1 The Beginning of the End

Jin sat in his chair, leaning back while looking out the window. His brow furrowed, "What am I going to do?"

His company was on the verge of bankruptcy, it wasn't easy making movies anymore or getting the correct people to cast.

His fiance Minyu starred in all of them, he couldn't believe it when his financial partners told him about his loss of income as his company was the largest movie-making.

His movie director Tae Kim had mentioned two years ago that Minyu was a bad actress, he knew that but how did you tell the woman you loved that she was horrible?

Tae's exact words were, "Minyu has the emotional span of a gorilla! If you don't find someone else soon, I am going to quit!"

But he had convinced Tae to stay and paid for Minyu to have some extra drama lessons. Jin let out a sigh, "I have to come up with a new plan."

His thoughts went back to when he met Minyu at an audition two years ago, he had smiled at the clumsy woman who dropped her things to the floor but when their eyes met he knew she was the one and gave her the job, against Tae and Yoongi's judgement.

He closed his eyes, they were right of course. Since Minyu starred in every love-drama movie of his... They failed in every aspect, his scriptwriter Hoseok also gave him an earful about it.

His office door burst opened, "Jin, my love! Tae, Yoongi and Hoseok are mean to me!"

Jin turned his chair around slowly, just what he had needed, Minyu in tears! This wasn't his day, they were supposed to be filming their largest movie, 'You have melted my heart.'

But with everyone on edge... This movie had to succeed. "My love, I am sure that they don't mean it.'

Minyu sniffled as she approached his desk, "They said I am going to get fired!"

Jin bit his lip, why on earth would they say something like that? He had taught the drama lessons would have paid off by now. "Darling, I am sure that they are joking, you have been going to your lessons."

Minyu let out a wail, "I have never gone to the lessons, the teacher said I was a natural. So I have used the money on new clothes, shoes and make-up."

Jin's heart stopped at her statement, so for two years that he had thought he was paying for her to get better but she used the money to buy new things! No wonder his company was on the verge of sinking.

"Darling," His voice was strained, "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"

Minyu blinked and Jin noticed that it had been fake tears all along, his best friend Namjoon was right, she was a gold digger and he fell into her trap right-hook and sinker.

Jin stood up from his chair and repeated, "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"

Minyu's lip quivered. "Because I needed new clothes! I have to look pretty for you! What would the people say when the CEO of the number one movie company's fiance looks like something weird from the streets!"

"You are fired."

Minyu's face went expressionless, "Excuse me?"

Jin's hands shook in anger, "You have heard me, I said that you are fired."

There he said it, Minyu was nothing but materialistic and his company was failing because of her bad acting, had she even cared?

He blinked as an engagement ring landed on his desk, he looked at Minyu whose face held nothing but anger, "Then take back your small ring! I see you have never loved me! Your company will sink without me!"

Jin watched as Minyu stormed out of his office and slammed the door shut even the pictures in his office shook with the momentum. He sat back down in his chair, his hand slowly reached out at the ring on his desk.

His office door opened again, he looked up hoping it would be Minyu so he could apologise but to his disappointment, it was Tae, Yoongi and Hoseok. The director, producer and scriptwriter and were clapping. "Good riddance, Mr Ceo "

With a small sigh, he asked, "Why are you here?"

Hoseok grinned as he looked at Tae, Yoongi and back at him, "We have a proposal for you."

Jin wasn't in the mood for their weird ideas, he pocketed the ring. "I don't think I am going to like this."

He saw a grin spread over Yoongi and Tae's faces as Hoseok parted his lips. "We are going to hold a competition for the new lead and you will be starring as the male lead!"

All the blood drained from Jin's face, they were going to do what? And he was going to be the what now? He cleared his throat, "That is out of the question!"

All three of them were staring at him, they stepped forward. "You don't have a choice, we have already distributed the pamphlets and the rest of the financial board agreed to this. It might be the only way to save the company."

Jin sat there in disbelief of them, "So you have set this plan in motion without consulting me?"

Yoongi stepped forward, "It was either this or your company sinks. Let's face it, Minyu was horrible, to begin with. You should have never cast her."

Hoseok chimed in, "She hated every script! She always argued with us and the costume department and not to mention-"

Tae stepped in, "She has the emotional capacity of a gorilla. Honestly Jin, what did you see in her?"

Jin stood up, what did he see in her? She was this clumsy little thing with a voice like a nightingale and she had always thought of others before herself. So what changed? "I love her..."

Yoongi grunted, "More like in front of you she is different and when you are not around she is her true self."

Jin didn't believe what he was hearing, Namjoon's words echoed in the back of his mind. "She is a gold digger and she would do anything to please you."

Was it true that she was only different in front of him? Did she only show her true colours in front of others? He sucked in a sigh, "When are you going to do interviews?"

Hoseok smiled at him, "We are glad that you are seeing it our way. We have already advertised on social media and pamphlets went out today. So-"

Yoongi and Tae chimed in, "Starting tomorrow we will be holding interviews and you will co-star next to the women coming."

It looked like he had no choice in the matter, he would have to abide by their rules  "So I don't get a vote?"

The three of them shook their heads and Jin hung his head, "I guess it is settled then. I would be your guinea pig in this movie."

The three of them grinned at him and Tae spoke, "Yes, only this time we will choose the woman who would star in the movie. We want to make sure you both have chemistry together."

Jin lifted his gaze to them, "then so be it."

Hoseok, Tae and Yoongi bowed before leaving his office, they had some planning to do. Jin sat back down in his chair, he picked up his telephone receiver and dialled Namjoon's number. It rang three times before he picked up. "Namjoon are you busy tonight?"

"You aren't? Great! I need a night out."

There was a pause on the other side and Namjoon's voice came over the receiver softly, "Jin is everything alright?"

Jin sighed with defeat in his voice, "Minyu left me."
