Chapter 60

(POV: ¿? Time:(Continuation of the previous chapter). Location: Somewhere near the border of the Protodragon tribe of Adexzyr).

In the dangerous situation the little proto dragon found himself in, the proto dragon began to rise.

-Although I would like to kill you all now, I will not. I will escape this with the strength of this body and my combat experience. This is a good test. A challenge is worthy of me. (Nero)

Although he was very confident, the situation was not as simple or as straightforward as he painted it.

-First I will rise as fast as I can. (Nero)

The adult proto-dragons did not take so long to approach the little one. And just as one of them was about to bite his leg, the little one picked up his wings and used the weight of the prey between his legs to swoop down.

-Now I just have to stretch my wings and take advantage of the speed of the fall. This will hurt. (Nero)

With the full weight he had, it didn't take him long to reach a fairly fast fall speed. And from one moment to the next he spread his wings and began to glide, taking advantage of the speed he had acquired.

-Now, I have to gain some distance. I have to get to a more favorable place. (Nero)

Although his speed had increased, the adult proto-dragons were closing in fast. The move he had made earlier had surprised them all, and in the time it took them to change direction, he had managed to gain a little more time in his escape.

Unfortunately, he was still a long way from home.

As his flight speed began to slow, he began to flap his wings hard and fast.

-Ahead is a mountain range that I can take advantage of. (Nero)

As he thought, he approached a fairly wide mountain that was part of a group of other mountains. It was full of deep crevasses and many large stones jutting out like spikes.

-Now, I just have to position myself. (Nero)

With speed and his enemies at his heels, the little guy began to lower his flying height even further. Again taking advantage of the weight his prey was adding to him.

The adults, seeing their target approaching the ground began to get excited.

"He's getting tired, we must take advantage!" (PD Dark Brown)

He said excitedly.

The others simply nodded as they approached even faster. Now that their target was starting to slow down.

Soon one of the adults began to prepare to drop on top of his target as he readied his frost breath.

"Hold still little one. It will hurt less if I do it fast" (PD Blue).

"Try it, you rejected loser!" (Nero)

The insult, though simple, was enough to increase the anger he felt. So he quickly approached his target intending to tear him apart with the claws of his hind legs.

Just as he was about to strike, the little guy flapped his wings wildly and, moving his body to the side, narrowly dodged the attack.

"OLE, YOU LOSER!" (Nero)

The enemy continued for a moment due to his speed and inertia, but behind him came the other 2.

-I have to go lower. (Nero)

Lowering his altitude even more. The little guy began to move side to side, and back and forth. It almost looked as if he were dizzy or having trouble carrying the load he was holding between his legs.

The pursuers thought they saw a moment of weakness, so they both lunged after the little guy to keep him from dodging again.

-A little further down. (Nero)

With the strange movements and the continued descent of the little one, the others got close enough to attack him.

The purple one launched a poisonous breath attack against it, but the little one in an apparent stroke of luck, took advantage of its strange wobbling to propel itself away from the attack.

Unfortunately, behind the attack of the purple one, the brown one came, preparing his breath that threw sand and could cover the vision of the little one.

This attack did its job, but it did not cause so much damage to the little one's body. It also failed to hit him with its claws, because the little one was no longer in the same place and now it could not see him due to the cloud of sand that now covered everyone's vision of its target.

"Fail!" (PD Dark Brown)

Dark Brown shouted to the rest.

"But it's still inside, just keep attacking, it can't escape!" (Dark Brown)

As he said this, the Blue proto dragon had approached again and began to prepare its icy breath, at the same time the purple one did the same.

Soon both breath attacks attacked the cloud of sand, dispersing part of it. Unfortunately, neither attack had hit its target.

The little guy had taken advantage of the moment when they were concentrating on attacking at random, to stop flying all at once and end up approaching a very low point near the face of the mountain range.

"None of our attacks hit" (Blue PD).

