought for a moment before saying, "Definitely -- I'll be spending some time traveling around Southeast Asia next year. Then I'll come find you!"
"Sounds good," Vivian Chow said, wrapping her arms around Arthur's neck and planting a sweet kiss on his lips...
...
In Los Angeles, on New Year's Eve, Galaxy threw a grand celebration at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
They were celebrating the tremendous achievements of 1995!
The film Get Shorty had a box office of $72 million domestically and $43 million abroad, totaling $115 million worldwide.
The film Species grossed $60 million in North America and $53 million overseas, bringing its total to $113 million.
The low-budget drama The Usual Suspects also managed to pull in $23 million.
The art film Leaving Las Vegas had now surpassed $15 million at the box office, and Sense and Sensibility, having premiered in Europe ahead of its U.S. release, reached over $50 million globally.
Although there were two films, Showgirls and Cutthroat Island, that flopped in the latter half of the year, they were still part of Carolco's production, right?
...
At that moment, in the hotel restroom, Cameron Diaz leaned against the wall while Arthur Smith behind her, moving.
After an unknown amount of time, the sultry Cameron Diaz moved leaning against the sink. "Arthur, you're still as impressive as ever!"
Arthur splashed some water on his face. "Now, you've made quite a name for yourself as well."
Cameron Diaz's sex appeal in Species was one of the film's highlights.
The 23-year-old Cameron Diaz is indeed outstanding in both figure and appearance. As a newcomer to Hollywood, she is certainly not shy about showing off her body.
"Okay, I'm going to go back to the cocktail party," Arthur's interest in Cameron Diaz was not great, it was the equivalent of a quick meal. As for maintaining the relationship, Arthur really didn't think about it. Cameron Diaz's private life is not simple!
"Well, next time you miss me, ask me out," Cameron Diaz responded.
...
After returning to the cocktail party, Amy Pascal found Arthur and talked about Jim Carrey.
"You mean, Jim Carrey has taken on another comedy project at Universal?"
"Yeah, the pay is also $20 million!"
Arthur didn't take it seriously, "How's the Dumb and Dumber 2 deal with him going?"
"We're still considering it," Amy Pascal said confidently, "But Jim Carrey really likes the script of The Truman Show. He's very willing to star in this movie and will reduce his salary!"
Arthur smiled, "Let's continue the discussion. We will also give him 20 million dollars for Dumb and Dumber 2. He already had a contract with us for a movie. It would be very risky to use him for a movie like The Truman Show!"
Amy Pascal nodded, "I'll ask director Peter Weir to talk to him when the time comes. I believe Jim Carrey's team will agree to our request."
After all, such a serious and meaningful script is not easy to find!
