The Desperation for Survival
You could see the convoy was moving again they lose some soldiers along the way due to the Ambush that the Russian lay ahead.
"This world is now in turmoil with every war is just around the corner." Anna who stated those in her thoughts while she was frustrated for the moment as she remembered that ambushed.
Anna sigh out of frustration and stress, despite her cold attitude and strong demeanor she was just like any other human. She feel her own weakness and her regrets. "Killing is just another part as a Human..." She just lean back in the Sd. Kfz 251. She then took a glance at William who seems to be calm, but she notice his fingers then shook a little which he grabs to calm those fingers down.
"I guess even you feel scared..." She thought, while looking in the skies, as the time passes by it was already night. Since it would take them 1 more day before they could reach Minsk at this speed.
You could see Ursula, Karin and Ingrid together, while Manfred, Peter, Klaus are on the other side.
"Fuck me! That ambush scared me shitless..." Klaus said, as he didn't expected to be ambush this early of his life.
"Me too... I almost piss my pants when that happen." Manfred stated.
"You guys are wussies! I didn't even scared!" Peter who has such arrogance in his words.
"Oh shut up Peter! You almost fell down and hit your face first if I didn't grab you." Ingrid who corrected him.
"Oh shut up Ingrid! I could literally hear you screaming so hard." Peter retaliated.
"Oh Fuck you Peter!" Ingrid then shows her middle finger at Peter.
"You two should stop, if the Gruppenführer heard the both of you, you will be done for." It was Karin who said that, she was the MG1 or the one who handles the Machine gun and it's maintenance.
"Yeah I agree with Karin, you guys need to calm down for now... I know it's hard to recover from those kind of attacks, but that's not hell yet." Ursula who said that and backs up Karin from her statement.
"I agree with both of them... by the way have you seen how brave our vice squad leader is!? He didn't hesitate to board inside the Panzer like no problem and didn't even hesitate to shoot it down!" Klaus stated.
"He is our vice squad leader for a reason! I also heard that he was one of the most dangerous soldier that went undergo training." Ingrid who added some information.
While William who is far away from them, as he can only see the campfire and the tent of the convoy. "My memories, it's slowly returning... my memories are a mess I can't differentiate some of my memories with this new one, you really have to be kidding me... just what kind of torture is this for me." William then goes even further away from the group.
He grabs his Kar98k and left his helmet in the ground for now. "It hasn't been that many days since I was transported from this hell... and those people I have killed... I... I don't know if my mentality can continue. I'm not used to killing nor fighting... I'm just a regular citizen that's been transported from this world!" William was confused and he was stressing himself.
He wasn't just stressing himself, he was filled with a mountain of thoughts, his family and his friends are not here anymore... He was alone from this world with no one to talk to about his problems. "This memories of mine isn't much helpful today right now... I keep remembering some of my past about my training and how I become a soldier in this world."
"I can only remember Me and Anna are close friends in our training services, but Anna was able to accomplished her training first and raise through the ranks in just a year, while for me I took a casual way... until the war broken and I was assigned in one of the division that storm through Poland, but that's all... My memories didn't even revealed if I even killed some people or not."
"Just why..." He then goes behind a rock and tuck himself while holding in both of his knees.
"It seems you're having some problems as well William." Anna who then appeared behind the rock.
"AAAA!" he then jump out of surprised he didn't expect Anna to appear behind him.
"So William... I see in your end you are feeling afraid as well." Anna who saw through him, but William just nodded.
"Yes... Frauen Gru-" He was about to finish his formality, but Anna then cover his mouth with her hands.
"Just call me what we call each other... just remove the formality now... I don't want to deal more head ache." Anna stated as she was still annoyed and stressed.
"Alright Anna, how about you... are you feeling scared as well?" He asked bluntly.
"Truthfully? Yes, I am scared as well." She answered, while this surprise William.
"I see, then why did you kill one of the crew with no hesitation?"
"Well it's apart of my job... and to release him suffering, I'm not dumb to not know on what is happening to our country... It's already been told about the genocide towards the Jews, and especially the place Auschwitz... Just what the hell did they think genocide was the answer against those Jews." Anna who was shaking, she knew she killed someone but she is keeping that burden from herself.
"I guess I'm not alone... We have our own path to partake... and to defend those paths, we must overcome this war and survive." William said to comfort Anna, which Anna just smiled.
"A desperation for survival isn't it?" Anna then offered him a bottle of water, which he gladly accepts and drinks a little of it and he passed it towards Anna.
Anna then took the bottle and drink it on it as well. "Shit... I'm really fucked up aren't I? Who knew the cold and heartless Anna was this frail of a human." Anna was roasting herself.
"That maybe the case, but on what I see you're just fighting for your own survival, and to live is to leave behind your weakness and never show them... It's just your will to survive.... for me in the other hand... I'm just alone in this world now." William who indirectly told his origins. He was alone in this world, and it will continue for years as he was inside a war.
"Hey William... thank you for being with me when we first met in the training service... I'm glad that I have someone to talk to with this problems of mine." Anna who slowly opened herself up.
"I could say the same thing... but the war is just the beginning for the incoming disaster of this world." He then stood up and he offered his hand at Anna which she took and pulled her up to stand up.
"As expected of my second in command... Thank you William."
