"I thought we had an understanding!" Rue finally said after we caught our breath.
"What do you mean, nothing to my knowledge says that." I answered with gritted teeth as I was enduring the most unimaginable pain for as long as I could remember.
"No... Not you... Her! She is the one that we came to an understanding with."
"She warned me not to interfere with her objective and I asked the same of her. Was it so hard to just go on with it?" Rue said feeling like she has been betrayed.
"You should know by now that you can't trust anyone in this world. If they get the chance, they wouldn't think twice before they stab you in the back." I said trying to console her.
"In case you are forgetting something, I am badly hurt. So would you please help me and stop lamenting about everything that goes wrong around you. This is the harsh truth that the world carries and you must live with it even if it let you down." I talked her out from doing something harsh that she will regret for the rest of her life.
And I think that it worked. As she stopped pacing and crouched infront of me so as to take a closer look at the wounds that I have sustained.
"But how is this even possible?" She asked after thinking through what has happened in the last ten or so minutes.
It has been crazy for the both of us. I mean how could someone even use a bow and arrow in this era. And the most absurd thing is that it isn't just your average arrow, it was something entirely out of a fairy tale.
How did she even create arrows made out of pure electricity, as in like shit it's still crackling and discharging so much power that wherever it passed power surges occurred and a blackout followed closely.
And that wasn't the most craziest thing. The arrows were precise and the destruction that followed after it hit on something, it was a sure kill.
"I'll tap on your meridians and close them so as to limit your blood loss until we get a medical kit. And you smell like barbecue." Rue said as she tapped me on a few places.
"Thanks, and you smell awesome too." I smiled after I replied to her compliment.
The arrows were fast and they seemed to have a burning effect as only two brushed near me but that was enough to burn a thin layer of my flesh and turn it into a crisp.
"I'll give you a little advice. Don't ever believe anything someone blurts out in an intense environment. They always lie so as to get you to favour them in your stead." I said with a serious face.
"Sure I'll keep that in mind for the future. And that includes you too."
"Absolutely, if it'll make you more relaxed then it's fine with me." I answered her with a smile that I couldn't keep up with as I was still in so much pain.
From the dilapidated building that we were currently taking refuge, the Bellaqua Hotel was still in view. By the looks of it, it has taken an extensive damage as it was slightly slanting on one side and displaying an awkward view.
Cries and screams filled the air as people started running from the immediate affected area. A blackout consumed a fifteen block area and only the flashlights from law enforcement vehicles were the ones that flooded the area with red, blue and white lights as the only source of light.
It pained a great deal to see that I am the one that caused the situation. How could it even not.
"Thank you." I said out of the blue as the pain continued to intensify.
"For what? All am thinking about now is how to end her life so that all of this will stop." Rue said as she looked at the carnage that has consumed the city.
"For being a true friend, though it's only been a short spun of time since I met you." I said in earnest as the view infront of me started to become blurry.
"Are you dying on me?" Rue asks as she started to inspect my eyes. "How many fingers am I holding up?"
Rue now had a her hand infront of my face waving it from side to side holding up a finger.
"One. What? You thought that I was dying... Am too young for that. I haven't lived my life to my full potential yet." I answered her with a chuckle.
"Good. Wait for me I'll be right back. It'll take a few minutes tops." Rue said while pinching my cheeks.
"You are not her match, she was born of battle and she can endure anything. Don't loose your life for a cause you were not meant to partake." I said a little worried as I knew her true intentions for asking me to wait for her.
"Don't look down on me, it's a disgrace. I promised her as she did me. I won't show mercy and neither will she. She interfered when she released the first arrow. I promise I'll be ruthless." She said that as she stepped on the open window before jumping and disappearing out of sight and into the night.
"What one has not experienced, one will never understand in print." I said as I stood up with difficulty and watch the area where Rue was a moment ago.
As I watched the empty window. My eyes turned completely black as I turned to walk the other direction.

A taxi was seen to be waiting for someone at the base of the Dragon Tiger Mountain. And after a few minutes, an old monk boarded it and it headed to the airport without any delay.
After an hour or so of driving, the taxi stopped at the airport and the monk got out with a small bag and entered the airport.
After sometime, a plane left Jiangxi headed to Jing and from there the monk was supposed to take a direct flight to the US.

Just as I jumped out of the building, an explosion took place consuming the entire building in a go. Debris scattered all over as it crumbled upon itself.
Thud!
I landed on the ground and rolled a few times so as to limit the impact of the force that I came down with from breaking my bones into pieces.
I wanted to run but for some reason I couldn't. The building was still falling down and I would be turned into a paste if remained where I was but for some odd reason, I walked out of the perimeter slowly. Totally unconcerned.
The atmosphere was again filled with the sounds of approaching jets and missiles as they stood out like falling comets from out of space.
A mile away from my position, Rue was seen to be jumping from one roof top to another in just a single step. When she took a step, she was already a dozen of meters away and her silhouette seemed to be invincible as she was just too fast.
She suddenly stopped upon landing on a certain roof top and looked back after she heard the incoming sound of a missile.
But she was too late because when she turned back, she saw the building that she was in a minute ago being hit and it started to fall.
She was so close to the industrial building that Kai was in but due to the sudden twist of events, she was left in a dilemma.
As she was still thinking whether to continue or go back, a Storm Shadow and several AGM-122 SideARM were released from a few jets that were passing over at an incredible speed. The absurd thing is that all of this firepower was headed toward the industrial building that Kai was in with her men.
Rue was left with eyes wide open as she just looked at the intense destruction ahead of her as the Storm Shadow razzed the building to the ground. Helped with the air-to-ground missiles, the buildings around it were seen to be falling too as the earth itself shook leaving cracks everywhere for as far as the eye could see.
Tears escaped her eyes as they trickled down passed her cheeks. By the sheer amount of power the shockwave was able to display, Rue's hair was seen to be flowing with the passing wind and that made her look too amazing if not for the dirty appearance that covered her up.
"Aya, scan for any life signs in the two buildings that were hit." Rue spoke after being silent for a while.
"Am afraid that there is none." Aya's voice came through from the small earrings that Rue was wearing.
"And the probability that they survived that." Rue asked Aya again.
"There's an 82.76% that the aliens pulled out before the missiles hit and a... 4.31% that Max got out alive." Aya answered after a hesitation.
"That low?" A frown appeared on Rue's face as she asked Aya for confirmation.
"I did a scan on him before you left. It was heartbreaking even for me." Aya consoled Rue so as to keep her mood up.
"But why not a 0%." Rue asked.
"Am sure the entity awoke and took over his body, with that he could be safe as we speak." Aya answered trying to assure Rue that there was a possibility that Max was safe and sound.
"No we have to find him, the entity that you speak of is too careless. Unless we find him fast, he is fucked up pretty bad." Rue said as she jumped her way through roof tops with vigor trying to find Max.
"I can't track him." Aya blurted out as Rue wasn't listening to reason.
"Why? How is it possible?" Rue barraged Aya with questions.
"I just can't." Aya replied.
"Now what should we do?" Rue asked finally coming to a stop.
"Maybe home will do." Aya suggested.
"Yes my parents must be worried. Bring the car around." Rue answered.
