(POV: MC. Time: Closer and closer to the birth of the future Aspect Dragons. Place: Northrend)

MC Narrating.

I spent a lot of time observing the wild Protodragons. I witnessed how they evolved little by little. Although in the process I probably unintentionally induced more than one nightmare.

I like to study them, so I spent a lot of time at night entering their lairs and assimilating into their bodies, without actually possessing them. It is likely that the weight of my mind, even if it was only a part of it, was too much for their primitive selves.

Most fascinating of all, obviating the fact that I am studying future dragons, is learning how magic is involved in the evolutionary process.

I'm not sure what the evolutionary process must have been like in my previous world, because I don't know. I have never studied these subjects on my own. But here, in this world, I can see that magic is linked to everything and everyone. The link is such that it is inevitable... at least as far as I know so far.

Magic is an amazing thing, and although I am still defining what it is. I will study it in more depth another time. A well-thought-out definition is very helpful to my view of it, even more so with other things I have in mind.

I continue. Magic, when intertwined with living, or rather "conscious" beings. It increases the speed of their evolution. Changes occur faster in the offspring. The innate abilities can improve, merge or possess synergy, depending on the innate abilities of the mother and father.

Changes also occur with objects or whatever is in direct contact with them. An example would be the well of eternity and its nurturing waters brimming with magic.

The point is that it involves the state of health of the parents, and the environmental conditions, among other factors, which, although minimal, can make a big difference if a selective breeding practice is made.

-Mmm... I suppose something along the lines of what Neltharion did, but without the need to sacrifice so many baby dragons for being "weak", "defective" or "unlucky".

Although I can see that it is more difficult for the practice of incest to lead to negative consequences, if we avoid it as much as possible and improve the environment to be more balanced when it comes to the growth of the offspring, there is likely to be a great improvement in the genetics of the Protodragons as a whole. Of course, it would be gradual and not explosive, but still, it would be worth it.

(Time later)

During these few millennia of observation, I have also realized that there will soon be an improvement in their intelligence as a species. Most remarkable to me, apart from the colors they present. Very curious that they are so colorful. Is that the Protodragons have been creating their spoken language.

I have not observed any writing, but it is interesting how they have been changing their communication over the centuries. It won't be many hundreds of years before the future protectors of this world are born.

-*Sigh* Time is passing so fast and I haven't even noticed. I feel a little old.

I shook my small head quickly. The sudden movement, caused my big, plush ears to flap back and forth, eliciting an adorable performance.

I answered my earlier thought myself.

-I don't age, so stop thinking like that. Don't be silly. (Sentimental Thought)

And I also thought.

-Just because the body doesn't age doesn't mean you're not old. (Rational Thinking)

-It doesn't mean I am either. Look up the definition and see if you can, silly. (Sentimental Thinking)

-... I won't get into a debate with myself again. The point is, I wasn't born yesterday. (Rational Thinking)

-Perfect, then don't debate this. Don't be silly and let's get on with our dreams. We're almost there and you're going to give up now...? There's no use worrying and tying ourselves down. (Sentimental Thought)

-... (Rational Thinking)

-That's the way I like it. Me with reason, and your silent. (Sentimental Thinking)

...

It amuses me a little to talk to myself when I have free time. Well, it's either that or start nagging or tormenting someone to amuse me a little. Of course, I only do that with food. I know I can leave some little traumas in some...

...

(Time: 3 thousand Years Later.)

-It's amazing how they grow up so fast.

I thought as I watched a group of about 300 Protodragons of various colors living among mountain peaks.

-They live in caves in family groups. Each female Protodragons can spawn up to 7 eggs. The colors of the parents may or may not be the same, and their offspring, unless their parents are of the same color, are usually of different colors.

I watched in my lovely little way, as a group of Protodragons carried a large moose-like animal.

-They are carnivores, although I know they can eat vegetables. On the other hand, groups of similarly colored Protodragons have formed. Their communication between groups is usually neutral. They are territorial, but lately, due to intelligence, they are more organized and it is easier to communicate between "tribes".

