Extra Support and Supply

The soldiers crashed into the wall of fighters, quickly the battle escalated to a close quarter engagement, swords, spears, shields all clamored against each other with soldiers from both sides exchanging hits and sustaining injuries to themselves.

Venator thought of how to break through while they continued fighting, wishing to end the battle quickly. He looked on his empty hand, soon it began glowing blue as frost rose above it. He stared at the wall as soldiers began surrounding the sides.

"Hope this works, I'll need to perform some distraction to quickly break the wall."

Venator charged head on at the wall, the ice in his hand growing while he gripped the sword tightly.

As he got close enough, he aimed his hand down. A pillar of ice immediately formed below him, causing him to rise upwards. After the pillar reached above the wall, Venator jumped down. He landed in the inside of the camp itself, seeing soldiers already swarming every side of the camp.

The officers and few soldiers on the rear looked at Venator getting up, with faces of shock and fear.

One of the officers charged at him, raising his sword up.

In a quick hit, Venator slammed his hilt into the officer's head, knocking him down. As he fell, the rest began charging towards him. He quickly sheathed his blade, removing it from his waist. He gripped onto it like a sword, looking at the soldiers running towards him.

Like a blunt weapon, he began slamming the sheathed sword at them, parrying and sending it crashing down on the officers and soldiers.

Outnumbered and surrounded, he was stabbed and cut from multiple sides, anger and a focus to fight though fueled him to fight on. His moves became faster as the soldiers were quickly taken out, a few more began running towards Venator.

The officers and attacking soldiers all lay in the ground, incapacitated from the continuous strikes.

"Alright, now for the lines."

He unsheathed his blade, now aiming for the soldiers pushing his ally back.

He quickly began attacking a section, swinging his sword around while more soldiers fell, until a gap has been opened. More soldiers took notice, immediately they attacked Venator.

Venator held his own, trying to parry while swords flew by. Through the gap soldiers began pouring in, attacking the other sections.

The lines broke down, soldiers now started running as Bellunamien fighters pushed through. With more getting in, Venator ran back to the officers, quickly hoisting them up and moving them somewhere before the soldiers reached them.

He threw the last officer in a tent, standing outside of it while warriors ran amuck in the camp, killing the remaining soldiers quickly.

The loud roars and slamming of metal slowly ceased, leaving a silence in its place.

The battle was quickly over, Venator looked at his wounds, starting to heal as soldiers wandered around chattering and carrying cargo.

The wagons were taken over by a few soldiers, holding onto the ropes while the horses rested. They were all still filled with crates of provisions.

"Excellent work Venator, I see that you have taken the officers and provided support to our soldiers." The General patted Venator on the back while he healed, walking past him to one of the officers.

"We'll begin using this camp for our own use, it may provide a good observation and local supply hub for reinforcements as well as supplies." The General explained, finishing tying up the remaining officers.

The tent was small and partially empty with only a box and mats to sleep.

He began removing their helmets, soldiers joined in to bring them outside.

Venator relinquished his weapons to the General, with it he chained Venator again.

The two walked out, seeing the soldiers start putting the cargo onto wagons to leave. They walked inside a tent larger than the rest. Inside were armor stands, boxes, swords, and a large wooden table carrying a map on it held down by a lantern.

The General looked at the map, grabbing other scrolls of paper sitting next to it.

"This map looks quite detailed, they must have spent a long time scouting our kingdom." He pondered.

As he read, his escorts, followed by a few soldiers bringing the officers entered inside, they formed a line behind Venator, waiting for another order.

"Begin removing the dead bodies and await for the wagons to arrive, reinforcements are scheduled to arrive around this time of the day. Once the wagons arrive i want you to bring those ones outside alongside them back to the kingdom." The General explained.

The escorts exited out while the soldiers stayed, still holding onto the tied officers.

"As for the officers, you will join with the wagon and hastily return back to the city to imprison." He continued. After the order was given, they walked out.

"As for you Venator, it's best that you stay here and not with the soldiers." The General stepped back from the table, thinking to himself.

"For now just rest here Venator." After speaking, he left the tent, Venator stayed inside silent.

He looked down towards the map. It was a detailed layout with the capital in the center, small towns encircled in a black paste were strewn all around.

As he looked around, the sound of jubilation filled his ears. Looking outside, soldiers were hauling cargo to entering wagons, bringing wood, stone, along with the imprisoned officers. A few soldiers mounted the enemy wagons, preparing to head back home.

The camp was more packed than before, filled wagons headed back out. The new soldiers had thinner sheets of metal armor, less decorated and less impressive compared to the main army, carrying common longswords, bearing a stark difference between the two groups of soldiers.

They sat down, starting to rest or eating inside the tents. The sun was now rising higher than before, providing bright light to the entire land.

Venator sat on the table, staring outside at the relaxing soldiers, thinking of his time before becoming a mage.
