Chapter 20

My mouth started to water at the aroma that hit me. I sat there completely enamoured with a burger unaware of my surroundings, until Kevin sat in the chair besides me.

I glanced at him, noticing an expectant gaze on his face.

"What?" I asked, trying not to drool from the aroma that attacked my stomach.

"I bought some food for you, but I'm not sure if it's to your taste" he gestured towards the tray of heaven.

"Oh? It's for me?" I stared at him in shock. He bought this... for me?

"Yes, i can take it back if it's not to your"-

"That's not necessary!" I yelled, louder than I intended.

"Pfft."

I lifted the burger, staring at it with awe. It's beautiful...

I bit into it and soon juices spilt into my mouth, tender meat and salad paired together perfectly.

"Mmm" soon I was digging.

I felt a strong sense of nostalgia wash over me. A rainy day spent regrettably inside. I was sulking over the fact I couldn't go out and my dad could tell. He made me a burger, much smaller than this, but either way I was happy then.

Warm fluid slipped down my face as I stuffed my face. A warm hand patted my head, just like  that rough hand.

I wiped them away as I finished the food and then pulled out my phone and texted George a quick message.

——————-

*George's POV*

Maybe it was the weather but today felt like shit day. Fucking rain...

I groaned at the pouring turrets that hit the ground and splashed in a million direction. A familiar gloom that came along every once in a while hung over me.

It never made me feel upset or anything, no- fuck that, it pissed me off. Why the fuck can the weather control me!?

My phone buzzed.

It was Eddy, seems like she has a new pet that wants to meet me...

A smile laced up my face as I grabbed my jacket. My motorbike was still being repaired so I grabbed my bike reluctantly.

The meeting place an old warehouse where a lot of the drugs that go around town were produced. It was made to seem abandoned and for passerby's it really seemed that way.

Broken windows, the large doorway had chipped wood all over it leaving the old paint job mostly up to imagination. The morning light gave the place a peaceful feeling but when night fell it was chilling to come near the place.

I kicked open the door causing the hinges to shriek as the door banged open.

"Eddy!" I yelled unable to hold back my annoyance.

"Why the hell you gotta be so loud in the morning?" A voice moaned loudly from another  room, following the voice I came to the familiar sight of middle-aged woman who held a cigar. There were bags under her eyes.

"No sleep?" The question would normally be soft spoken but I almost barked it out.

"Was up all night looking for this sucker" she threw her cigarette butt towards the far end of the room.

A man possibly in his twenties sat half-conscious tied to a chair. His mangled hair spilt over his freshly scarred face.

"This him?" Although he asked he still walked over to him.

"Yep." The enthusiasm in Eddys voice could bring the dead back to life.

"Alright." He crouched down to make eye contact with the guy, a sadistic smile spread across George's face, "I heard you got some secrets we need to hear and you ain't speaking..." The man started to move his lips but I shook my head as my smile along with my excitement grew. "No, you don't need to speak. I prefer it this way." The mans eyes widened.

The wide eyes suddenly made me remember Hamper and her stupid nerves. I snorted suddenly catching the man's attention.

"Aren't you going to hit me?" He asked. Fucking masochist...

"Not if you want me to!" I shouted hitting the leg of his chair. It broke and he tumbled down. The broken piece stabbed into his leg.

My phone buzzed and I pulled it out of my pocket.

'I ate a full meal so don't kill me later' -Hamper

A laugh bubbled up in my throat and before I knew it I was laughing out loud. This fucking idiot.

"Kids finally gone mad..." Eddy muttered.

"Your right Eddy. I've gone mad." I finally managed to calm down and smiled as i remembered the gloomy girl who had an interesting personality.

"Is it a girl?" Eddy asked, her voice croaking as she made her way up to him.

It was a girl, but it wasn't like that...

I suddenly recalled the image of Kevin smiling fondly at Elliots hair and frowned. A strange irritation gnawed at me.

Right, i was just looking out for her... that was it. That was all it was...

"It's not like that."

I shook the strange thoughts that intruded my peaceful space and went back to the task at hand. I got some money to make...