I smiled as I observed their growing community.

-Thanks to them, I am now truly the first dragon in existence. All thanks to the fact that I was able to study their body fully.

* Giggle*

An adorable little giggle rang out.

-Even though my title will not be recognized by future dragons, I can accept that fact. Not only for the sake of keeping the future facts regarding dragons but also because I am a... benevolent being.

With a confused face, I thought.

-I guess if I am a god... in the end, they believe in me and worship me as one.

Thinking for a while, I concluded.

-According to the definition I remember of being a "God", yes I am... Well, I am a benevolent God. *snicker*

And without much to do, I just continued to lie on a mountain peak while watching the little Protodragons babies learn to fly.

(POV: UNKNOWN with a small tail and scales. Time: A few years later. Place: Protodragons community).

(Warning: This part of the chapter is a rhyme and may not rhyme in English. Sorry, I don't know how to fix this).

(Narrating with rhyme.)

Inside a nest of Protodragons, in a mountain.

A small creature was found.

His jubilation was notorious because he did not stay still.

And in high spirits, she thought.

-Today mother told me that she would teach us how to fly. I can't wait any longer.

The little creature was a Protodragons baby.

Its color was pink. Its wings were a lighter shade.

Its mouth and eyes were the same color, a beautiful purple.

In the nest were also more of the small litter.

There were five in all. Enough mouths to feed.

Two were blue, one was brown.

And the smallest of them all was a pretty vermilion color.

All the little ones were restless.

They waited attentively for mom's arrival.

For they all wanted to learn to fly.

"I think I hear mommy coming!"

Said the brown one.

In his voice, you could hear all his excitement.

A large shadow soon fell.

Showing a large Protodragons adult.

"Mom (Vermillion)."

Said the smallest of them all.

And soon a female voice rang out.

"Hello children, are you ready yet?" (Mom)

"We're ready, Mom" (Pink).

Spoke the pink one. The oldest of the whole litter.

"All right. Today you will learn to fly, so pay close attention to mom" (Mom).

All the children were attentive.

"Yes, Mom" (Children)

They responded without hindrance.

They all approached the entrance of the cave.

"To learn to fly, you must spread your wings wide." (Mom)

With the space at the entrance, Mom and the children could fit in without fail.

So Mom spread her big wings and flapped her wings to fly to the front of the entrance.

"Now children, do as I did." (Mom)

They all nodded, and the eldest spoke.

"I'll try it first" (Pink).

So he opened his wings and forcefully began to flap them.

Brave came to the end. But when he looked down, she hesitated.

"Look at me." (Mom)

Mom said.

Heeding her, the gaze flipped.

*(Inhale)

She inhaled.

And with more strength, she flapped her wings.

Soon, flying she was.

Happy she was.

"Mom, I made it." (Pink)

With a smile, her mother nodded.

"Well done my child, I knew you could" (Mom).

One after another, the children flew.

But at the entrance, the smallest one, with a lot of fear, stood.

He had not managed to fly.

Looking down terrified him.

"Come, my child" (Mom)

His mother encouraged.

"Just do like your brothers, and spread your wings wide" (Mom).

Though the little boy, he tried. Though he closed his eyes and flapped.

For the little vermilion, just imagining the fall scared him.

*Sigh*

"You won't fly today. Go back inside" (Mom)

Said, Mom.

And even though the vermilion flies as his brothers and sister wanted. Seeing the fall, a favor wasn't doing him a favor.

"Yes, Mom" (Vermilion).

Said the little boy sadly.

Mom soon began to guide and teach her children.

Well... those who flew with her in the sky.

Though without Mom realizing it, Vermilion had come out again.

He watched his siblings fly with jealousy. He wanted to make it too.

He decided to try again and surprise mom.

So he spread his little wings and flapped them vigorously.

Still, the flight didn't take off.

He thought for a moment, then remembered.

His mom and brothers, before the flight, made a slight jump.

He did, but something happened. He had fallen because of a mistake.

He could not fly, though he fell and spread his wings.

He couldn't, because he was circling endlessly.

