Heavenly Martial Continent

Tianlong Tavern, Tianwu City

A group of city guards were stuffing their faces with meat and booze after a long day at work.

Their supervisor, Mr. Lin thought that his subordinates deserved a reward for working hard, so he treated them to a meal.

As time went on, the group of guards became intoxicated from drinking too much cheap beer.

It was then that Mr. Lin, the drunkest of the group, started gossiping with his subordinates.

"Hey, did you hear? The Heavenly Martial Alliance has made a deal with the Boln United Federation. It seems that the alliance leader, Namgung Wi, wants to integrate the Boln Ranking System into the Heavenly Martial Continent."

"Really? Namgung Wi, the Thunderbolt Sword Devil, is willing to bow his head down before the Bold United Federation? That man is famous for being a stubborn mule. What made him change his heart?"

"He was probably coerced by the Boln United Federation's Ten Saints. I heard that each of the Ten Saints is as strong as the Heavenly Gods of the Heavenly Martial Alliance. It wouldn't be a surprise if the alliance leader was forced to swear his allegiance to the Boln Federation if the federation really wanted it to happen."

"True, but I don't think that's the case. I heard that the Thunderbolt Sword Devil is a generation younger than the Heavenly Gods of the alliance. So his vision about the alliance is much broader than his seniors."

"Hmm, if it's like that, then it's completely possible for Namgung Wi to contact the Boln United Federation to strike a deal on his own. But I do wonder, would the Heavenly Gods allow the Boln United Federation to spread their teachings here? The Heavenly Martial Continent did suffer greatly under the federation's hands that one time."

"Bah! There's no point thinking about any of that. We're merely city guards that protect Tianwu City. It's already above our pay grade to stop fights between martial warriors, much less think about the future of the Heavenly Martial Continent."

With his face red from intoxication, Mr. Lin waved towards his subordinates, indicating that he wished to stop the gossip here.

His subordinates nodded before they continued to stuff their faces with more meat and booze.

Once the city guards became wolves again, a white robed man stood up from the table next to them.

He left a silver tael at his table despite only eating a plate of pork dumplings.

The white robed man looked at the group of drunk city guards laughing and enjoying their night out.

He revealed a melancholic smile at the sight of it.

'In a world filled with hardships and depression, it's nice to be an ignorant city guard sometimes.'

The white robed man let out a sigh before he put on his straw hat and walked into the night.

Heavenly Martial Alliance Headquarters, Tianxian City

It was currently the end of the 11th month of the Wu Dynasty.

The Heavenly Martial Alliance had gone through countless obstacles and survived many hardships to get where it was today.

In the olden days, the government and the alliance would respect each other's territories and not get involved in matters regarding each other.

The alliance will deal with the martial artists while the government will deal with the common folk.

And unless the martial warriors harmed the lives of the common folk, the government would not step in to resolve matters related to martial warriors.

But as time passed, the continuous expansion of the alliance alerted the officials as well as the Emperor of that time.

The Emperor didn't want to share their power with the violent martial warriors of the martial world.

But if push became shove, the Emperor knew that they would have to step aside to prevent an all out war between the martial warriors and their own empire's soldiers.

All their worries however, were relieved when the 35th alliance leader of the Heavenly Martial Alliance declared an oath to the Heavens.

{As long as the Emperor remains competent and wise, the Heavenly Martial Alliance will do its best to support the Emperor and the government in every way possible.}

The 35th alliance leader received a lot of warriors' hate because of the oath.

But again, as time passed on, the warriors who hated the alliance leader's guts passed away one by one, and were soon replaced by their descendants.

Some martial warriors respected the oath, some saw the oath and thought that the 35th alliance leader was the Emperor's dog.

While some martial warriors treated the oath with disdain and utter contempt. In their minds, martial warriors were born to fight.

The law of the jungle shouldn't change because of one guy making an oath to the Heavens.

So in a matter of 10 years, several factions formed depending on their views of the Heavenly Oath.

The Righteous Faction was led by the Heavenly Martial Alliance and its self proclaimed righteous warriors like the Zhuge Clan and the Namgung Family.

The Evil Faction, made up of the Hao Sect, the Blood Cult, and the Tang Sect, respected the Heavenly Oath but chose to only help the government when it benefited them.

The Neutral Faction was created by a group of martial masters well versed in secluding themselves from worldly matters.

The faction's various martial masters went on to create the Kunlun Sect, the Wudang Sect, as well as the Heavenly Demonic Cult.

Of course, although the sects within the Evil and Neutral Factions had orthodox sects in them, it's due to their different views that the Righteous Heavenly Martial Alliance labeled them as such.

Afterwards, the Heavenly Martial Continent experienced 300 years of peace before the Heavenly Martial Alliance started to cause trouble for the other factions.

In the name of justice, the sects under the Heavenly Martial Alliance started to find ways to stir up trouble within the continent.

Because in reality, the Righteous Faction couldn't call themselves 'righteous' without completing righteous deeds, right?
