Surprise

Being in a country or even a city that is not her own birthplace, it must have been hard at first for the girl who decided to settle in a city she never thought she would end up in.

She thought she could return to her country after she finished her time in the context of 'vacationing' to release her fatigue from every problem she faced. But in reality, she was faced with the fact that she was unable to show her feet in her country.

Many worries weighed on her.

Several times her friend had specifically asked her to return.

It's just that all the persuasion and also the requests that were tucked into several frills so that the girl returned to her country all failed miserably.

Inevitably the final choice chosen was that the friend put several people who he thought could help the girl on leave to become special assistants for Cathleen, who was now heavily pregnant.

Cathleen's womb is now nine months old, which means she is just waiting for the right time to give birth.

"Will you be able to teach me how to cook properly and deliciously when I give birth?" asked Cathleen as she waited for the food to be prepared by her assistant who had been sent by Fred to accompany Cathleen and help her with everything she needed without exception.

"Of course, but I doubt if Mr. Fred will allow it, as he always reminds me that you should have enough rest."

Cathleen chuckled at the words of the girl named Stephani.

"You just relax, I'll back you up," Cathleen said casually.

After all, Stephani didn't know that if Cathleen had spoken up then Fred couldn't argue.

Some of the food that had finished cooking one by one began to be served on their dining table.

There were various tantalizing menus on the table.

"Turns out my best friend wasn't wrong to send you here," Cathleen said with a big smile on her face.

It was like Cathleen really liked Stephani's existence.

Just as the two were about to eat the food that had been neatly arranged. The bell rang loudly.

Cathleen frowned in confusion at the sound of the bell, as she had not ordered anything or had any acquaintances that she had invited or promised someone to come to her house.

"I'll open the door first, Miss."

Cathleen nodded her head to Stephani of course.

.

.

"Surprise!!!" squealed a young man whose voice Cathleen recognized, even though it had been a long time since she had seen him.

"Hey!!! Why didn't you tell me you were coming here," squealed Cathleen quite surprised by the spontaneous movement of standing up from her seat.

Until...

A low whimper began to emanate from Cathleen's lips.

"Hey, are you okay, my niece isn't rebelling inside is she?" asked a worried Fred as he gently rubbed Cathleen's large belly.

"It's like she's about to beat you up inside, that's why I feel sick."

Fred quickly took his position, bending his body slightly so that his face was right in front of Cathleen's stomach as if he was facing the baby Cahtleen inside the girl's womb.

Unconcerned with Cathleen's reaction, Fred was busy talking to Cathleen's future baby and apologizing for having surprised the mother with his sudden presence, without even giving Cathleen any notice.

Cathleen chuckled at this. She hadn't expected her best friend to look so childish.

"Did you come alone?" asked Cathleen at last, when Fred was standing upright looking at her.

Fred gave her a smile and a nod of his head.

"Anastasia originally wanted to come with me, but due to a sudden work situation she couldn't leave, so Anastasia canceled the trip, and I came alone."

Cathleen was busy nodding her head, ending by inviting Fred to join them for breakfast.

Honestly, Stephani felt nervous, because the boss who employed her was now in front of her.

Should she have breakfast with them?

"Ahem, seems like Stephanie is looking stiffer. Are you afraid of him?" asked Cathleen casually when she noticed Stephanie's slightly changed face.

There was no answer from Stephanie, other than her nervous gestures. As a fellow woman, of course, Cathleen noticed the girl's anxiety.

"Calm down, he won't bite you, so you just eat with us as usual. You'll be fine as long as I'm here," Cathleen said with confidence, as well as a little sarcasm for her friend.

"Sit down, think of me as Cathleen's visiting family."

Stephanie was relieved to hear these words from Fred.

For Cathleen, breakfast this morning had been her best day in months while she was in a foreign country.

It was fortunate that Cathleen had friends who were truly like her own family. If she was honest she was probably more comfortable saying that Fred was her family than her biological father, who she sometimes felt like she was meeting a strange man when she saw him.

"When do you expect to be born Cath?" asked Fred when he finally saw Cathleen's very large belly, a far contrast to when Cathleen had asked his permission to go on vacation, where Cathleen's belly was still flat.

Cathleen cheerfully explained to Fred that the doctors expected the baby to be born next week, but she didn't know if it would be on time or a little off.

"Then I'll be here to make sure my niece comes into the world," Fred said confidently.

"Really? Will the last project you told me about be safe if you're here?" asked Cathleen who was still thinking about her work.

"You can rest assured, everything is under control, and before I came here I finished it first, it's just lacking the last finishing touches and the due date is next month, so I still have time to finish the last finishing touches."

A sigh of relief came from Cathleen's lips. The girl felt bad for Fred, because some of the work that could usually be done in a balanced way between them, now in the last few months she had only done 30% and Fred had done almost 70%.

'I'm sorry that I'm always troubling you.
