Stuart saw she was uncomfortable and quietly stood up without saying too much, "Today is over. Let's continue tomorrow." Edie was dumbfounded, "Tomorrow?"
Stuart put his two arms on both sides of her body, lowered his head, and asked her, "Do you think the injury on my back can be cured after a day or two?" Edie shook her head. How could such a big bruise be eliminated in such a short time!
Stuart then said slowly, "It seems to be hard for you." Edie was speechless. She understood what he meant in his words, but she was so unwilling!
"You can go to the hospital. The doctors are much more professional than me."
He stared at her intensely, "Who made a mistake should pay for it, right?"
His eyes were like black pearls, dark and unique. He stared at Edie and made her subconsciously nod. "Yes." Stuart smiled and patted her on the top of her head with his big slender hand lightly. "Good girl." Then he turned and left.
Stuart left her room with his footsteps, immediately slowing down. He took a deep breath and felt that the fire in his heart had not yet gone out. It was strange that, although his feelings of disgust for a woman had not changed, he could so easily be tempted by her. He had never known the feeling of burning desire and uncontrollable lust until he saw her.
They only knew each other for a few days, and yet she feels so familiar to him. It was as though his life was missing precisely this piece. It seemed that she was the treasure that he has always wanted.
Stuart stood at the door for a moment. Thinking of the stunned face of Edie, the corner of his lip curled into a smile. He could feel a fire roaring profoundly and passionately in his heart. There had been countless instances of overwhelming temptations, but he had never felt anything remotely like this before. This was inevitable from the first time they met.
Not until the door was closed that Edie recovered her mind as if she had just woken up. She patted her red cheeks, leaned back on the bed, thinking about Stuart's eyes. How she yearned for him, she felt she couldn't bear it anymore. She thought about him, gently pulling her close. His touch, his lips touching hers. She could feel her ears burning, and her heart started to beat uncontrollably.
She was shameful! How could she be attracted to a gay man? It was Stuart's fault! What did he want from her, and why can't she stop thinking about him? She knew his secret, but she felt such sadness and had no one to talk to.
What if she fell in love with him? When Edie was thinking randomly, her phone suddenly vibrated. She took the phone and saw the message. The name "Aaron" flashing on the screen made Edie calm down instantly.
Stuart didn't like women, and he had a childhood sweetheart. She also promised Aaron that she would help him. So she had to stop thinking about him. She swept the screen to read the message. "Darling, how are you doing?"
It was Aaron's style, and Edie could almost imagine his flirtatious eyes. Edie hesitated for a while and debated if she should tell him about what had happened at the audition.
"Sorry Aaron, Stuart fell and hurt his back today, while rescuing me."
"Rescue you? What happened? Darling, tell me all the details." Edie briefly told Aaron about today's events, but there was no reply for a long time. Edie was a little uneasy. Was Aaron angry with her?
Aaron specifically asked her to take care of Stuart; therefore, she should take the responsibility of Stuart being hurt. It was her fault. After a long time, she received a message back.
"Daring, it's not your fault. I still need you to take care of Stuart. He often has conflicts with others. You are the person I trust the most, so is that too much to ask of you?"
Edie did not expect that Aaron trusted her so much. She was slightly stunned, and there was some feeling of being moved in her heart. She replied, "Sure."
They ended their conversation by saying good night.
Edie didn't want to overthink about the things that happened today. She threw the phone down on her nightstand and fell asleep.
In an apartment somewhere, a pair of loving eyes glanced at the phone and narrowed slightly, with a smile appearing on the corner of his lips. The man whispered, "It's getting more and more interesting."
When Donald returned home, it was already very late. As soon as the door opened, Joanna came to him and said in a hurry, "Donald, where were you, and why were you gone for so long? I tried calling, but you didn't answer. I was worried about you!"
Donald did not comfort her as usual. He just said, "You are sick. Go and lie down and rest." Then Joanna noticed that his face was very gloomy, and he looked exhausted.
"Donald, what's wrong? Is there something wrong?"
She took hold of his arm and led him to the sofa to sit. She poured a cup of hot coffee and carefully observed his face. You could tell by his silence that he was thinking about something.
She was sensitively aware that there was something wrong but did ask any more questions. She just reached out and gently massaged Donald's temple. The gentle force relieved his headache.
He thought of Joanna's understanding and thoughtfulness to him this past year, and then the haze in his heart gradually disappeared. The trust he had in Joanna made Donald tell the truth, "Joanna, I seem to remember something." Her face instantly turned gloomy.
If Donald had opened his eyes, he would have seen Joanna in front. He would have known that she was not gentle, and the fierceness in her eyes almost spilled.
"Donald, what did you say?" She struggled to control her sound to avoid revealing emotions.
Donald immersed himself in his thoughts by closing his eyes, "It's very vague. I fell almost grabbing it, but I don't know what it is, and I feel that it is indeed my memory."
"Donald, have not been getting any sleep?"
He suddenly opened his eyes and stared at her, "Joanna, did I receive psychotherapy in Finland last year because of insomnia? Why did he suddenly ask this?
Joanna tensed up instantly with her hands on the sofa clenched into a fist, but still said with a confused and pitiful face, "Yes, haven't you always known?" Donald inserted his fingers into his hair disappointedly and said, "Yes, I went to check my medical history today. It was because of severe insomnia. However, I always felt that I had forgotten something vital."
She breathed a sigh of relief and hugged him lightly, "No, Donald, since you have forgotten it, it means that this matter is not important at all." After a while, his emotions gradually eased.
Joanna brought him his coffee and watched him drink it. Then she asked, "Donald, how come you suddenly thought of this?" "I ran into Edie today. It was her that mentioned those five years, so I have always felt that there was something wrong."
Joanna's eyes became cold. It was Edie again!
She turned her head and smiled at Donald, "But you said that you didn't know her and that you didn't want her bothering us again. Did you really have a relationship with her…?"
At the end of the words, she gently covered her mouth, as if she was startled, "Did you lie to me? Did you really have a relationship with her?" Donald didn't know what the truth was. How could he allow such a vague thought to destroy his love for Joanna?
He quickly said, "No, Joanna, I really don't know her. Maybe I'm wrong. It's probably because of those movies I have seen recently…" Joanna rested in his arms and whispered, "Donald, you have been working too hard recently.
Do you want to take a break? I can change my schedule, and we can go on vacation." Donald was silent for a while and said, "That's fine."
