POV: MC
As I walk off the massive helicopter onto the docks of Duel Academy, I take a deep breath of the brisk salty sea air. I straightened the fit of my brand new Obelisk Blue jacket I am wearing open over my normal outfit. Despite the chilly weather I refuse to compromise on my looks.
Chuckling at my own stubbornness I made my way off the docks and towards the throng of new students heading to orientation. It wasn't long before I was standing among the other new students listening to chancellor Sheppard give a short welcome speech. As I was making my way towards the girl's dorms for Obelisk Blue students, I noticed that quite a few eyes were on me.
I did my best to power through the crowds of muttering teenagers. Making sure not to make eye contact with anyone as to not draw attention to myself. As soon as I entered my assigned dorm room I let out a sigh of exasperation.
Looking up, I'm surprised to see that I'm not alone in this room. Sitting on the couch was a girl I had never seen before in the anime. She hasn't seemed to have noticed me yet. From the looks of things she is hyper focused on arranging her cards.
I gave my potential new roommate a quick once over. She was fairly short, not Cyrus Truesdale level short, but still fairly short. She has a similar style of haircut as myself except for her hair is a chalky blue color. There is also a cute looking darker blue hair pin made to look like a cartoon version of blue-eyes white dragon.
I quietly made my way behind the girl in order to take a look at her deck. To my surprise she is actually running a Toon deck. Although, from the looks of things she more or less copied Pegasus's deck from the Duelist Kingdom tournament.
Deciding that I have sneaked around enough I spoke up.
"So you are running a Toon Deck huh?"
My sudden appearance must have scared the life out of the girl. Since she jumped up and out of her seat making one of the most adorable Yelp noises I had ever heard. I couldn't help myself and I reflexively muttered.
"So cute."
Looking at the mortified and embarrassed expression on the girl's face, I quickly apologize while scratching my cheek.
"I'm so sorry for starting you. I just didn't want to disturb you. You looked so focused."
Hearing my apology the girl let out an annoyed sigh before replying.
"It's fine I can tell you meant no harm. However, it's still rude to peep at another Duelists deck!"
Wincing at her words I bowed my head in apology.
"Sorry I didn't think of that. My bad."
Seeing the girl nodding her head in acceptance of my apology I introduce myself.
"Anyways, my name is Miko Kami and I am pretty sure we're going to be roommates. Means we are going to be seeing a lot of each other this year so let's try to get along."
I noticed a slight widen of her eyes as I said my name. She probably heard about my entrance exam duel. Figured as much.
"So you are the one who managed to summon the Unstoppable Exodia at the entrance exam duel. That was a pretty sweet duel! Anyways my name is Tina Took. As you saw earlier I use mostly Toon cards in my deck."
Nodding my head in understanding, I give Tina a wry smile before asking.
"Yeah I noticed that. I am just curious, isn't that the deck Pegasus used all the way back in the Duelists Kingdom tournament?"
Tina's shoulders slumped as she let out a tired sigh. She then gave me a sad smile before answering.
"Yeah, I actually got it as a reward for winning a tournament he was judging last year. He said he want to pass on his old deck to a Duelist who can make his Toon cards great again. But I am struggling to think of a way to improve it."
(AN: I want to point out that this is the version of his deck before all the new support cards he added. Meaning there is still a bunch of normal non toon monsters in the deck.)
Nodding my head in understanding I began to rub my chin in thought. Suddenly I heard the familiar voice of Exodus speaking in my head.
'Master, I can sense a duel spirit within Miss Took's deck. I believe it to be Relinquished.'
Trying to not let the surprise show up on my face. I began to give some serious thought to helping this girl improve her deck. Before I was just going to give her some tips and let her figure out the rest. However, knowing that she has a duel spirit, especially one as powerful as Relinquished. I'm positive if I can get her to a competent level with her deck she will be a huge help with the coming shadow riders bullshit.
