Arriving at the University

Hiking up his luggage he followed the crowd imwardly praying that nothing troublesome happens he breezed through the first check nothing happened.

He felt a tad bit relieved he breathed out a sigh of relief when, "hey!" From behind a voice barked.

Jidenna froze and quickly turned around smiling, the security gave him a scrutinizing look eying him.

Jidenna's lips twitched, his smile almost cracking but luckily the security only demanded to see the documents only before allowing him to pass.

Both Jidenna and Ikenna, Jidenna's Father knew there would be a sort of risk I'm bringing the family heirloom abroad.

It could be regarded as smuggling and seized but for some unknown reason that Jidenna could not fathom his father had forcefully stuffed the carefully package rod straight into his bad and did not take a "No" for an answer.

Now Jidenna had to bear the brunt of giving in, he tried to relax his tensed shoulders but he couldn't do it easily not when his worst scenerio was playing out just opposite him.

"Excuse me ma'am but you'll have to come with us for questioning" three security officers surrounded a lanky lady with obviously pale features.

The individuals right next to her backed away like seeing a plague.

Tearing his eyes away Jidenna walked away.

Outside the building the sun was dipping down the horizon.

'Time runs so fast' Jidenna sigh in exhaustion,

'it was 3pm when I arrived and now it's already going to 6pm' he massaged the back off his neck feeling weary as he scanned the parking lot.

He fished out his phone from his pocket and dialed a number, the university had also sent him the phone number of the driver who will pick him up from the airport.

After the third ring the call was picked and with a fluid and professional tone asked, "good day, your ride is already directly outside the airport waiting and i am waving a placard with your name on it"

No sooner had the man finished when Jidenna's eyes caught a lean man dressed in a white shirt and black trousers waving a black placard and his name, "Jidenna Agwu" was written in clean white bold fonts.

After seeing him, Jidenna moved towards the man.

****

"Okay Sir. This is your stop" The car parked Infront of a hotel that was temporarily booked for him.

After the orientation, he would be allowed to stay in the university's hostel.

2 days later, Jidenna staggered into his room, slamming the door behind him and plopped down face flat on the bed, groaning.

Living in the country of Jianyu wasn't as easy as he had thought firstly was the major difference in food.

There was no Garri!

He gave another groan full of frustration thinking of eating white rice again or noodles.

He flipped himself over, to his back with his hands propped under his head tomorrow he was heading back to the university but this time to complete his registration.

And be assigned to a dorm.

He shrugged off any other worrisome thoughts and shut his eyes forcing himself to drift off to a dreamless sleep in preparation for the busy day ahead.

The next day the sky up above was clear, and still like an undisturbed lake while the clouds drifted lazily like leaves on the lake moving to younderland

On the other hand, the scene down below down was chaotic honking of cars, yells and grumbling as people rushed to work desperate to avoid checking in late a clear contrast to the peaceful scene up above.

And amongst these rushing individuals was Jidenna. Jidenna marched down to the university even if his stride was not as urgent the people around him he was still in a hurry.

This morning a message had been sent to his phone reminding him of the time. He had to get to the administration office before 10:00.

Being the punctual person he was he preferred to come extra early.

Still walking, Jidenna took a glance at his wrist watch, only nodding in satisfaction when he saw the time, '30 minutes earlier'

'I am almost there, theyre will be no need for me to rush since I'm almost there' deciding that Jidenna's steps slowed down.

As he was no longer in a rush Jidenna looked around scanning the area. The past 2 days he had been focused on the orientation only. He did not have the extra strength to appreciate where he was.

With this free time he had Jidenna decided to stop and smell the roses, scanning his environment he was wowed, 'The sky being blue and the grass green seems to be where the similarities end' he stared at the towering skyscrapers, in his home country especially where he lived there were skyscrapers but it wasn't as common because of the land.

If the house weighed too much than the land could carry the house would sink. There were occasional news of tragedy on the news of such cases where the landlord or landlady refused to listen and continued anyway.

Funny enough the people who bore the consequences was not the owner of the building but the innocent tenants because of this kinds of reports the government had set a law forbidding building taller than 5 storeys except for a select few.

'it seems that this country doesn't have such restrictions' Jidenna noted standing before the gate of the campus.

He took a step walking inside.

"Hey!" A deep voice barked halting Jidenna from a building by the side a man with an average build dressed in security uniform walked up to him with one hand casually placed on his belt loop.
