Web Of Pain

At the airport.

A man was seen wearing a black face mask and a matching black face cap to conceal his identity. He has his luggage with him as he checks in a hotel room where he removes his disguise.

With a sigh, he took his phone and she made some phone calls.

"Anna!" He called.

"You've arrived in Spain?" A woman's voice resounded over the phone, her voice loud.

The man massaged his temple tiredly, trying hard to retort back. "What's wrong with you, Anna? Why are you being so loud?"

"I'm pregnant, you don't expect me to be quiet when you can't cater to my needs?" She yelled making him adjust the phone from his ear.

With a sigh, he clenched his fist. "Look, I'm trying, okay? Why do you think I made it to Spain?" He retorted, sighing in defeat as silence followed his question. "I'm going to send her a text right away."

The woman on the other end of the line exhaled out of frustration. The man had to keep the phone a few meters away from his ear for the incoming yelling.

"How long are you going to keep depending on her? Have you lost it? Aren't you a man? I shouldn't have opened my legs for you in the first place." Anna yelled before continuing with her statement, this time, her voice seemed to be calm. "I didn't only lose my dignity as a woman, I also lost a friend."

"You know what? We're done with this conversation. I just called to inform you that I'm in Span." He said before hanging up. Heaving a sigh of relief, he dropped his phone and started unpacking because his stay in the hotel was going to be a long one.

He thought of how he was going to make his first appearance to her but he needed to make her live in fear even in her comfort zone.

A devilish smirk plastered on his face as he took his phone back, and entered a text message.

CECILIA, I'M IN SPAIN.

XOXO.

"I am in Spain." He laughed evilly, accomplishing one of the tasks on his bucket list. "Sent!" He said after clicking on sent his message was successfully sent to the recipient.

He waited for some minutes, hoping to get a response but his jaws dropped in disappointment. "Why hasn't she replied yet?" He muttered under his breath as he kept his phone, lying on the bed with his eyes glued to the ceiling.

The buzzing sound from his phone caught his attention as he thought she might have sent him a reply making a triumphant smile settle on his lips. To his disappointment, it was a text from Anna asking him for money.

"Arrgh! Fuck you, Anna!" He smashed his phone on the ground as he retired for the day, hoping that he would get to accomplish all his purposes in Spain before going back to Anna or he might not even go back to her if things happened to end well.

Back in the house of the Gonzalez, Cecilia was still in the room she ought to share with Miguel. She hugged herself as she couldn't help but exchange glances with the text that was sent to her. She knew exactly who it was even though the number was private. This made her have a whirlwind of thoughts making her feel uneasy and drained.

"Cecilia, com'on get over it!" She tried to stop herself from thinking about the incident of how she caught him making out with her best friend. With a sigh, she sluggishly walked to the washroom, rinsing her face, trying to pull off those thoughts but it was of no use. It still hurt as if it was yesterday.

The pain she felt when she was completely betrayed and shattered made her unable to think straight as she fell on the floor sobbing. She thought coming to Spain might do her good but it didn't even help in erasing the memory.

Cecilia was lost in her thoughts of how she was going to run away from all the pain she had been going through and why he also followed her to Spain. She was oblivious to Miguel's presence in the washroom as the latter took pity on the shaky in front of him.

It reminded him of how he first meant her, completely shattered and heartbroken making him know the reason why she was like this. He turned his back to leave, but he couldn't help but halt due to the words that escaped her lips.

"I told you to take my sorrows away. I just want to be happy, why am I still in pain?"

Her words rang in Miguel's head as a rewind of what happened the first day they met flashed in his head and how it led to their one-night stand. His girlfriend's face flashed in his mind as she warned him not to have an affair with the woman who was going to be his stand-in wife. But with the look of this situation, Miguel can't help but defy his girlfriend's rule

He turned around but the girl's head was covered with her hair. He indeed didn't take her pain away but added to it by making her his stand-in wife. The latter didn't want to regret ever bringing her along as he could have left her on the beach, it was already too late for him to regret as he was already caught in her web of pain.

He crouched down to her level as she was sitting on the floor, and raised his hand above her hair, hesitating, before patting her hair gently and removing the strands that fell on her face.

Cecilia raised her head and gazed into his dark eyes, sniffing and sobbing uncontrollably.

"Please, don't leave me." She begged, clutching onto him tightly, her hands wrapped around his arms as she soaked his sleeves with her tears.

"I'm going to take away your sorrows, Ceci. I promise."