"I can't see much with so much sand" (PD Purple).

In his search, the dark brown looked down and saw how the little guy was trying to escape using the stones to hide his escape.

"He's down there. Quick!" (PD Dark Brown)

Following the direction in which the brown was moving, they all continued the chase. But they had to slow down their flight a bit, as the various stones protruding from the face of the mountain might injure them.

"I'll go ahead a little to corner him. He can't escape if he stays hidden behind those stones." (Blue PD)

The others nodded at what their partner in crime said.

"Don't throw any more of your attacks Grulg. you'll only hinder the view and this little guy is very sneaky" (PD Purple).

The dark brown named Grulg just nodded, as the purple charged his poisonous breath and got closer and closer to the little guy who was noticeably trying to fly as fast as he could.

Soon a large jet of poisonous liquid came out in the direction of the little one.

Seeing the attack of his attacker, he used his prey as a shield and a rock to defend against the attack of his enemy and his sight.

Watching as the prey he was carrying seemed to melt in the area where it hit the enemy's poisonous breath, he thought.

-$%&#$$... He almost got it right. (Nero)

After the purple one continued to launch several attacks like this, the little guy's prey had lost 35% of its body, but the acid seemed to continue to eat away at the corpse, which by this time was bloody and somewhat mangled.

In his pursuit, he noticed how the blue suddenly appeared in front of him carrying his icy attack and preparing to throw it at him.

Observing this, the little one suddenly accelerated.

Using all the strength he could he launched himself head-on against blue, who by that time was caught off guard by his action and launched his attack without being fully prepared.

A bit of the icy breath attack hit the little one in the leg and partially froze a large part of it. Unfortunately for the blue one, the little one had taken the opportunity to embed the carcass in his mouth, thus blocking the exit of his attack.

He had taken advantage of the fact that his prey weighed a little less and that he was prepared to accelerate quickly and dodge an attack, so he easily evaded the ill-prepared breath and threw what was left of his poisoned prey into the jaws of his enemy.

"Goodbye, you foolish loser!" (Nero)

He shouted as his flight speed suddenly increased and he began to fly farther and farther away from his pursuers, who could not keep up with him among so many stones and who had approached for a moment to observe the state of their partner in crime who was now wounded.

(One hour later)

-I made it home.

*Laughter*

-Even without using my powers, I'm not that easy to beat.

With a sense of pride in his chest and tired, the little boy arrived home and as soon as he saw his mother, he said.

"I managed to catch something mom, but tomorrow I'll tell you. Goodbye" (Nero)

And suddenly he fell on his face to the ground. He fainted, with a frozen paw, and parts of his body were purple and corroded.

Adexzyr looked with surprise at the little one who had arrived so abruptly and who had quickly fainted.

His wounded state only served to make Adexzyr understand what could have happened and he became enraged.

-Whoever did this is going to die! (Adexzyr)

And while holding back his fury, he grabbed the little boy and gently laid him on his bed. Then he took some fruits and flowers that were stored in an icebox in a part of his cave, and carefully applied them to all the wounds on the little boy's body.

-He will die very painfully.

Adexzyr's bright eyes began to glow even brighter due to all the fury and murderous intent he felt coursing through his body.

(The next day)

"Yaawwn" (Nero).

He woke up after about 15 hours of sleep.

-I hurt all over. (Nero)

He thought as he looked at his wounded body.

-Adexzyr made good use of the fruits and herbs I taught him. Normally they only used some of them and mostly ate them to recover. Applying anything externally they did not. Although they did wash their wounds with some water.

As he thought, he scanned the place for his mother.

-They attacked me intending to kill me and probably to make Adexzyr free of cubs so she could look for a mate. Almost like the behavior of male lions with the cubs of female lions. If I'm not mistaken this should be somewhat strange behavior, but still possible, as is clear in my case.

