After delivering her speech, Nina spoke no more but silently watched the countdown timer displayed on her mech's visor.
By then, thousands of drones had dispersed into every corner of the safe zone, automatically using thermal imaging to detect the presence of people in the buildings.
It was late summer, early autumn—hot outside during the day but unusually cool in the corridors.
If there were people inside the buildings, they could easily be spotted from their heat signatures.
Gradually, people started to emerge onto the streets.
However, many still stubbornly hid in their homes, clinging to the belief that the law does not punish the masses and that Nina wouldn't dare kill so many people.
