Road Travel (2) Fixed

Snapping out of the nightmarish flashback, the infecta lets out screeches as it hits itself on the truck, making a thud on it everytime.

~Someone must be alive. I can't just leave them in their.~

But I didn't know how I was going to kill it or atleast make it perish for a while since it takes a long while until its flames come back.

Hiding behind the vehicle I looked inside and there was a water shotgun on the seat. There was a dead kid also with its body ripped apart. He had a birthday hat and was holding onto a big gift in his hand.

~Poor kid~

Sometimes it would be sad to see corpses as it meant they survived the first or the next rounds of infecta. Seeing this kid, it's parents must've tried to protect him from a mutant.

I pity the kid but I had to use my time wisely.

"Hmm. If I go up close and shoot the infecta right at its core it might work even if it's a toy water gun."

I thought about it thinking if it was a good idea or not.

~Even if I fail it won't attack either way. It's worth a shot~

The car window was broken so I reached inside grabbing it and collecting some water shotgun shells that were on the seat also.

I took the bayonet off of the rifle and put it on the trunk of the car. Taking the shells I load them into the water gun.

Keeping the shotgun in my right hand and gripping the bayonet in my left hand I slowly went up to it carefully.

I was a bit nervous but it wasn't paying attention to me at all. It started to get hotter as I got closer but not enough for me to die from it. Getting closer just 2 feet away I pointed at its head where the core should be.

The core of a level 2 infecta could be anywhere in its head or stomach.

My whole arm felt like it was burning. My hand was the worst of all as it felt like it was stuck onto the water gun.

Having two shells in, I shot it right in the head first rather than the stomach which exposed the black core. Its form slowly comes back to its original form but being fast enough I took a big swing piercing through its core.

Its fire form withers away diminishing. The only thing left was its core turning into black dust falling onto the ground.

"Now that I see it, the dent the infecta made almost went through."

I go around towards the back of the truck. It was sealed shut by a lock and it wasn't an ordinary one at all.

The lock should be made by silk Inc. which was the one that introduced this lock in 2050 that used to be high tech and it seems like this container has the MH-453 kind of lock.

The only reason I knew all this was because I worked as a locksmith and a hacker.

Being a hacker and a locksmith were two of the same in my line of work in the past. Always trying to open something or getting information from somewhere.

I wasn't an expert or anything in this but it was still a part of what I did as a job. I take my time trying to unlock it since I might not be able to open it ever again.

I put my side bag and rifle down and started unlocking it.

*A few hours later*

I felt I should be sweating but I didn't. A few more minutes passed and I finally arrived at the end. Now I only had to wait for it to unlock.

This MG-453 always had a timer at the end which the first person to set up the timer would always open at the time they chose from then on.

It showed that it was going to unlock in about 21 hours.

I looked up towards the sky which was clear now. It was the easiest way a person could tell what time it was in the past. 5 hours had passed judging by where the sun had passed. It's about to be completely dark.

"It's going to be unlocked by tomorrow."

There was no use in worrying for whoever is in there now.

"I'm going to have to find shelter. It's about to become completely dark."

It was easy to find shelter as there was a camper van right behind me.

Looking around me it was an easy choice since everything besides the camper van was wrecked. I picked up my side bag and attached the bayonet back onto the rifle while holding it in my hands.

I opened the door, closing the door behind me. It looked just like what any other campervan would like.

"This looks really expensive."

Going down further, there were some random supplies on the table and seats.

"This person must've been prepared."

There was some news on the mysterious green gas in the past; only a few believed that it would be the apocalypse and were prepared. Other than that it was going unnoticed by the rest of humanity.

I was one of the people that didn't believe it at first until it was too late.

Going further in there was a military backpack on the seat which had nothing in it. A choco bar, black hunting knife with its sheath on was on the table. I looked inside the cupboard above the table and found body wipers.

"Maybe I can start this up."

I went back to the front towards the seat and there was a button with a symbol of a blue crescent moon and pressed it wondering if it would actually work.

| Energy depleted. Emergency power activated. Protective Shuttles On.|

The door and all the windows were blocked by shutters. I couldn't see anything on the outside anymore. Artificial lights that look like stars appear on the roof of the van.

"This is amazing."

I knew what this was. It's usually offered only to the rich ones because it was pretty expensive. Some of the things I can say is that it was the most protective vehicle ever and the most spectacularly comfiest vehicle ever.

In the back of the van a screen appeared showing some time and percentages. I couldn't understand what I was even looking at, it was really complicated. I just left it alone and got myself ready for the night.

I spend my time wiping myself off with the body wiper and then searching everything that could be in here.

*18 minutes later*

Some minutes passed and while searching none of the clothes could fit my body. After finishing searching everything I didn't get anything that was useful for my survival. It might've been useful to others but not for me.

I laid down on the bed which I found out was a pull out bed. It was in a long compartment next to the ground. I could even adjust the height of the bed and so I leveled it at the height of the table.

I had already put everything on the table with only my clothes on. I jumped onto the bed laying on my stomach.

Turning around on my back I look at the fake stars closing my eyes.