Nerves made him scream.

"MOM!" (Vermilion)

But he could not see her.

(BERMELLON) "MOM!!!, HELP ME!!!" (Bermellon)

But she wasn't around.

When he was almost on the ground he hit. A small shadow managed to grab him.

"Little brother, are you okay?" (Pink)

The little pink girl asked worriedly.

His big sister had caught him. Good thing she had siblings.

"Y-yes." (Vermillion)

She replied trembling. For she had seen death waiting.

"*Sigh* How nic-"

But suddenly the little guy fell again.

The pink one had grabbed him wrong. It had slipped out of her paws.

In the heat of the moment, the pink one didn't hesitate.

She darted down quickly, following her little brother.

But, although she managed to grab him again, when her wings spread, the ground hit.

*POOF*

The snow rattled.

And soon the pink one with difficulty got up.

One of its hind legs had broken.

One of her wings was torn.

A little blood trickled from her mouth and her brother didn't get up.

"Brother!" (Pink)

I scream.

...

But there was no answer.

"Brother!" (Pink)

She called again.

With difficulty, she bent down to check.

Her leg and wing hurt, making it hard to hold on.

With her mouth, he dug through the snow and found her brother.

She pulled as best she could, and to the surface of the snow, he emerged.

"Little brother!!!" (Pink)

Pink shouted, startled.

Her brother lay motionless and with his eyes closed.

From his small mouth, a lot of blood was coming out.

On his side, there was a big wound.

One of his wings had a strange shape. Probably broken and segmented.

"Little brother... *Sniff*" (Pink).

Pink cried, seeing her little brother and his blood spilled.

Lying down next to him to give him some warmth, she could see something white coming from his wounds.

It contrasted with his skin that blended with his blood, and stained the snow beneath his expressionless countenance.

The little vermilion had some ribs that pierced his skin.

His rib cage was caved in.

Poor little Vermilion.

Out of jealousy of his siblings, out of a desire to fly, out of fear of heights, and wanting to make mom proud. The little one died not to see tomorrow.

*Crying*

-Sorry I didn't catch you better. (Pink)

Cried and wailed the little pink one.

*Crying*.

Tears were falling from the eyes of the little pink girl.

She saw the corpse of her brother with sadness.

Her pain stabbed her heart and clouded her expression.

*Crying*

-Little brother. Sorry, little brother. Sorry.

"Little brother..." (Pink)

Her tears wouldn't stop and her tender voice sounded.

(End of rhyme)

* Paff *

*Paff*

You could hear the snow being crushed by something.

*Paff*

With difficulty because of her wounds, the pink rose and searched alertly for the source of the sound.

*Paff*

Soon she turned her gaze, and a small animal was in front of her. It was inches away from her face, so, frightened, the pink one backed away.

Watched as the small snow-colored creature watched her, then approached.

"Get out of here!" (Pink)

Warned the little girl, baring her teeth.

With difficulty, she moved to cover the body of her fallen baby brother. She would defend her little brother from such a creature.

"Stay away!!!" (Pink)

She warned again.

This didn't scare the little animal though.

"Kyuu kyu kyu kyu!"

From its mouth, a sound like laughter escaped and caused it to twitch its nose slightly.

And before the pink one tried to attack, the small animal asked.

"I see you need help" (MC)

Spoke a tender voice. Like that of a 7-year-old child.

The pink one was surprised.

"Let me heal it before it's too late" (MC).

The pink one did not answer. It just watched intently the strange eyes, of the little creature in front of it.

The creature moved its head to one side, causing its large ears to twist.

"Very well." (MC)

Nodding, the little creature approached fearlessly.

And when the little pink one lunged as best it could bite it, the creature only jumped up dodging its attempt.

"Nkyuu kyu kyu kyu. Nice try" (MC)

When the pink one stood up. She could only watch as a small smile graced his muzzle and he stood next to his brother.

"Now, watch carefully." (MC)

Soon a greenish light began to emanate from the small creature's body and covered her brother.

When the light ceased, her brother's body was fully healed.
