Wretch: Exception To The Rule

Born from blood and guts, given life when a human's is brutally reaped, wretches are nothing but filth and destined to die a pathetic death, befitting of the dirty little creatures they are. One of them however, born with strangely colored eyes and blessed with greater intellect, sought nothing more than destroy his fate and to desecrate the laws of nature that bound him. This wretch wished nothing more than to be an exception to the rule.

Expeditive And Torture

'A fine addition to my collection' thought the lich to herself as the already cold corpse of Hogan rose back up and soon disappeared in a dark miasma.

One should always be careful against mages, always keep up a barrier, no matter how thin, ho mana to protect themselves from more insidious spells.

A fire ball could be evaded, but if the mage decided to make you catch on fire instead, as though you spontaneously combusted, you could hardly dodge it if you couldn't detect this sort of magic.

The greater the mage, the more likely they were to employ such tricks and the more skilled they were, the more likely one was to be completely oblivious until it was too late.

In the case of Wide Hat Hogan, he hadn't even realised what had happened.

He wasn't to be blamed though, he simply lacked the talent and skill to see it coming as well as actually blocking it.

However, he probably should have been more worried that a lich would be able to use death magic but it was such an unusual element to have and even rarer to be have a good affinity with, most undead's were attuned with it but still couldn't use it and if they did, it wasn't nearly as effectively.

Even most 'necromancers' weren't users of this element, using other methods to achieve such results such as simply making use necromantic arts.

It wasn't so strange for him to assume that such a high level spell wouldn't be used, in fact, even after it had happened, most people didn't assume it was death magic, Cradled Lich didn't let her mana show in her spells after all, it had just looked like Hogan died for no apparent reason.

She calmly walked away and left the arena completely empty and free of any destruction, as though nothing had happened.

The gravity mage had casted a spell of incredible destruction and nothing had happened, the fight was over and the next day soon arrived.

Dragon Eater, Milanda versus The Condemned!

Axio had to say he had been disappointed in this Milanda person, she had a bunch of cool tricks sure but after meeting Dramentia and getting to hear more about this kin from the sealed zealot, he had hoped that she would also be a user of the dragon's pale white, oozing flesh.

Sealed zealot was fairly skilled with it, easily molding himself into a necklace currently around the wretch's neck and this guy had neither eaten his own or a dragonic creature.

However, she wasn't at all and was just another sort of zealot, a woman born fully human aspiring to become something greater and like many, she believed that dragons were that greater something.

She had devoured many draconic beasts and creatures, but just because something had a share of draconic lineage or was technically of the same family, it didn't mean they were anywhere close to dragons.

And saying as much, The Condemned wasn't your typical dragon either, for one, he was beyond massive, to the point that the arena took the time it took to be completed simply to be able to fit him inside, finding such large living beings was incredibly rare and even then, beings that size tended to be weirdly elusive.

Even then, the wingless dragon still towered over the arena whilst lying down.

Although seemingly impossible to fell, the minister had obvious weak points, in the form of where his wings used to connect with his body, these parts weren't covered by his nigh unbreakable dark red scales, instead covered with since long healed but no less disgusting fleshy protuberances.

There was always the dragon's four eyes, such soft parts were a weakness on nearly any creature possessing them but a closer inspection would reveal that the eyes weren't typical either, they ressembled rough stones that vaguely ressembled ocular globes.

One could even see rough edges, it wasn't a weak point at all, perhaps weaker than the rest but it wasn't saying much.

The fact that this was a duel also didn't help Milanda.

In any case, as she and the public wondered how such a mighty monster could be brought down, the duel started and unlike before, the minister didn't let his opponent shine for a little while and just spat on the devourer of dragon.

A drop of lava made contact with her head on, the drop being too large for her to evade before it was too late.

The lava remained perfectly liquid, consuming her whole before hardening into magma.

He loudly breathed out of his nostrils, waited until the one in charge of the barrier gathered himself and once it was lifted, he casually stood up and stepped over and out of the arena.

The next fight that came was much similar, at least in the way that The Scourge didn't allow its opponent to show off but it was much longer as the monster tormented Darkhand Alar for nearly thirty minutes, assaulting his mind and psyche with horrible visions.

Until the man was so damaged that his brain failed to function properly and his body just shut down on its own.

Whether The Scourge was just a sadist or if it simply had no other way of attacking, no one could tell for sure, especially since the non-monsters had trouble even catching a glimpse and realising The Scourge was even there.

Just like that, only one fight remained, Faceless Lord against an opponent that had managed to remain shrouded in mystery, nameless and ironically enough- Faceless.

Still, there was little to worry about.

Axio had nothing better to do than to wait for it all to end, since everyone who had to pay him would remain and only fulfill once this little event was over.

After this, the Obsidian Queen was deemed to want to either secure their position in Roderst or push immediately against the nearby nations, whatever she wanted to use the apprehension this tournament would cause for.
