Prologue

I didn't know what to do.. Under the shining moonlight, surrounded by dead trees which branches look like spines. I look down to see blood. I was bleeding on the ground, unable to move with a sword through my chest. All I could think about was how wasted my life was.

"Why did i pick this quest? Theres so many other safer options out there! I knew i couldnt have amounted to anything.. but i still wanted to start adventuring." I thought to myself, angrily.

"Didn't think my first quest as an adventurer would kill me but, I guess thats just how it goes.."

That was the last thing i thought of as my vision fades to black, while bandits slaughter the rest of the people who took up the escorting quest along with merchants whom we were supposed to protect.

Suddenly, A ring on my left hand started to feel hot. It was a ring my mother gave me before disappeared, It always felt ominous but as it was the only thing my mother left behind, I couldnt help but wear it.

It seems like it was a good decision.

As the ring got hotter and hotter, I could feel death creeping up to my head but before i succumb to death, i heard an unintelligable female voice ringing inside my head but I couldnt hear her clearly or even, hear her until the end of her speech because I crossed over first.

A silent but peaceful feeling permeates my soul, I felt nothing but I also felt peace.

"Is this.. the afterlife?" I thought to myself.

Then, in a sudden realisation, "How am I still thinking? I'm supposed to be dead?" I question myself and surrounding until suddenly, I heard the voice from before but I couldn't deduce where the voice from. As I try to question the voice, I realised that I couldnt. Rather, I had no body to speak of. All I had was my thoughts!

"You must be confused right now but dont worry, You'll understand if you look more." The voice declares while giggling. I couldn't help but be more wary of this unknown 'person'.

"As per the request immortalized in that ring, You will be given a second chance. I am the Goddess of Darkness and I hope that you do well with this opportunity that I have given you." "Good luck!" Bids the Goddess farewell.

"WAIT, WHERE ARE YOU GOING?" I shouted in my thoughts.

Then, something popped into my 'mind'.

<You have received the Authority of Darkness>

<You have awakened>
