The Last Line

Clicking his tongue at the enigmatic meaning of this last sentence, Axiolypito paid closer attention to this floating orb.

'Is this the dungeon core?' he simply wondered as he extended his hand toward it, it was quite a fair bit smaller than he would have expected though, as he could hold it in his palm, albeit barely.

"I guess you're not that good of a dungeon huh?" he truly had no bounds, to even insult a random dungeon core.

As if irked by this remark concerning its size, the moment the wretch touched the core, he was shocked, forcing him to step away.

Inspecting his palm, he saw nothing too alarming, only a few red arcs of lightning still dancing on his hand.

"Fighting back?" he clenched and unclenched his hand a few times until no arcs were visible anymore, meanwhile, the core suddenly zoomed further away in a straight line with a burst of red lightning.

Without any further ado, the core entered into a slot that was exactly its size in the wall on the other side, Axio simply eyed what was happening with a bored expression.

'It's energy must have been sapped when it was forced to summon my kin rather than one of its toys, else it would have already summoned another monster or multiple of them...' that's what he assumed and it was only natural to assume so, summoning the man in dark was nothing like summoning one of the monsters in its catalogue.

It was actually pretty miraculous that it hadn't fallen to dust instantly and even had some spare energy to zap the wretch and move around.

"A panic room?" questioned Axio to no one in particular as he checked on his previously sliced arm, as planned, the torrent of XP had restored it to its full glory, not that putting such a weak limb back together was a feat to boast about, any goober with healing magic could have done so without any expertise.

He carefully removed the stitches he had put in place, not even bothering to check his cheek since it was clearly back up as well, he was as fresh as it could, as if he had just bursted out of a corpse moments ago.

He began checking if he had gained anything new from this little massacre, already aware of the upgrade to what he already owned, completely uncaring about what the core was doing.

He could clearly see in his peripheral vision that what the core had just entered wasn't a room for protection, but a ten meter golem!

Carved out of durable stone that didn't appear to be anything special appearance wise, the construct certainly had a striking appearance, covered in fancy details that made it appear as if was an ancient creation.

The golem was also quite bulky, with wide arms and legs that were almost just as thick as its torso, clearly marking it as flexible as a frozen corpse.

It was holding a huge axe with a tiny handle which design was just as laughable as the golem itself, completed with its minuscule had, it looked like a child cradled next to a brick wall had been the architect behind its conception.

"That explains why you didn't bother with making actual floors" Defy was a dungeon with nothing but boss arenas and the same decor in every nook and cranny and now the explanation to the why was right there.

The mind behind it all was a freaking incompetent with no taste and no understanding of practicality, Axiolypito had already placed it at the bottom of the hierarchy and yet, it had found a way to dig even below that.

He finished the analysis of his newly obtained ability right as the laughingstock began wobbling its way toward him.

Truthfully, considering its design, the golem was doing a pretty good job of sprinting in his direction but there was speed and then there was speed according to Axio.

The wretch simply stood his ground with his hands in his pockets, wearing a neutral expression on his face but the scar on each side of his face, made it look like he was grinning from ear to ear.

The golem readied his axe as it stomped the ground, aiming to chop the midget's head right off his shoulders, but the core was deemed to be disappointed.

The blade did connect with his neck but instead of slashing through as intended, the wretch was simply carried alongside the swing without even a slight cut.

His hyper flexibility, coupled with his softened bones, softened flesh and elastic skin, both of the latters being new additions, allowed him to just take the hit.

He casually repositioned himself while being dragged through the air, unaffected by the air pressure and stood on the side of the axe, crawling up the golem's arm and disappearing from sight like a ghost.

The dungeon core was convinced that the wretch was just holding onto the golems back but for some reason, it was unable to confirm it.

As the core of this dungeon, it had eyes everywhere, no intruders should be able to simply escape its sight like this.

It was a third of a true god in its dungeon! It was supposed to be omnipotent, even Cine's shadow abilities couldn't conceal her position from the master of the dungeon, however, it seemed like a wretch had ignored this fact.

It may be supposedly omnipotent, but it was only on paper.

The core suddenly felt a bit lightweight...

It felt like this was a sign of a danger to come but there was nothing to be seen anywhere and the integrity of the golem was still untouched, not that Axio could even scratch it even with all of his power.

Still, this strange feeling wasn't going away and only growing, it was like he was being moved around, as if he was lightheaded and on the verge of falling unconscious, ridiculous ideas for a dungeon core that was incapable of experiencing such feelings.

Suddenly, it heard a sound and saw the invader, swinging without thinking, this time, channeling the last of its red lightning in the blow to fry the fucker on the spot.

The lighting was channeled but not in the right way however.

It didn't come from the right direction.

It's confusion was quickly revealed as suddenly, the image of the wretch vanished was replaced by the sight of the dungeon core being shattered by its own attack.

How did it end up here? When was it removed from the golem? How was it possible to do this without the core noticing it? Was that the source of the strange feeling?

The core only realised one thing, it had been convinced to be still inside of the golem, that it kept on watching from the same perspective, using the eyes of the golem to better aim its attacks.

And what an aim it was, it absolutely wrecked itself, shattering into pieces.

Before it completely died off, it saw the actual wretch, just clowning on its demise.

"Fuck you!" it was so infuriatating, he managed to awaken speech just to curse at him.

Truly fantastic.
