11 Chapter 10 | Siren Siren Siren weo weo Syrus!?

Right now I was in the woman's bath with Jasmine and Mindy. Earlier today, Illumi and I had waved at each other and these two wouldn't let it go.

They had been fantasizing and making up outlandish stories to either try to get a reaction out of me or just for themselves... I hope this won't start rumors, I sighed.

''Kyaa! he was really cute!'' Mindy said.

''Who would have thought Lexi was holding out on us.'' Jasmine added.

I could only shake my head, these two wouldn't realize it wasn't anything like that. If I was curious about one thing about him it would be his dueling, I still really wanted a duel with him, I also wanted to duel the Jaden guy too, but from what I'd seen he was about as good as Chazz, maybe a little better.

Though it wasn't that I thought Illumi wasn't a good guy, he was just someone you'd have to learn how to keep up with, after that he was a fun guy and surprisingly a big brother type... He reminded me some what of Atticus... They'd probably be good friends...

I felt a hollow feeling in my chest, but I submerged myself in the water before I could get lost in it.

Shaking my head as I surface, I stopped thinking about negative things and listened into what Jasmine and Mindy where talking about.

''Can you believe what that Jaden kid said to Doctor Crowler in class today? He's got some nerve to talk to a teacher like that! Completely disrespectful.'' Jasmine said as before turning to me.

''Don't you think Alexis?'' She asked me and honestly I had a bit of complicated feelings about that.

On one side I thought it was nice he stood up for his friend, but on the other hand he could of handled it better.

''I can't blame him for standing up for his friends.'' I answered Jasmine, not wanting to look down on Jaden's friendship.

''Uh...! I guess so...? When you put it like that...'' Jasmine seemed perplexed with how to react to that, but she could at least sympathies with him.

''Maybe, but Illumi was waaay cooler. And so much more mature!'' Mindy added and I could only nod my head.

That was the other side of my thought, although Jaden stuck up for his friend, he could of gotten himself or both him and Syrus in trouble. It's not a good idea to get onto a professors bad side, especially Doctor Crowler.

The way Illumi stepped in and handled the situation was way better, he mediated before it could turn bad and even encouraged Syrus to answer. Heck he even admonished Jaden for acting that way towards Doctor Crowler.

It was apparent the difference in their maturity by that, I guess that was one of his elder brother moments he sometimes showed.

Thinking that I was reminded of the time he worried about Syrus. Looking back on it, it seemed he was trying to help Syrus speak in front of the crowd to get over his fears...

He was weird, but he was a nice guy.

Getting out of my thoughts, I turned back towards Mindy and Jasmine but they where still talking about Illumi.

''Yeah, your so right! I heard he got 1st on the written exam and basically 1st on the practical test. He even had to fix that Jaden guys attitude, I feel bad for him.'' Jasmine said.

''And~ your forgetting he's a total hunk! I mean tall, muscular, and good at dueling he's the total package!'' Mindy said.

''How do you know he's muscular?'' Jasmine asked.

''You didn't hear? Apparently in P.E. he had the wrong gym shirt size, so some girls saw hist muscles while walking by, from what the boys change room rumors stated he had a 6-pack!'' Mindy answered explaining her information.

Suddenly, the topic of the conversation went to a weird direction, though I could somewhat understand. To other's Illumi would be considered really attractive, he's tall, good looking, a good duelist, and apparently muscular, on top of all that he was a fun person to be around... if you could handle his 'energy'.

Thinking about him, I was some what reminded of Zane, minus the 'fun' personality part. After all, Zane was even considered the most attractive male student on the obelisk girls secret ranking list.

Though I just couldn't see Zane as 'attractive', he was my brother's best friend after all.

But I could understand wanting someone more fit rather than unfit, as your physical health could majorly affect your dueling performance.

Snapping me out of my musing, Mindy asked a question I was also wondering.

''Just how good of a duelist do you think, Illumi is?'' Mindy asked.

''There's a rumor, he might be the best in our grade!'' Jasmine added.

''That's impossible, Alexis is the best duelist in our grade! Right, Alexis?'' Mindy counted and turned to me.

