Hearing the crackling of the fire slowly die down, David opens his eyes. He looked at the time, seeing that it was around 5 am, he yawned involuntarily and stretched his arms out.
"Yep... don't need as much sleep as before. Wait, did my appearance change after the mutation?" David checked his avatar.
There weren't any changes, so David turned off his transformation to see the real changes. His muscles were now more built, with his abs turning into 8-packs and his overall muscles becoming more apparent as if he was a small and dense bodybuilder.
He now had a second pair of smaller horns, spurting out of the first pair of horns, making him more dragon-like than a demon. His wings now had a larger wingspan and scales covering them, giving them a shine as some light from the fire showed to him. His tail scales becoming more apparent and dense, coupled with silver spikes protruding out of the tail, making it seem like a deadly weapon now.
His eyes were still yellow with his pupils as black slits. His brown hair was now black, his skin tone was now lighter and his markings became more apparent due to the light skin color.
Looking at himself, David made fewer changes than before using {Transformation} and just got rid of the markings, wings, tail, and horns while also returning his yellow eyes into a human-shaped one. He now looked like a devilishly handsome prince and his cold and piercing look made those who looked at him scared... well... if there was anyone there.
"Not bad... guess now I can finally leave this damn place..." David blew out the campfire and ran to the direction where the stairs were.
David ran while releasing his aura, scaring all the nearby monsters, giving him a smooth trip, except for the fact that there were still some obstacles he needed to get through.
"Wait... I can technically speak beast... let's test it out first to get used to it..." David quickly lowered his aura to that of slightly stronger monsters in the area so he wouldn't immediately be preyed on.
He also changed his form of magic to resonate with the fire mana around him, giving a pleasant feeling towards all the monsters. He even changed his look to be even more beastly so that the other monsters wouldn't suspect him.
Running in a certain direction, he morphed into a red lizard-like beast and went to one of the ants that were still alive. David did know that he did kill their queen and since he was in a lizard form, he tried to talk in a more somber tone.
"Oh no... you too?" David started.
"Huh? Yeah... which clan are you from?" the ant asked.
"I'm from the fire lizards, I'm a mutated monster, though it doesn't mean much when that 'monster' killed our leader..." David hung his head low.
"Do you guys have any mixed-race camps? I see that your digging somewhere..." David asked, looking at the small hole the ant came out of.
"Oh! We do, come, come!" the ant was genuinely excited signaling for David to follow it.
David cringed a bit due to his dislike for bugs, but it wasn't as bad as before, so he followed it. They walked through the hole, for him to see multiple rooms with tons of bats, lizards, and ants running around.
'Wait... how? I... they don't even have a leader... right?' David looked around, seeing that there wasn't any discrimination, at least in his vision, nor were there any fights going on... yet.
"This... is much better than I expected... wow." David said.
"Of course! Although we are just doing labor, the other monster lords here are taking care of us." the ant lifted his head.
"Oh? Were there any changes about the monster lords? I haven't been up to date with everything..." David avoided asking it directly as he didn't want to raise suspicion.
"Mn... there weren't any changes at all, there's still the spider queen, and the mutated rat king here." the ant replied.
"I see... thank you... is there anything I need to do to uh... integrate myself here...?" David asked, genuinely confused.
"Ah! I forgot about that... come with me!" the ant ran in a direction in which David quickly followed after...
'I'll at least give you a painless death...'
They arrived in a large room, where there was a large spider on its own web and on the other side, a grey sleeping rat with no other features other than being extremely huge.
They woke up as they saw a lizard and an ant entering.
"You two are?" the spider asked.
"I am one of the workers here, I found him when he was alone. He seems to want to work here, your highness." the ant bowed its head, and David followed suit.
"Mn. You may go..." the spider said to the ant.
"Eh? U-understood, your majesty." the ant crawled away, ready to work the day away.
"Now that we're alone, tell us... why are you here?" the spider queen said, waking the rat.
"Huh? What? Who? Oh! It's you!" the rat opened its eyes and stood on two legs.
'A rat that walks like a human? Seems quite intelligent too, the hell is this, "Boku no Academia"?' David lifted his head.
"What do you... mean it's me?" David started sweating a bit but calmed down quickly after.
The spider queen and the rat king immediately flared their aura, as if testing him.
David didn't back down, and due to his monster blood being competitive, he also flared his aura, which was even to them, mostly due to his control over magic, multiplying his aura strength.
"Wait! I need to leave the place quickly! I do not wish to fight!" David quickly transformed back into his original form, just without the wings.
"Then why are you drawing your claws!" they both charged at him, seeing that he was ready for a fight.
'I don't think that you can handle two monster lords at the same time!' they thought, especially due to the fact that they were the strongest out of the five.
"Tch... guess I need to fight now then..." David complained, and dodged their charge.
