11 Uninvited Guest

'Who would have thought that there is something like this?' I am astonished at my new discovery. The system had told nothing about mutants, mutations, and anything related to it. But as I can see, as long as I explore, I will learn what I want and need to learn. Therefore, I can say that it is not good to rely on the system too much.

Tehe!*

I snicker. I shake my head with a smile and think 'Of course, it is just a joke. What's the use of having a cheat, if I don't use it to its extent?'

Just imagine those protagonists' line [The system isn't something like a God for me to always rely on it. If I wanted to change something and know something, I have to work for it and not cry for the system for help]

'That sucks! ' I cringed with my own thoughts. Although I said this line myself, back then, I am still inexperienced.

Just as I expected, the system gets startled by whether or not I will rely on it.

[Host, aren't you being mean? You just said you won't rely on me too much]

"Shut up! That's from the past. Past is past. Never discuss" I say.

 After resting for a while...

'I didn't expect that I could get another skill today by killing a rock lizard. Ah, nope, I meant a Mutant Rock Lizard.' I smile as I scroll the screen, reading the information about the system given after my command.

It is said that Mutant Rock Lizards, compared to the normal rock lizard, are stronger. To make it easier to understand, they are at the middle of the rank, between rock lizard and earth lizard.

<[Earth Lizard]> Highest.

<[Mutant Rock Lizard]> Mid.

<[Rock Lizard]> Lowest.

I ain't sure if there is a mutant earth lizard though. But of course, I will find it when the time comes. Nothing is sure in life, after all.

The system seems huffing, and it didn't want to talk to me after it got nagged by me awhile ago. Sometimes, I wish I had a normal system like others.

Sigh*

'Forget it' I stretch my hand and yawn, I need to plan my next action I have to do, but for now, I'll take a look at the rewards that I got'

'System, show me my reward box,' I command.

The system didn't act like a child anymore; it responded and the screen showed in front of me.

Even though I have already seen this screen many times, it still gives me sci-fi vibes.

[Achievement: Killing a rare mutant rock lizard]

[Congratulations Host]

'Mm?'

Seeing the word "rare" in the system's description, I finally understood why this is the only time I encountered a mutant one because they are "rare". If even the system considered it as rare, then I think it isn't something that could be found for thousands of years, or more. However, I don't think there's a use for me to encounter one of them again. So, I don't care.

I look at the text messages under it.

[You obtained new Skill: Hidden]

[Do you wish to learn?]

'Meh,' I squint my eyes at the system. I already told it not to ask such silly questions. As a matter of fact, I am not against it if I could directly learn skills after I killed someone.

Sigh*

Fortunately for the system, it isn't the time to make a fuss, or else you I'll nag it again.

"Yes! I want to learn it! " I answer.

After which, the information about the skill entered my mind, one after another. (I can directly get the information after I agree to study a certain skill. However, sometimes I am still asking the system to show me a screen of information; to make it easier for me to review it and maybe I can think of a nice way to make it better)

After the information about the skill, the experience of the mutant lizard with this skill also passes on to me. Just like before, after I obtain the experience, it makes me feel as if I am not foreign to the skill, but I got trained with it for a few years already.

Based on the info, Hidden (skill) is a rare skill that could only be learned with luck. Even for the mutants.

Not only that, but it is also very difficult to master after you get a gist of it. That is the reason why even after getting the experience of the mutant rock lizard about the skill, I can feel that I already practiced it a few years, yet still, a long way to master it.

'This is the first time I saw a troublesome skill like this one! ' I have mixed feelings about it. Happy and troubled. The reason is, of course, very visible. I don't want troublesome things, but I also love opportunities.

Anyway, the skill is about what its name indicated: Hidden. It is about concealing your presence to everyone.

It even said that, once you master it, even if you stand in front of the enemy while the skill is activated, the enemy won't notice. It is like; you are invisible to the target. This skill is invincible when it comes to assassination or sneak attack.

This skill isn't just about hiding your aura, but in every aspect and sense.

Your aura, your smell, your physical, your voice. Of course, the target also couldn't touch you as if you were air if he/she/it accidentally walked in your way. Etc.

Knowing this information, I cannot help but look at the lifeless corpse of the mutant rock lizard not far away, then sigh.

If this one didn't fire up or attack me, but lay low for a few more years and have some practice of this skill, maybe... just maybe, it might be able to obtain the prowess it needs to be considered as a threat to me and might be able to kill me. Unfortunately, because of its ignorance and thirst for revenge, it attacked and got killed by me.

'What a pity!' I shake my head as I say. 'Before it could even achieve the power it deserves, I already killed it. '

'Tsk! Ignorance could be said to be one of the worst enemies of every individual. Not limited to humans but also beasts.' I add.

I pity it for a few more minutes before I turn my attention back to the skill.

'Hidden, Activated. '

As I command, the wind suddenly blows, and I feel my body lightened a bit. Because I got it from the beasts that still have not mastered the skill, I also have no means to use the full potential of the skill.

And another problem is; there is no one nearby to test the skill.

Looking around, there are no beasts in the vicinity. Rather, corpses...

'Mm? ' As I look around, I get startled. 'Why do I feel like the number of corpses decreased? ' I got into deep thought.

'Is there someone here? ' This is the only reliable idea I created after thinking.

However, I can't sense any aura or any trace of someone. I guess I am just overthinking?

After a few considerations, I deactivated the skill.

If I want to know if this skill is as effective as what the description had stated, then I have to find a beast to test this first.

And if this skill is as great as what is stated, that will be a big breakthrough for me. With this skill, the threat of this forest to me will once again be lessened.

Kukuku*

Suddenly, a faint sound rings in my ears. After the attack made by the mutant rock lizard, my ability to cope up with nature rose a little, so is my vigilance. With just that faint sound, I can already tell that someone came uninvited.

So, there really is someone responsible for the corpse's disappearance. Tehe.

Turns out I don't need to waste more energy searching for beasts because it already came on its way to me.

When I shift my eyes towards the direction where I could feel the faint sound coming, my eyes turn big.
