Her name was Maria Marigold.

As the first daughter of the Marigold family, she has a duty to upkeep, that is to prove herself to be worthy to become the next head of the family.

The Marigolds used to be the second largest family in the country, but due to an incident, they were quickly overtaken by the Aconites.

And it was also that incident that had taken away her dearest.

The reason why she wanted to become the best mage was because of a promise she made with him.

He was a prodigy, and was able to use a lot of different elements of magic at a young age.

And he was the one that inspired her to take on magic in the first place.

His name was Karmeson Tiefrot Scarlet, the second child of the king.

When he was about to left on a mission, he and her made two promises.

He promised to return by her side.

And she promised to become stronger than him when he did.

After that, he went missing and never returned.

But, she believed he's still out there somewhere.

That's why, along with fulfiling her promise, she planned to spread her name across the continent so he would know that she had succeeded.

And then, that person came in and ruined everything.

The person whose name was Nayari.

Upon seeing his test results, she was surprised.

"How?" Was the first question that popped in her head.

When she took the test, the highest she could get was in the Light element with a Rank S, but every other ones were all A.

And then him.

His basic elements's rank were all S.

A nobody like him actually got more talent than her?

No, she did not care about where he came from, but this make her a bit excited.

Being on the top without anyone being able to match her was getting boring.

He could be a worthy rival, she thought.

But that idea was shattered when he joined the Warrior Division instead of the Mage Division.

And that upset her immensely.

Why does someone with high talent like him did not join the Mage Division?

Later that night, when she sneaked out of the dorm to practice her magic, she heard a ruckus in the Warrior Arena.

As she came to see, she saw the white-hair boy and the other new student, Lilith.

She then saw a shocking scene.

Nayari was undressing Lilith, with Lilith's face turning bright red.

They were speaking about something she couldn't hear, but that scene had awakened something inside her.

Could this be...the things that everyone calls BL (Boys's Love)?

As she get closer to hear what they were saying, she managed to hear something unbelievable.

"...I used to be a wandering pharmacist..."

Eh?

Nayari, a pharmacist?!

"Let's go back to our room. Your condition will worsen if stayed like this."

As he picked up Lilith and carried him away, she began putting the pieces together.

"So he was actually checking up on him because he have some kind of illness, I see... Like hell I'd believe it!" She thought to herself.

But if it was true, then this would be a very valuable information to her.

But she did not get her hope high up, as countless pharmacists had came and went without being able to do anything.

The person she wanted to find was the one everyone called "Nightingale".

He was said to be able to cure any type of illnesses, and had saved hundreds of people.

But he disappeared from the public a year ago, with no one knew where he went.

The only information she had on him is that he had white hair which is tied into a ponytail, which matches the description of Nayari.

As she thought more about it, the more sense it made to her.

Could it be that, Nayari was actually Nightingale, who disappeared because he has to go to school?

It couldn't be, right?

She decided to return to her room and rest, leaving the matter for tomorrow.

Unknown to all three of them, there were a fourth person hiding nearby...

Lilith explained to Nayari that one of the reasons why she failed to fend off the soldiers was because of her illness.

Because of it, she already had to put a lot of effort into running away from the soldiers, so to put an actual fight against them was impossible.

It was due to Nayari that she was saved, but it's also because of it that he got involved with her.

As Nayari wiped the sweat on her body, because he had no ulterior motives that she allowed him to do it, he asked her a question.

"I've been wanting to ask, why are you here in the human kingdom in the first place? Aren't you afraid of the human that wanted to harm you?"

Upon hearing the name, he suddenly had a light headache that put him off balance for a bit.

"H-Hey! Nayari! You're okay?! You're the one taking care of me here!"

"Ah. No, I'm fine. It's just...I've heard that name somewhere before."

"Really?! Ach!!"

She suddenly get up in a rough manner which ached her body.

"You fool! Lie back down! I'm not done yet!"

"Ah. Sorry..."

As she lied down, she continued asking.

"So...do you know where he is?"

"...No...But that last name, doesn't it belong to the Royal Family?"

"Eh?!"

"Wait, you didn't know? Every member of the Royal Family has a last name of Scarlet, and has been the most influencial family across the country. I can't say the same about the size of the family though, as unlike many other families that have a big family tree, the Scarlets only have one as they usually only birth one child. Even though this king already has two kids, and the third one has already been borned..."

"...So that means?"

"The person you're looking for has a high chance of being someone belong to the royalty."

"Ehhhh?! Ach!!"

"I told you to lie down!"

"Sorry!"

"...So, what will you do now?"

"What can I even do? Me, a demon, wanting to meet the king of the human is impossible."

"Welp, I'm done. Good night. Please refrain from doing any sudden movement for a week or two. We'll go and buy some ingredients to make your medicine tomorrow."

As Nayari had lent her his lower bed, he climbed up and slept on her bed instead.

"...Thank you."

Lilith's face slightly blushed as she said.

"You're welcome."

And the night returned to its quiet state.
