Jerboa Varmint Colony Raid Part Two

The perfect moment soon arrived as Hendrix ran out and hit the Jerboa varmint in the head before it could react. However, when it tried to yell for the others, he quickly bashed its head inside again before grasping its neck and choking it from behind with both arms while shoving the stick In its mouth.

It tried to yell out. However, Hendrix tightened as hard as he could. This action resulted in the varmint squirming before finally going limp.

[You have killed a Fur-Covered Jerboa Varmint]

[You can't earn XP until you reach a city in the Crown World.]

'It takes a lot of effort to kill these without using the multiplier form of my fighting style. I need to find a better method with my limited options.'

{Perhaps you can make a tiny bow and shoot needles with it? Or remake your full-body suit from the Tribulation?}

'I can't do that until I get rid of the thing that allows my classmates to track me. After that, I will create those again.' Hendrix thought before pondering some more.

{How about assassinating them all at night? The holes are large enough for you to enter.}

'Well, I can try that. However, if I follow that idea, I'll have no room for error. And if I mess up, I'll be trapped inside with enemies from all sides.'

{I see, do you have any ideas?}

'I do. You know this task is too great for me to take on directly, and it will take too long if I do it with hit-and-run tactics. However, I can indirectly kill them since I can't use the environment against them in this case.'

{What method do you want to use, Hendrix?}

'I'll still assassinate them all. However, I won't be doing so individually or even spilling blood. Instead, I plan to create fires near the hole entrances and guide the smoke inside. I'll suffocate them all and kill them that way.'

{That is indeed a method that requires no blood spilling, and it kills living things quickly.}

'And it's efficient for my goal of seeing if I can earn currency from killing many varmints outright. If not, I'll stop killing varmints unless I have to eat. If so, I'll try to kill every varmint I encounter if the risk is worth it.'

Once Hendrix finished his conversation with Ackalon, he began following through with his plan. First, he collected all the fallen sticks and branches from bushes around the area before placing them in one pile.

Afterward, he began cutting extra sticks off bushes with a sharp rock before placing them in the same pile. And he spent three hours doing the same thing before digging another hole for himself, sleeping and repeating, for one and a half days. After his preparations were complete, he smiled slightly.

'It's almost time to begin the second phase of my plan.' Hendrix thought before looking at the sun's rays beginning to dim while it began setting.

Hendrix waited for another thirty minutes before checking on the hill and gazed upon the last Jerboa varmints entering the hill to go to sleep. That was his go-ahead to begin.

He carefully picked up some sticks and branches before entering each hole slightly and blocking the path deeper inside. Additionally, he minimized the amount of noise he made the best he could. Once two hours passed, he finished and lit a branch on fire with sparks caused by scrapping two rocks together.

Afterward, he lit each wall of sticks and branches on fire with his lit one, and after fifteen minutes of hurriedly lighting different ones, he collapsed on the ground a bit, away from the hill. And as time went by, the hill stayed strangely silent before notifications began pouring in.

[You have killed a Fur-Covered Jerboa Varmint]

[You have killed a Fur-Covered Jerboa Varmint]

[You...]

After about twenty-five notifications of varmint deaths, a new notification showed up.

[You have acquired 1 Pyrite Coin]

And after this notification, twenty-three more death notifications showed before another one appeared.

[You have acquired 1 Pyrite Coin]

This continued until Hendrix acquired nine Pyrite Coins, and the deaths stopped.

[You have eliminated an entire nest of Jerboa varmints using smoke from fires and earned 3 extra Pyrite Coins for this achievement.]

[All Coins entered a private subspace, which only coins can inhabit]

'So I only have twelve Pyrite Coins. That's a tiny number. I'm curious how much are Pyrite Coins worth?' Hendrix thought while looking at the hill.

[They are the lowest form of currency.]

'I guess this place isn't for grabbing money. However, I hope the Vulture varmints arrive within three days, or I'm leaving.' Hendrix thought before he took one varmint and cut off all the edible meat, and cooked it for future consumption.

{Alright, Hendrix.}

Afterward, Hendrix waited two days before the Vulture varmints arrived again. However, the amount that showed up was immense.

'What the!? There are so many Vultures!' Hendrix thought before backing away subconsciously while his eyes widened.

Over fifty Vultures flew towards the hill, smelling a large amount of food inside. Once they arrived and landed, they began trying to dig into the hill.

'I guess now is the time to provoke them into attacking me.' Hendrix thought before he picked up a rock and threw it at one of the Vulture varmints.

The varmint In question was hit on the foot, causing a large bruise. However, it and all the other varmints flew up into the sky and began throwing two strengthened feathers each toward him.

Hendrix quickly did all he could to dodge the attacks. However, they seemed to keep coming as the Vulture varmints continued their onslaught. After about five minutes of attacking, he fled, not wanting to anger them anymore.

Subsequently, Hendrix spent four days, constantly checking, awaiting their departure to get his prize. And his patience paid off as on the fifth day, they all left the area, having finished off all the meat on the carcasses.

'I guess It's time to loot all the feathers scattered throughout the premise.' Hendrix thought

He spent another day doing that and placed the feathers alongside his older stash, counting one thousand three hundred feathers.

'I guess I'm going to have to make a sack using the hide from the two Jerboa varmints I hid from the Vultures.' Hendrix thought

Subsequently, he made a rudimentary sack and placed all the feathers inside before tying its top shut with a long piece of hide and tying it to his back. Afterward, he grabbed his cane and walked along the path, knowing over a week already passed.
