CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE - I'm going to beat every sumo wrestler in eating
"Hungry?" Asa echoed, and I held up a hand and then pointed my other one at the sky. "Today's the food festival!" The sky was bright above me, but in the distance, a city was glowing even brighter. almost as bright as my hands a while ago, I'd say. "You want to… go to this festival together?" Asa asked, and I nodded. "I haven't eaten in a week since the guards never bothered, so I'm going to faint if I don't eat anything. I was considering running away, but that just means my sentence would be extended if I got caught, so…. but it doesn't matter now that you're here," I said, stretching my legs. My stomach was having a cardio workout in my body right now. "Oh. I shouldn't stop you, then." Asa muttered, taking my hand.
"Let's go! We only have a limited amount of time before we both have to go back to our bing lives~" I said, dragging Asa down the trail.
The actual food festival was much grander. All the shops in town, food or not, gave out free items to attract more customers. A grand business opportunity, and, since neither of us had any money, a free feast. String lights were littered above our heads in glowing zigzags, and the stalls themselves were small and wooden. Almost instantly, I pounced on a free piece of pie, devouring it within two seconds. Asa gave me his as well. Next, tacos, ice cream, hotdogs, popcorn, juice, everything was single-handedly wolfed down by me. There was no stopping.
Soon, I patted my stomach as me and Asa now walked down the bustling, crowded streets. "Do you always go to such festivals, my lady? You seem used to it." Asa said, and I nodded. "I love festivals! I was dirt poor before, so.."
"Ah, right. I forgot you were a transmigrator." Asa said. "I wish I wasn't! Do you know how awkward it is to know someone from a past life, but they don't know you?!" I screeched, tugging on my hair. Asa was now looking at me pitifully. "Don't you feel lonely?" I do! Of course, I do, bro! "Not really. Because I meet new people every year! Also, I always keep my time with those people as a pleasant memory, since I can't go back so it's useless to waste my energy being depressed." I said, through a mouthful of pizza. Asa looked at me, and then said, with a small smile, "I won't forget you, you know. Angels have a good memory, and I'll still remember you next year since heaven works differently." Wow! Don't use your face against me like that, dude?
"Thanks, Asa."
