After The Heroine Vanished

Who is the real heroine? The Transmigrator who changed the story of her favorite romance fantasy novel by marrying the hero for her survival, or the Original(OG) Female Lead who thinks the Transmigrator--- a grown woman possessing the body of a child--- is creepy for marrying the underaged Male Lead? Who is YOUR heroine? The Transmigrator who swears to divorce the Hero once she saves up enough money to run away, or the OG Female Lead who believes the Transmigrator won't be able to escape from the obsessive Male Lead? This is the story after the heroine vanished, and guess who disappeared between the Transmigrator and the OG Female Lead?

FIRST NIGHT PRANK?

[SHE REALLY sent it, huh?]

Diether was now convinced– Sonata, his legal wife, was crazy.

To be honest, she left the study where his crazy legal wife forced– er, asked the spy maid to write a long excerpt from an erotic book. After all, it was weird to hear Sonata casually saying vulgar words, especially the private parts of a man.

"My lord, may I say something that might sound rude towards the little madam even though it's a compliment?"

That was Axel, the vice-commander of their family knights, asked.

Diether raised an eyebrow at his childhood friend. "You may. But if I deem it insulting to Sonata, then we'll come clean to her and apologize."

Well, he knew that his childhood friend wasn't the type of person to badmouth other people.

[Axel is the type to insult you straight in your face instead of talking behind your back.]

But Diether also knew that Axel was fond of Celeste, so he was being cautious in order to protect his new wife's dignity.

"I swear I mean this in the best way possible, my lord," Axel said, obviously holding back his laughter. "But the little madam definitely has a few loose screws." This time, the knight laughed out loud while clutching his stomach. "She's so funny!"

Okay, that wasn't insulting.

Whew.

[Even I thought Sonata is crazy.]

And, yeah, a little funny.

"I can't believe the little madam really asked the spy to send a vulgar "report" to Princess Mikaela!"

Diether told Axel about how Sonata "punished" Leslie– the spy.

[After all, I asked him to see if Leslie really sent the letter to the messenger that Mikaela sent in secret.]

"But will the little madam be alright, my lord?"

"Princess Mikaela won't be able to complain since she planted a spy in our estate," Diether said confidently. "That's a bigger crime than Sonata sending her a vulgar letter. We can argue that my legal wife is just playing a silly prank– just like how Princess Mikaela claimed that she was just playing a prank on Celeste when she was bullying her before."

Axel nodded in agreement. "It seems like the little madam has the power to put Princess Mikaela in her place."

He nodded eagerly. "Right?"

"And you seem very fond of your new "legal wife," my lord."

"Right–" Diether agreed easily before he caught himself. He cleared his throat before correcting his previous statement. "I mean, Sonata and I have mutual respect for each other. Is that wrong?"

"You don't have to sound defensive," Axel said, chuckling. "But is it true that you and the little madam will share a room tonight?"

Oh, about that…

***

"DID YOU just put a dagger under your pillow?" Diether asked in disbelief. "Did you insist on spending our "first night" together because you're planning to assassinate me?"

To be fair, he knew his accusation was ridiculous.

But he was so surprised to see Sonata putting a dagger under her pillow as soon as he entered their bedroom that he suddenly uttered nonsense.

[Is that one of her "pranks" again?]

"I have nothing against you, but it won't hurt for a lady like me to be extra safe," Sonata said, sitting on the edge of the bed while crossing her legs. "And that dagger isn't only for you. I have plenty of enemies, you know?"

He already knew that, but he couldn't answer right away because he was a bit distracted.

Sonata was wearing lingerie. Her torso was decently covered, and the dress even had short sleeves. The problem was the length.

[Isn't she showing too much legs when the night is so cold?]

"Are you still distracted?" Sonata teased him when she caught him staring at her legs a little too long. "I already asked my maids to give me the most modest lingerie they could find." She gave him an "apologetic" smile that made it obvious she was making fun of him again. "I'm sorry for having long, creamy, and shapely legs, my dear legal husband."

Diether shut his eyes tight, trying to calm himself down because he knew Sonata just loved pissing him off for fun.

But he couldn't refute what his "dear" legal wife had just said.

[It's true that she has long, creamy, and shapely legs after all…]

Diether must have lost his mind.
