Meeting the Handsome Devil - 3

Raven analyzed her surroundings from the top of the stairs, completely fascinated by the club's aesthetic. There was a bar with various choices of expensive alcohol and mixers. Poles and dance floor circle around the room for dancers. A comfortable lounging area all around the rest of the room that could fit more than 200 hundred people in one room. The word LUX was capitalized with Hollywood-like light on the wall, with fancy lights stringing from the ceiling. The lights Raven expected to be neon were a fitting gold as they lit up the dark aesthetic of the club room. "Such a beautiful design, Mr. Morningstar," Raven said, walking down the stairs and noticing a handsome fellow playing the piano, silently mourning the loss of his friend. The piano had its section in the center as if the man publicly played songs for their guests. "Such an elegant taste in decoration," Raven said, being genuine as she walked towards Lucifer.

Lucifer looked up from his piano and at the women talking to him. Raven's hair was a beautiful silky black, and she put was up in a messy bun and wore a long beige trench coat that reached past her knees. The shoes were combat boots that gave her another inch in height and matched the black aesthetic of her outfit. The coat's fabric was thin, and the sleeves were rolled up to see bandages wrapped down her wrists. Lucifer can see the medical applications poke out from the top of her black turtle neck. Lucifer furrowed a brow at Raven's attire as Raven walked in his direction. "Don't you ever get hot in that attire?" Lucifer asked with a curious smile as he stood up from his piano stool and walked to the bar. "My body can withstand it. I want to ask questions about Delilah." Raven said, getting to the point while blankly replying to Lucifer's question. "Lucifer Morningstar, correct?" Raven started as she stayed next to the piano. "Are you a Detective?" Lucifer said, making his British accent more clear. Raven felt the hairs on the back of her neck prickle as she makes eye contact with his dark amber brown eyes.

"The best in the world," Raven said with a cheeky smile, but once it showed, it instantly diminished as she got back on topic. "Did you talk to the man that shot Delilah?" Raven was blunt about her question, not bothering to sugarcoat anything. Lucifer's interest peaked at the mysterious woman ahead of him as if a puzzle he never solved before stood in front of him. Raven looked at Lucifer and furrowed her brow as, for the first time, she couldn't comprehend what Lucifer was. Raven's instincts tell her that Lucifer is innocent but has many secrets. Lucifer has had practice with self-isolation. In Lucifer's case, he has mastered the art of camouflage. "Yes. I asked why he did it." Lucifer said, avoiding eye contact with her and pouring the right amount of liquid into his shot glass. Lucifer was genuine as he spoke. His accent was smooth and sophisticated, but Raven knew Lucifer wasn't the professional type. The shot glass looked made of transparent quartz as the wave of the glass made it look like it was twisted slightly to make the square glass a round top. "What are your relations with the victim?" Raven asked blankly as she made note that it was Lucifer who pulled Eddie's collar.

"Well, she used to work here a few years back. I would occasionally accompany her while she sang." Lucifer said, turning around with the beverage in his right hand and the bottle of bourbon in the other. Lucifer walked back toward his piano to take a seat on his piano stool, never leaving eye contact. Raven kept analyzing him, not out of desire but as If she was trying to understand a new mystery. "She became a big star, and someone wanted to end her life," Lucifer said softly, but Raven noticed how Lucifer worded that line. Lucifer knew that Eddie was sent to murder Delilah. "Eddie Deacon was the man that pulled the trigger at your friend Delilah, but I think you already know he did as told like a wounded dog following orders from its owner," Raven said with an interested smile confident in her words. "Seems you're not a goldfish after all," Raven said, hopping on top of the piano, giving some distance from Lucifer. Raven sat with her legs crossed, making herself comfortable. "You have some experience in this line of work. I never met anyone so genuine and honest while having such a delectable mystery behind your mask." Raven said with a smile, entirely fascinated by how Lucifer can isolate his genuine emotions enough that Raven must read between the lines.

"What irks me is how Delilah was shot with a rain of bullets, but you end up with a new change of clothes and no wounds. I mean, you confessed you talked to Eddie after she died. Proving my point that you were indeed next to Delilah enough to catch her as the bullets hit her. The smell of cologne and freshwater shows me you cleaned yourself up before the police arrived." Raven said as she rambled her deductions of what she learned about Lucifer's attire. Lucifer noticed the small mind game she was playing. Raven held her head high and changed her entire personality just to be able to puzzle Lucifer into a trap. Lucifer stayed silent, impressed at the level of intelligence this woman had presented. Her deductions came out smoothly and well-educated while adding a touch of excitement to her voice. The story of sophistication and confidence was radiating off her like the heat of a burning flame. "Perks of being immortal," Lucifer said, taking another swig of his beverage.

Raven covered her mouth, hiding her smile, "You're joking." Raven said with a small laugh. As she analyzed Lucifer, her laughs died out when she realized, "Oh, you're serious." Raven said, rolling her eyes as her smile faded. Lucifer takes another swig of his beverage, emptying the shot glass. Lucifer raised a brow, signaling a quiet yes, as he swallowed his drink. "What will your corrupt little organization do about this?" Lucifer said, looking at Raven with a curious yet mocking smile. Raven had a genuine chuckle as Lucifer continued feeling offended about your reaction.

"Will they be punished? Is this a priority for you? Because it is for me." Lucifer said, a bit annoyed. His voice showed genuine anger, yet he was curious about what Raven would do in this case. "Ah, I see. I understand your concern, but do you have any connections with anyone who sells drugs? I know you do from the strong smell of drugs in this room alone. Naturally, heroin is an odorless drug, but made in a certain way, it smells like sour vinegar. Depending on your connections, I can match the drug and another pattern connecting Eddie Deacon and the person who hired him to murder your friend." Raven said as if that fact was common sense.

Lucifer chuckled as he poured another glass of bourbon, keeping quiet as he had no reason to snitch out his dealers. "I see you're a loyal man. So you don't have to answer that question as your silence answered it for me." Raven said as she got the information she needed. "How have we not had sex?" Lucifer said, changing the subject to fascinated and curious about the mystery that sat on his piano top. Raven's reaction to Lucifer wasn't a flustered and embarrassed face; no, it was more like a mixture of distaste and apathy for what Lucifer said. Raven hopped off the piano with a soft landing as if she wasn't heavy enough to make a loud enough impact as she landed on her feet. "Good day," Raven said, no longer interested, as she walked towards the staircase to leave the building. Lucifer grabbed ahold of Raven's wrist in a gentle yet stern fashion before she could make it far. "Detective, wait! Someone out there needs to be punished! We're not done." Lucifer said, a bit frustrated and concerned that the man responsible won't be held accountable for their crimes.

"You don't know who you are talking to, Lucifer. I wasn't lying when I said I am currently the best in the world. Please keep that in mind while I work on your case. Now if you will, I have work to do." Raven said with obvious annoyance as she made Lucifer let go by lightly jerking her arm back from Lucifer's grip.
