An Apocalypse Survival Story

I, Apex, an unassuming college student, unwittingly became a survivor. My once-mundane life transformed in the blink of an eye as zombies suddenly appeared around the globe. During an ordinary lecture, I witnessed fellow students turning into flesh-hungry monsters, igniting a chaos that seemed relentless. Stressed and with no one to rely, I found myself thrust into this nightmarish world, struggling to survive alongside a small group of survivors. Together, we faced the relentless hordes of the undead, scavenged for supplies, and sought refuge in a world that had crumbled around us. My journey, as an ordinary person thrust into extraordinary circumstances, became a test of resilience, resourcefulness, and the unbreakable bond of humanity amidst chaos. The question remained: Could we navigate this new world, find safety, and perhaps uncover the secrets behind the zombie apocalypse? SINCE NO ONE'S READING IT, I'M GONNA STOP WRITING NOW!!

My GF turned into a Zombie

I'm Apex. Last names doesn't matter much now. Once, I was just an ordinary college student, and I have to admit, I was incredibly fortunate.

It all started on a seemingly average day. I was sitting next to my new girlfriend whom I loved calling Su, and we were both embarking on the exciting journey of our college careers.

Suddenly, a commotion erupted outside our classroom, capturing our attention. What we saw was beyond horrifying—men tearing into another man's neck.

The sheer brutality of it all was sickening, with those men mercilessly pushing their victim to the ground and gnawing on different parts of his body.

Su, who usually had an easygoing personality, couldn't contain her terror. She clung to my hand, her body trembling.

I wasn't much of a movie buff or an entertainment seeker, but I recognized the signs—the vacant eyes, the insatiable hunger—they were unmistakably those of zombies.

Despite the shock, my initial reaction was to seek help from our professor.

Just as I turned towards the front of the classroom, a student from the first row leaped at our teacher, sinking his teeth into the closest hand he could reach. The professor cried out in pain and collapsed to the floor.

Amidst the chaos, unintelligible cries filled the room. Students turned on one another, biting and clawing at arms, legs, shoulders, necks—no part of their classmate's bodies was off-limits.

In that nightmarish moment, I knew it was time to escape; a zombie pandemic had begun.

I glanced at Su; she was still clutching me, her eyes haunted by the gruesome scene we had just witnessed.

The air was thick with the sounds of blood splattering, muscles tearing, skin rending, teeth gnashing, and other horrifying noises that came in a cacophonous chorus.

"We need to run, as fast as we can," I whispered into her ear. My voice was urgent, my heart racing.

Helping Su to her feet, I motioned for us to navigate through the chaos. She was terrified but stood up to follow me.

Just as we made our way out of our two-person bench, a zombified classmate turned toward us and began shuffling in our direction, emitting guttural growls.

He was the only one, but his cries attracted the attention of everyone else. I couldn't afford to linger in the classroom for even a single second longer. I raised my foot and kicked him in the chest, sending him stumbling to the side, and then I sprinted outside the classroom.

Our seats were just two benches away from the door, so we managed to escape relatively easily, but not without a row of zombified classmates following closely behind us.

Once outside, I saw other students running frantically down the hallway, desperately trying to escape the zombies who had already taken control of the corridor.

"We need to jump through the eaves, can you do it?" I asked the now less fearful Su, though her fear still clung to her like a shadow.

"I can't," she stammered, "Can't we just run through the hallway to get home? I want to go home, see my mom!" She almost cried, her face twisted in fear.

I tried to convey the gravity of our situation, "Listen, this is our only option. We can't afford to stay here. As you can see, they're closing in on us. It's either we jump or face this nightmare alone."

"I... I'm scared of heights, please, not the eaves!" she pleaded, her voice trembling.

I scanned the hallway behind us; the zombies were drawing closer. There was no time for indecision. "Be careful," I said one last time, and then I turned to run toward the only escape route available—a four-foot railing on the third-floor eaves.

A slow-moving zombie approached from the side, and I easily brushed it aside. It struck me then; these zombies were far stronger than ordinary humans.

As I was about to jump over the railing to the narrow three-foot eaves below, my eyes caught a long iron rod lying nearby. There were other building materials scattered about, but I didn't want to dwell on them. I grabbed the iron rod, tucking it under my arm, and then made the leap over the railing to the eaves.

A piercing scream echoed from behind. The eaves were slightly lower than the railing, allowing me to peer into the hallway above.

What I saw was a nightmare come to life. My girlfriend was now the victim of a brutal attack, surrounded by zombified students. Their empty eyes and relentless hunger painted a gruesome picture.

There was no sign of blood or visible wounds on them. It could only mean one thing: something had transformed them, either through physical contact or from within.

Unable to tear my eyes away, I watched in silent horror as they tore into her flesh. Sweat dripped from my forehead, my hands went numb, my heart pounded like a drum, and my entire body shook. Despair filled my thoughts as the grisly scene played out before my eyes.

She stopped screaming a couple of agonizing minutes later. Her body convulsed, and black liquid gushed from her mouth. She rose from the ground, her movements no longer human, and joined the ranks of the undead.

The other zombies, as if satisfied, dispersed and continued their relentless search for prey.

My girlfriend had become one of them.

The hallway in front of me was a scene of chaos and horror. Other students were still running, trying to escape the relentless pursuit of the zombies. It was a futile effort; there was no escaping this nightmare.

I had to make a decision. I couldn't stay on the eaves forever. My survival depended on finding a safe haven, but I had no idea where to go. The world outside had descended into madness, and I was just one man against an army of the undead.

With a heavy heart, I made the painful choice to leave my girlfriend behind. She was gone, and there was nothing I could do to bring her back. I had to focus on staying alive.

Starting a new novel after so long.