''Yeah you could beat him easily, right?'' Jasmine agreed and turned to me asking my opinion.

However thinking about it, I couldn't give a solid answer. I'm sure I could beat him if I duel him, but at the same time feel it may go either way.

''Maybe. I think I'd win...'' I gave my unsure answer and Jasmine and Mindy didn't know how to respond. Changing the subject Jasmine, said something crazy, that even made me double take.

''But did you hear, there was a rumor, Miss Fontaine was trying to hit on him.'' Jasmine added.

''No way, really!? Is that true?'' Mindy asked.

''A few seniors were talking about it, so probably. But don't tell anyone, ok.'' Jasmine confirmed.

I felt like I heard something I shouldn't have...

However before I could question it, I was distracted by a scream.

''It's a boy!'' Someone screamed, hearing it Jasmine and Mindy put on an angry expression and ran out the bath quickly putting on towels.

I on the other hand, thought it would be taken care of since so many people where running over and decided to go and get dressed.

But as I was finishing getting ready, Mindy ran over and called me over.

''Alexis! Apparently the guy came because of you.'' Mindy said and I was slightly surprised, not remembering making any plans with any guy or anyone for that matter, much less telling them to come to our dorm.

Deciding to get to the bottom of this I followed Mindy and found Syrus tied up in front of the stairwell. Slightly surprised I furrowed my brows, my first thought was that he had snuck in here and I was slightly angry that he would betray Illumi's trust. My second thought was to find out his reason before making a decision.

Deciding to question him I foldout something shocking. Apparently he had been given a love letter from me, but I had never given out any love letter. 

Taking the 'lover letter' I read it over and was instantly, annoyed. Someone had made a fake love letter and they hadn't even written my name correctly. A part of me was annoyed at the sender and another part at Syrus for being tricked so easily.

''Hey, wait a second. This note is made out to Jaden Yuki.'' Jasmine said and Syrus seemed to be even more depressed.

''So I can't even get a fake love letter...'' He grumbled and I begun to feel sorry for him

''I'm sorry, Syrus.'' I said feeling pity for him, but Jasmine didn't seem to trust his words.

However as we where talking Miss Fontaine walked into the hall way.

''Girls! What in the world is going on down there?'' She asked.

Quickly, we hide Syrus behind us and I talked to Miss Fontaine.

''Alright what's up?'' She asked standing at the railing.

''Geez. Sorry, Miss Fontaine. We'll make sure to keep a lid on things.'' I quickly replied trying to act natural.

''Well I should hope so, it's nearly midnight! and I have Pilates in the morning.'' Miss Fontaine said and walked away.

Turning around we started discussing what we should do and an idea popped into my head.

''Why don't we use Syrus as bait to find out about what we where talking about earlier.'' I said and Jasmine and Mindy exclaimed.

''Seeing if that Jaden guy was the real deal or just a fake and a fraud.'' Jasmine said with a bit of venom in it.

''Seeing just how good Illumi is?'' Mindy answered with stars in her eyes.

as Mindy and Jasmine gave two different answers at the same time, they looked towards eachother and started to argue.

''What do you mean, we can use this to nock that Jaden guy down a peg.'' Jasmine argued.

''Who cares about that dork, let's focus on Illumi! He's way cooler than that Slifer loser.'' Mindy argued back.

It seemed both of them understood the others point but weren't willing to drop their argument.

Personally, I was thinking of getting Illumi to come, since he was like an older brother to Syrus, but now that I think about it the letter was sent to Jaden.

Now I was conflicted on weather to use Syrus as bait for Jaden, who I wanted to duel and Illumi, who I also wanted to duel. It was already a fact that Syrus would be used as bait.

Conflicted myself, I decided not to get involved with Jasmine and Mindy's argument and allow them to figure it out.

''Then let's do this! Well anonymously send a message to both of them, and Alexis can duel who ever comes first.'' Jasmine offered and Mindy seemed to agree to it. I was slightly annoyed that they had made the decision that I would be dueling one of them for me, but I didn't say anything since I couldn't really think of a better alternative at the moment.