*sigh*

-Although I doubt Adexzyr would have accepted any of those losers who aren't worth all the food they've hunted. Most likely he would seek revenge and he has the means to achieve it... As long as he discovers the perpetrator. That's why they attacked me when I was hunting alone... What I don't understand is if they just got lucky or were watching us know I would hunt alone. This is my first time hunting without Adexzyr, so it's probably the 2nd option.

Soon the sound of flapping sounded at the entrance. After a few moments, Adexzyr entered with prey in his jaws.

"Hi mom" (Nero)

He said as he struggled to his feet.

Adexzyr observed her hatchling's attempt to stand so she released her prey and spoke.

"Don't get up. You are still wounded. Here, eat this so you can recover." (Adexzyr)

-Acting weak always works. *Laughter* (Nero)

"Yes, mom" (Nero).

He said obediently.

As soon as Adexzyr approached his prey, Nero crawled over and tenderly stroked Adexzyr's chin a little.

Returning the gesture, Adexzyr told him.

"Eat. Then you will tell me who did this to you" (Adexzyr).

He said as he stared into Nero's eyes.

-It would be fun to watch Adexzyr beat those fools to within an inch of their lives. But I will claim my revenge when the time is right. (Nero)

Without answering his mother, Nero began to eat.

Adexzyr watching his calf without answering him, narrowed his eyes and then proceeded to lie down beside him.

After finishing, he said to his mother.

"Mom" (Nero).

"Tell me, who hurt you?" (Adexzyr)

"Mom, I... I want to beat them on my own" (Nero).

Listening to his brood, he snorted.

"*Hump* You're still too little to decide. Tell me, who hurt you!" (Adexzyr)

His mother's tone of voice was beginning to rise and the fury was almost palpable. Adexzyr was holding back from the murderous rage that was evident in her gaze.

Looking hesitant under his mother's gaze, Nero from one moment to the next adjusted his stance and stared his mother in the eyes.

"I want to take my revenge, Mom." (Adexzyr)

As Nero watched as the anger in his mother's eyes seemed to increase, he said... before anything could happen that could hurt him more.

"Please, let me do it. It won't be long before I can stand on my own and I want to make you proud by defeating all 3 of you in front of everyone" (Nero).

Adexzyr still seemed upset, but after listening to her brood's reasons she began to calm down a bit.

After a few minutes where they both stared at each other's eyes, Adexzyr said.

"Very well. But first I will train you. If you want me to believe you, you will have to show me that you can do it" (Adexzyr).

"Yes mom" (Nero)

He said while nodding.

Author: I apologize for the delay and for not being able to fulfill my promise of the 2 chapters. I completed them, but for various reasons, I couldn't post for all these days. As an apology, I brought you 3 chapters instead of 2. I hope it counts.

On the other hand, I want to know your opinion about this part of the story. I plan to continue it for a few more chapters to show some of the proto-dragons. Much of what I have said I have made up. I try to make everything I say logical and coherent with a species that represents the bestiality of such powerful beings as the proto-dragons and how intelligent and cunning they are now that they are evolving as a species. Soon we will meet Alexstrasza the red dragon and one of the 5 aspects and also her sister Ysera, the green dragon, and another of the 5 aspects.

As this part of the story is being explained, you will know some more things and I will give logic to some more things. There isn't much history about the proto-dragons, their customs, behaviors, society, and so on. So I am taking the trouble to do it and presenting it to you with what I think would be what they might have been like as a species and what they were like when they freely ruled the northern skies of the mega continent Kalimdor.

I will do this with many other species and show several at the same time so you can see the gradual evolution of many of them. For example the Trolls to Elves. The Tauren from their more primitive predecessors. The Pandaren before slavery and after it. The guardians that created Ra, Odyn, and the others, and their conversion from beings of stone and metal to beings of flesh by the curse of the flesh.

I won't take so many chapters between explanations... unless I want to introduce some important character in WOW or some OC that could become one.
