Chapter 6: I got a name?

After taking in my surroundings I attempt to figure out the motor controls for this new body. And as I suspected, walking on all fours is easy but also difficult. While I can stand with ease due to having many points of contact on the ground I keep tripping over myself when I try and take a few steps forward. Having so many legs is literally tripping me up.

Suddenly, Jarvis speaks up, "Your in charge Carl, if you need me just bitch and moan like you did before and Ill direct my attention to you. I need to prioritize understanding this new body and analyzing all this amazing new data I'm getting"

"What? Hey, dont leave me alone, I cant even feed myself, talk or understand what that little girl said"

"Ahh, alright. Ill dedicate a tiny portion of myself to translating anything you hear automatically. Since you cant talk anyways it should be a great help. While I'm away try not to disturb me, I'll be attempting to increase our prowess as best I can while I go through everything."

"Fine.." I grumble "But you better be productive since I'm going to be keeping us alive"

"Pfft.. Yeah, Im sure Ill be doing way more than you anyways! hahaha. Ill be back" He laughs. I can feel his presence fade by a large margin but it still remains in the back of my mind.

While I've been screwing around trying to figure out how 4 baby legs work the little girl can be seen sprinting out of the cabin back in my direction. Walking out of the cabin a bit behind her are a few others, a couple in their late 20's to early 30's and a young boy around the age of 5 I assume based on his stature.

"Mom! Mom! Look! I told you it wouldn't die! Look, hes all better!" The little girl yells back to her family

[Wow, that translation is fantastic. Thank god I atleast got this little cheat] I think to myself while evaluating this interaction.

Ela, the girl's mother yells back, "Ashley, calm down! We are on our way, not everyone has your boundless energy."

"Awww, woooow. He's standing already!" Ashley says while kneeling next to my crate-bed

"Amazing, I figured it would pass away from its wounds…" Grant muttered under his breath, imagining the horrid wounds the wolf had not 5 hours ago. Broken ribs, scratches, possible internal bleeding… It was far from pretty. Out of sincerity, Ash insisted on taking care of the little cub despite its injuries.

Almost immediately Ela elbows Grant in the kidney, "Shhhh! What if Ash heard you!?" Wide eyed, Grant motions to zipping his mouth closed. "But it is amazing.. What happened to its injuries? The little pup seems perfectly fine now."

"Mooom! Come meet Kaido! Hes going to be part of our family now." Ash yells at Ela, threatening to deafen me in the process. She has already picked me up under the front legs and dangling me like a rag doll.. [How does she not know this isnt comfortable in the least? Wait, Kaido? Is that my name?]

*Name confirmed: Kaido*

"You little shit Jarvis, change it to Carl!" I internally beg only to receive silence.

"Ash honey, you shouldn't hold him like that. You might aggravate his wounds. You wouldn't want to hurt little Kaido would you?" She says while attempting to placate Ash. Immediately Ash's eyes go wide and hurriedly put me back in my crate-bed I had been residing in before.

By this time the entire family has gathered around me with differing expressions. However, thankfully none of those expressions had even a trace of hostility as far as I could tell. [Hmm, maybe obtaining food won't be too hard if I embrace the pet role for a while] I begin thinking to myself. With the thought of food my tail I have yet to learn how to control begins to wag. [Traitor!] I internally yell.

"So honey.. What do you think we should do with little.. uhh.. Kaido here now that he appears to have recovered." Grant tentatively asks his wife with a concerned glance

"Haaaaaa" Ela exhales.. "I guess we have to.."

Just then Ivan, Ash's little brother who has kept quiet till now speaks up abruptly. "So fluffy! We're keeping him right?! I want a pet Mom."

"Please Mom.." Ash echo's

Ela and Grant flash concerned looks at each other… before giving into the pleading looks of their two children, "Yes, little Kaido can join the family. But we need to train him. Thats a wolf, you know Ash. A full grown beast like that could easily kill you. If he harms you in any way we will have to send him back into the forest or put him down" They explain in an imposing manner that leaves no room for discussion.

However, none of that serious transferred to Ash or Ivan as both of them pick me up again, squeezing me in a group hug thats threatening to break those ribs I heard fractured previously. I wine and yelp in an attempt to get some oxygen.

"Ash! Ivan! Be careful" Ela shouts while pulling me away before putting me back into my makeshift bed-crate.

Grant follows up with a wide grin, "Alright, its getting late. Lets take Kaido back inside and get him situated to his new home"

And so my first day as a wolf came to be.
