The Phoenix

Mana surged through the burned forest into a singular point. Eventually the mana formed a small white flame floating in the air.

Around that flame a human body formed from the excess mana. The person who formed was a beautiful young woman with vibrant red hair. The girl looked around with a face full of confusion.

"Where am I?" She said out loud without realizing it. Examining her surroundings she made sure she was safe. However she felt something wrong with her body.

Looking down at herself she didn't recognize her body. "Isn't this... a human's body?" She thought

"Nonononono, this can't be!! Being in the body of such a inferior creature!!!" she cried

"Give it back! Give my beautiful body back!"

As she continued to cry about the injustice, she didn't notice a small fairy-like creature surrounded a red aura. The creature looked at the young girl with interest.

This creature was actually a spirit of fire. While exploring the world this fair suddenly felt a surge in mana in the distance. The spirit felt a strange attraction to the area where the mana surged.

Following this attraction the spirit flew over to the area where the mana surged. When it got there it saw a young girl that seemed to be human crying about something. However it felt that the girl was not human at all.

Flying up to the girl the spirit looked down and said "Hello, are you okay?"

Startled by the strange creature that suddenly talked to it the girl jumped up and quickly backed away.

"W-w-Wh-what are you?" The girl asked wearily.

"What? you've never seen a spirit before?"

"A spirit? What's a spirit?" the girl asked.

"You're looking at one. But never mind that, what are you?"

"Me? I'm a respectable crow! A creature of superior intelligence... Or I was... Now I'm one of those useless creatures."

"Useless? First of all those creatures are called humans and second humans are one of the most intelligent species on the planet. In fact crows aren't even close on that list you know."

"What?" The girl asked shocked "Hahahah... That can't possibly be true. Those creatures are so stupid they basically give out free food, they just leave it on the ground and others just give us their food for free..."

"That's because during those times humans didn't need that food, they didn't care about the food on the ground and thought of it as disgusting. Furthermore the humans who gave out food to you were just giving you their leftover scraps."

"Noooo!!!" The girl wailed in despair "My life is a lie..."

While the girl wept once again the spirit examined her body. The spirit was shocked to find that her body was filled to the brim with mana. But even more shocking was the small white flame where her heart would've been.

The spirit had never seen something like this in all its seven years of life. The spirit following its curious nature decided to observe this creature for awhile.

"Hey girl, what's your name?" the spirit asked.

"N-n-name? sniff* What's a name?"

"You don't even have a name? Okay then from now on your name will be Alilith meaning white flame in the language of mana. Though I guess you know that cause that's what you're speaking right now."

"What's the language of mana? I've been speaking normally like I always did as a crow.?

"Crows don't speak the language of mana. I guess you're speaking it instinctively like us spirits do at birth. Interesting." The spirit replied getting more interested in this girl. "Anyway what are you? I've never seen anything remotely similar to you before. You look like a human but you're clearly not one nor are you a crow."

"I thought I turned into a human though..."

"Hmm... Here take this." the spirit said while taking a wrist band out of her bag. "While humans don't know the most about mana their ingenuity with it is greater than the spirits. This is a device the humans created to analyze someone's soul and display their abilities numerically. They said it was like a 'video game' whatever that is."

Taking the device Alilith didn't know what to do with it. However she liked how it looked it was shiny and reminded her of her prized possessions.

Not knowing what to do Alilith tried to bite the wrist band. only to be stopped by the spirit.

"No! You idiot! Don't eat it, put it on your wrist." The spirit shouted

Putting on her wrist she was shocked to see a translucent blue screen appear in front of her and she once again jumped back only for it to follow her.

"The screen is part of the device Alilith just read it." The spirit sighed in slowly beginning to doubt this girls intelligence.

Listening to the spirit Alilith warily looked at the screen.

Looking at the screen Alilith was confused. She could read and understand the writing but she didn't know what these attributes, skills, or numbers mean. The spirit, seeing that Alilith was confused explained what her status meant.

" Alilith, your status tells you what your abilities are and what you are. First off your name as I've already said is Alilith. Next your species is phoenix... I've never heard of a phoenix before... Anyway, after your species is your level which is a sort of indicator of how strong you are which I'll explain after this."

"Then is your form which is a attribute not everyone has. Only those with a transformation skill have that."

"Next is health which is the amount of life force you have. If it hits zero you are dead. By the way 100 is the average amount for an adult human."

"Mana is the amount of mana you have in your body. If that hits zero then you will pass out from mana exhaustion. Though you have a oddly high amount of mana in your body for someone at level one."

"Strength is the amount of physical power you have. You have a normal amount of strength. 10 is the average stat points for all adult humans by the way."

"Agility is how fast you are and reaction speed."

"Resistance is how much physical force you can endure."

"Vitality is how much life force you have and how fast your health regenerates."

"Dexterity is how coordinated you are with your body. Your dexterity is low right now which makes sense because you were a crow and now you're in a humans body."

"Intelligence is slightly more complicated because its not only controls how much knowledge your brain can contain but also your magical attack." 'She has a surprising amount of intelligence for how she's been acting' the spirit thought.

"Wisdom is the practical application of your knowledge and also determines your mana recovery speed. This basically means that intelligence is like having the pieces of a puzzle but without wisdom you can't put it together."

"Magical resistance is how much your body and soul can resist magical attacks."

"Attribute points is something ill explain when I explain levelling up."

"Next are skills, skills are your abilities to put it simply. Such as magic skills or [swordsmanship]. There are a lot of skills that people have. If you want to find out more about your skills you should tap them on the screen."

Clicking on the screen Alilith saw the description for her skills.

[The embodiment of the phoenix, Alilith's, soul. Absorbing special flames can cause the body and soul to evolve.]

[The aptitude for fire. Causing the creature who has this skill to learn fire related skills easier. Can evolve further if conditions are met.]

[Resistance to basic fire. Can evolve further if conditions are met]

[Basic Heat Resistance Lv Max]

[Resistance to basic heat. Can evolve further if conditions are met.]

Looking at the skills there was one that clearly stood out to Alilith and the spirit. [Soul Flame]. The spirit was shocked once again. She had never seen such a skill.

Though it was possible for creatures to evolve it was never a skill and was always by luck.

This went against all her knowledge of evolution.

'A phoenix must be a special creature.' She thought 'It even has the [mythical Creature] title.'

"Last but not least!" the spirit stated "The titles! Titles are things that are given to people that accomplish a special feat. Sometimes they give special benefits. To check your title tap the title."

[Title given to those who are born as or evolved into a mythical creature. Having this title gives 10 bonus attribute points per level.]

'Life is unfair' Lamented the spirit "If only I was born a phoenix. Why must I suffer?!'

"Moving on, now I will explain levels and attribute points. To levels are determined by how much spiritual power is in your soul and body. To gain spiritual power you have to absorb it by killing creatures. That spiritual power is absorbed into the soul."

"The excess spiritual power in the soul is what attribute points are. The device I gave you will use the excess spiritual power to 'upgrade' a certain part of your body. You can do this without the device but its much easier to let the device do it."

"Now do you understand the status?" The spirit asked

"Yes, thank you very much... What's? your name?"

"Oh yeah, my name is Lao. Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you Lao." Alilith smiled brightly

"Now lets go." Lao said

"Where?"

"To level up!"

Ali means white in the language of mana and Lith means flame/