And so, using a voice changer, we messaged both Jaden and Illumi anonymously and waited for one to show up. 

About half an hour later, we began to see a boat slowly coming into view as we watched from the back of the dorm. Looking closely a red jacket could be seen on the person rowing the boat.

I guess Jaden was the one who got here first... and the one I'll be dueling.

I was slightly disappointed in not being able to duel Illumi, but there wasn't much I could do at the moment.

Slowly the boat came closer and closer, however as Jaden neared the shores, I noticed a something else in the water. Turning towards it, it seemed to be a fish or something swimming towards us.

Mindy and Jasmine seemed to have noticed it as well as they looked on.

''Is that a fish?'' Jasmine asked.

''W-We don't have any sharks in the lake, right?'' Mindy asked and I shook my head.

Even Jaden, who was rowing towards us stopped and looked towards the approaching 'thing'. Soon however as it grew closer we realized what it was and where stunned, it was a someone swimming.

As he came out of the water, we where meet with a tall, lean, and muscular figure who was shaking his hair of all the water. However when I saw his face, I recognized him...

''Illumi?'' I asked with a voice full of disbelif and confusion.

''Yo.'' He replied with a wave as he walked over, to stunned to reply I just stared dumbly at him.

''Why did you just come out of the lake?'' I finally voiced my question.

''There where no boats at the dock, so I had to swim.'' He replied nonchalantly and I realized their was only 2 boats at the other end of the lake, one Syrus took and the other Jaden was on.

But if that's true he swam the distance of the entire lake!?

Seemingly not caring about my internal dilemma he explained.

''I got a message saying Syrus was kidnapped, so it was a matter of course.'' He said like it was common sense then turned to me.

''But why are you here?'' He asked and I couldn't answer.

What was I suppose to say, 'I used Syrus as bait to duel you'? Could I even say that to the person who just swam an entire lack for his friend.

With a mix of guilt and embarrassment, I couldn't look him in the eye and turned my gaze to the side.

''about that...'' I started, but turned to Jasmine and Mindy looking for help.

Jasmine shook her head wearing a similar face to mine. While Mindy was busy starring intently at Illumi's bear chest.

Syrus on the other hand, although still tied up, was on the brink of crying with a touched expression.

''At least someone cares about me...'' He said half crying...

''So what's wrong Syrus?'' Illumi asked with his head tilted and still wet from the water.

''Well to sum it up, I'm a big loser...'' He mumbled only causing Illumi to look more confused.

''Your friend over here, trespassed into the girl's dorm.'' Jasmine said, after clearing her throat but wasn't looking him in the eyes. She probably still feels guilty making him swim the entire lake.

Illumi turned to Syrus with a surprised face as if asking if it was true.

''Hey, it's not like tha-'' Syrus denied but Mindy cut him off.

''...And now that your here, so are you! N-not that there's anything wrong with that though...'' Mindy added after Jasmine nudged her with an elbow.

''Yeah, so if you don't want us to turn you in, you're gonna have to win your freedom by beating me in a duel right now.'' I said after clearing my voice and regaining my composure.

Illumi turned to my direction and seemed to be giving me an admonishing gaze, which made me a little self conscious before sighing tiredly.

''Alright, let's do this quickly...'' He said as he adjusted his duel disk.

Soon however Jaden joined us on the dock and greeted us.

''Hey guys, what I miss?'' He asked and Illumi responded.

''Syrus trespassed on the girls dorm and now I have to beat Alexis , so they don't turn us in for trespassing as well.'' He said and Jaden's eyes widened slightly.

''I guess I'm exited to see you duel, Illumi... but...'' Jaden said befor turning to me.

''Threatening your friends into a duel isn't cool.'' He said and I felt a bit sorry before shaking my head, Jasmine quickly came to my defense.

''And what do you know! Syrus would have been expelled straight away, but Alexis is giving you guys a chance, at least!'' She said and I felt slight grateful at her defending me.

Soon, me and Illumi started to head over to the boats and where about to have a duel on the lake.
