Premonition

The guard warned as he gestured to the soldiers behind him who were ready to escort us up the stairs leading to the upper levels of the castle.

As we climbed higher into the castle, I realized that I could now see a little bit of the view that I was currently enjoying. From the windows that lined the walls, I saw that the sun was beginning to rise over the ocean far off into the distance.

It took almost five hours to reach the top floor of the castle. My legs burned from the long climb and sweat trickled down my forehead as I kept pushing myself further and further up the stairs.

Eventually, we reached the top floor. The floor was also lit up brightly, unlike the dim torches downstairs that gave off a cold white light. There were three hallways, all leading to a circular room, with large double doors positioned to the right side of the room.
