Cheer Meets Werewolves

Once she had made her request, Jay had most certainly frowned deeper, but thankfully agreed... for now. Nova had a feeling that she wouldn't be able to keep Jay away for long. After he left, Nova swiftly move to her house and climbed up through her bedroom window to get ready for school. Just as she was wondering how to get to school, her phone beeped.

OLIVIA: Need a ride?

ME: Yes! Could you?

OLIVIA: Yuppers! Be in 5.

ME: Thx. You're a lifesaver.

OLIVIA: I know ;)

5 minutes later, Olivia arrived and they were off to school. From the second Nova got into the car, Olivia had started chatting about boys and the other school gossip. She also mentioned her boyfriend a bit, but Nova didn't start actually paying attention until Olivia started talking about cheer. "So, for this year's competitions, I was thinking we should put in a lot more sass and lifts into the routine."

Nova nodded and said, "Agreed, we most certainly need to work on expressions. I noticed some of the Freshmen seemed to have let their nerves show last semester. Lifts are good, but do you think we have enough muscle to do more tosses?"

Olivia's fingers tapped the steering wheel as she pulled into the parking lot before she responded, "Your right, nice sharp tosses will help add some power. We have 2 more male cheerleaders this year than last, so we should be able to pull more off. Then we need to start focusing on getting there in practices."

"Sounds fun. Do you have flyers in mind?" Nova asked as Olivia parked the school in her normal spot near the school doors.

"Yes, I want to run through them with the cocaptain before I announce or talk to anyone. Do you have any ideas?" Olivia looked expectantly at Nova.

Nova pondered the question before suggesting, "What about Emma? She wasn't a flyer last year, but she is small enough and seems to have good balance and flexibility."

Olivia nodded thoughtfully as they both got out of the car and headed toward the first class of the day, Chemistry. Don't know how it happened, but Nova had managed to get both of her first-period classes with Olivia. They walked quietly through the halls and into the classroom, quickly moving to the back of the class. The teacher didn't even bat an eye at our tardiness, the teachers knew it was just an act for me and they knew that Olivia didn't care.

As she walked into the room, Nova couldn't help but recognize a certain smell before her eyes met a pair of electric blue ones. His warm smile caused her to blush and she ducked her head to hide it as she followed Olivia back. The soft chuckle he gave in response to her shyness suddenly threatened to turn her even redder. Luckily, Olivia's voice distracted Nova from his occasional glances and smirks.

History and PE went the same as always, except Jay had joined both. Nova never talked to Jay, but there was something nice about his presence, even if it was distracting. For most of lunch, Nova found herself glancing towards Jay's table and wishing to be over with them. 'We should be over with them,' Dawn pushed.

Nova let out a quiet sigh and drug her eyes back to the cheerleader who was currently chatting with her about who knows what. 'Yeah, well. I am sorry but I don't know how to make that transition yet.'

'You get up and walk over to them. Jay even left the chair next to him empty for you,' Dawn responded.

'No way Sherlock. I had not thought about that,' Nova suppressed the desire to snort before continuing, 'If I did that, everyone would instantly assume I am making a move on him and if he responds positively, which he will, everyone will think we are sleeping together.'

'So? You have never cared about what others think before. Why does that matter now?' Dawn questioned.

Nova frowned as she took a bite of her sandwich and admitted, 'I want it to be real between us. I don't want it to be fake like the rest of my life is.' That caused Dawn to go quiet as I finally gave my attention back to the table full of cheerleaders.

"So, the party is at my house tonight and it is starting at 9. Can you all still make it?" Olivia announced while glancing around the table as all the girls nodded and murmured affirmations.

When her eyes landed on me I grinned and said, "Have you known me to ever miss a party?"

She grinned, "Of course," Then she glanced around at everyone and said, "So as you know, this party is celebrating the start of this cheer season so I want everyone to look their best! Also, show up early cause I wanna take some pics." The other cheerleaders all grinned and some even squealed with excitement. Nova on the other hand suppressed a sigh and fake an excited grin. She would actually have to make an appearance at this party.

The bell rang and everyone stood up and strolled to class while chatting animatedly about the party and the preparations. Nova walked into her final class and froze when her eyes landed on the dark-haired, blue-eyed boy that was now mysteriously in all her classes. Jay simply looked at her with an innocent smile and a shrug to answer her raised eyebrow. Nova simply rolled her eyes and proceeded to her seat where she immediately took out her phone.

It was a boring lecture day in photography, but soon she was able to go to cheer practice. When she walked into the gym, she noticed two of the new girls trying out. Olivia was telling them to do things and they pulled each one off seemingly effortlessly. Nova could tell Olivia was impressed in fact, everyone watching was. "Good Job girls," Olvia said before glancing at the cocaptain, Zoey, who gave her a small nod.

The two girls looked nervous as I stood waiting for Olivia's decision. Nova approached Olivia who raised her eyebrow in a silent question. Turning her eyes back to the girls, Nova met their eyes and asked, "Do you two know any lifts of tosses?" They looked at each other quickly before shaking their heads so Nova asked them another question, "What would you do if someone tried to steal your man?"

Both their eyes flashed and one of them all but growled out, "I would tell her to keep her paws and eyes to herself, or one day she may wake up without them." The other girl nodded in agreement and Nova turned to look at Olivia and met her smirk with one of her own. Olivia nodded before turning to the girls and welcoming them to the team.
