A Party Not to Miss

Nova walked through Olivia's front door at 8:30 to see everyone hustling around decorating. "NO! That doesn't go there, that goes in the other living room next to the big coach," Olivia's voice boomed from the living room to Nova's left. A servant walked out of the room carrying a bowl filled with something as Nova walked in. The poor guy looked like he was about to pee his pants.

Olivia was looking around at the decorations, occasionally smiling or frowning before her eyes landed on Nova. "You know, I am pretty sure people will be so drunk or high that they won't even notice that the bowl on the table is teal and not grey," Nova told her with a smirk.

Olivia rolled her eyes and responded, "Well hello to you too."

Nova gave a little curtsy and in Queen's English accent said, "Well Hello M'lady."

Her antics brought a laugh out of Olivia before her eyes landed on something behind Nova and her eyes seemed to catch fire as she shouted, "How many times have I told people to put mother's vase in the safe!" The cheer captain let out a huff as she proceeded to pinch the bridge of her nose and close her eyes.

"Hey, I can put the vase into the safe and help out. It will all be fine, everything already looks pretty good," Nova told the stressing Olivia. Her words brought a smile to the girl's mouth as she opened her eyes and gave a nod, so Nova got to work.

About fifteen minutes later, the last of the squad had arrived so we went into the now finished teal room. The school colors were grey and teal and as this was commemorating the new cheer season, Olivia had decorated her two living rooms into the school colors. They all took tons of pictures before heading into the kitchen area to set up food and drinks. Nova stifled a sigh when she saw one of the girls fill a plastic cup with something alcoholic, 'Here we go again.'

It wasn't long after that, that guests started to arrive, the music got almost unbearably loud, and the smell of alcohol and smoke filled the air. Nova wandered around chatting with different groups and making sure to get into some photos and be noticed. She hated everything about this scene, but she would have to wait a little longer before she could disappear. The few times she had tried had failed when people have noticed her and started chatting to her about one thing or the other. Half the time she couldn't even understand what they said as they slurred their words too much.

Then sometime in the night, a shout rose above the music. Nova couldn't make out the words, but she could recognize Olivia's voice. She quickly found the cheer captain glaring daggers at her boyfriend and a girl who was standing too close to him. The girl's eyes were wide as her hand tightened in his hand and the sight caused Olivia to glare harder before she shouted out, "You, get your dirty paws away from my man," Then she turned her flaming eyes to her boyfriend and commanded, "and you! Is this how you treat someone like me?! Get out of my house now. We are officially over."

Her boyfriend opened his mouth, but Olivia's narrowing gaze shut it again before he turned and all but ran out of the house with the girl in tow. Olivia looked around at everyone watching before she shouted, "What are you all looking at?!" before she turned and stormed up the stairs. Nova let out a sigh, 'Sorry Dawn, I don't know if we are getting that run.' before she followed the now fuming cheer captain up the stairs.

Nova didn't know if you could call them friends, but Nova just happened to be the person Olivia always ranted to, she was her support. Olivia didn't really know Nova though, because she didn't listen but Nova pretty much knew everything about Olivia's kind of messed up life. Her parents were rich and their house was huge, but her parents were almost never home. When her parents were home, they were almost always either ignoring each other or yelling. She had no siblings and felt utterly alone most of the time which is why she tried so hard to become a somebody at school.

They stormed into Olivia's bedroom and Olivia instantly went and fell onto her bed with a huff. Nova sat gently next to her after closing the door and silently waited for her rant. "Who does he think he is?" Olivia's first words were muffled but then she sat up and continued, "I mean cheating on ME, of all people? Doesn't he know how lucky he was? And who does she think she is? Stealing my man!"

Olivia's eyes were burning with anger but at the same time had tears building in them. Nova just turned to her and asked, "If he is the kind of man who cheats, is he worth it?" The cheer captain's eyes furrowed as her head tilted slightly before Nova continued, "A relationship should be two ways. He loves you, you love him. He respects you, you respect him. He supports, pushes, and strengthens you, and you support, push, and strengthen him. If he cheated on you that means he wasn't doing his part, therefore he is not worth it."

Olivia's anger and tears receded as she pondered Nova's words before slowly nodding her head, "You are right! I was always the one trying to push the relationship. He wasn't even trying, just taking advantage!" As the words slipped her mouth, her anger at her ex flared back up.

Nova nodded, "Right, so he isn't worth the effort and he most certainly not worth your tears and time now. So, the question is what are you going to do?"

A mischievous smirk spread across Olvia's face before she responded, "I am gonna hurt the one thing he always cared too much for, his car."

Nova chuckled before commenting, "That sounds like fun and all, but can you imagine the work that that would involve. Besides, isn't taking revenge technically wasting more time dwelling on how he hurt you?"

The cheer captain's smirk fell to a frown before she huffed, "You're right. Although it would be fun to see his face, it wouldn't be worth it." Olivia's eyes narrowed as she continued to think for a minute before her eyes lit up and she announced, "I know! I am going to show him that I am so over him. In fact, I am going to show everyone I am so over him."

"That's more like it!" Nova cheered on Olivia as they both stood from the bed and left the room. Once out of the room, Olivia seemed to fly down the stairs and announced loudly, "Let's Get This Party Started!!" Loud whoops filled the house as people tipped back drinks and the music seemed to grow louder. Nova followed the captain to the kitchen and when she saw her filling a red solo cup, Nova knew it was time for her to ditch the party.
