Yuna was running towards the school building, she couldn't afford to be late again. This was her second day of teaching pre-school.
She had finished her studies only months ago even if it wasn't something she wanted to do. Her dream was to become an actress but her parents said that they weren't going to pay for a useless degree.
The only person who supported her dreams was her brother Jungkook, he would secretly find her pamphlets for her to appear on stage plays but no one wanted to give he or a chance as she did not have a degree in that field.
Her dream was to get noticed by the company Films and Co which was the largest film company in Seoul. She even had a small poster of the Ceo SeokJin Kim in her drawer at home. Jungkook knew of the poster and teased her about her secret crush but aa she told Jungkook he was engaged to the company's lead actress, Minyu.
She stopped in front of the school gates, the principal smiled at her, "You are just on time, Miss Jung."
"I- I promised that," She huffed, "I will be on time."
The principal grinned, "It is good to see you made well on your promise. Your class is waiting."
Yuna smiled and walked with the principal to her classroom, she still gets lost on the school grounds. This had much to do with her personality, she was absent-minded and got lost in her thoughts easily.
They stopped in front of her classroom, the principal opened her door and they were greeted with chaos. Papers were flying everywhere and some of the boys were teasing the girls by pulling on their hair.
The principal heaved in a breath and turned towards her, "Well... Um, good luck with your class."
Yuna watched as he stepped away fast, yesterday was an introductory day and she had asked why the previous teacher left. She understood everything now, she stepped into the classroom, closing the door behind her with a loud bang.
The chaos stopped immediately. Nine pairs of eyes turned to her, she gave a small smile, "Good Morning class, I am your new teacher Yuna Jung."
The children began lining before her, they all shouted, "Good morning teacher Jung!"
Yuna smiled at them, they couldn't be bad, could day? She parted her lips but stopped as she noticed the smallest of the nine wasn't looking her in the eye, her ponytail was a bit skew.
She glanced at them one by one, the boys outnumbered the girls, six to three. Her heart broke a little but this was an opportunity to teach them that bullying was wrong.
She cleared her throat, "I have come up with the lesson today, it is called why bullying is wrong."
Some of the boys smirked, the smallest girl took a step backwards, Yina knew that she would have to be strong as there could be many factors that were in play here, "Alright, everyone at their desks!"
The children scattered, each to their own desks, Yuna's eyes followed the smallest, she was walking with a limo so Yina began her lesson about why bullying was wrong.
She took a look at her watch it was almost time for the children's break, she eyed them all as they were drawing pictured with friends and family but her eyes went back to the smallest who was staring at the blank page.
Yuna stood up and the bell rang for a break and the children jumped up and scattered out of the classroom except the smallest.
Yuna approached her and knelt next to her, she hadn't learned their names yet, "What is wrong sweety?"
The girl didn't answer and kept staring at the blank page, Yina touched her shoulder, "Do you want a cookie?"
Yuna knew that pre-schoolers loved something sweet, so she had baked some chocolate chip cookies to reward good behaviour, the little girl averted her gaze from the page and looked at Yuna. "I don't have friends."
Those four words broke Yuna's heart, no wonder she seemed detached, "I am sorry sweety, are you-"
"My name is Suri," She answered before Yuna could finish her sentence, "I am an orphan."
Yuna's eyes widened, no wonder some of the children were bullying her. She was different in their eyes, Yuna smiled, "I will be your friend, Suri."
Yuma stood up and fetched the cookies from her desk, "Here."
She opened the container and offered Suri one, Suri looked at her with wide eyes as her small hand reached for one, "Thank you, teacher Jung."
Yuna smiled, "Why don't I help you with your ponytail?"
Suri nodded as she bit into the cookie, Yina loosened her ponytail and took all her hair back to make a new high one, "They're all done."
Suri turned to her and smiled, "Thank you, teacher Jung."
The corners of Yuna's mouth lifted in a smile, she was going to have a little talk with her class about this, "Suri, why don't we draw a few things we like instead?"
Suri blinked at her, "Can we?"
Yuna nodded and sat opposite her, she took a paper and pencil. "Yes, it can be anything we like."
She watched Suri's expression which changed into excitement and she grabbed some of the pencils, starting to draw. Yuna drew a play which she was an actress off and Suri tapped before her so that she would look up.
Yuna turned her gaze upwards, the childlike image warmed her heart. It was a picture of her holding Suri's hand, who was holding a cookie. "Wow, Suri! You are very talented."
Suri giggled and the bell rung, calling the end of school break. The classroom door burst open and the children came running in and the oldest looking boy said smugly, "Poor, Suri. Can't even play outside because no one likes her!"
Suri's face fell and some of the other children began snickering. Yuna stood up. "That is enough!" She gestured, "Outside now!"
The children blinked at her, no one was moving. "I said outside now!"
Yuna folded her arms, glaring them down and they started leaving the class one by one. Yina followed them, "Why are you bullying Suri?" She asked in an angry tone.
They looked down at their feet, no one answered her question. "Well?"
One of the girls spoke up, "She is different from us."
"She is not different from any of you." Yina said while folding her arms, "She might not have parents but that is no excuse for your behaviour."
The children did not answer so Yuna continued, "Have you ever thought about Suri's feelings? That she might be lonely? And coming to school, she hoped that she might make friends who cared about her?"
All of them looked up at her, she could see the pity in their eyes as they answered, "We are sorry, teacher Jung."
She nodded at them, "Suri needs your protection, you all should be her brothers and sisters."
They nodded. "So what are you going to do?" She asked them, lifting her glare a little.
"We will say sorry, teacher Jung."
Yuna smiled, "Good, I brought cookies for you all and when you apologised, you may all have one."
She opened the classroom door, the children entered and they walked to Suri, forming a circle around her. "We are so sorry, Suri."
Suri was blinking at them, then her gaze found Yuna's, she nodded at Suri. Suri smiled at them in turn, "Sorry accepted."
Yuna was about to say something when she felt her phone vibrating and she took it out, a message from Jungkook.
She unlocked the screen to read his message.
"Hey Sis,
I will come and pick you up after you are done with school. I found an interesting pamphlet at my restaurant."
