139 Town Centre Upgrades

Dom headed inside the newly upgraded Town Centre, excited to see what the changes would be. As the doors opened, he was impressed to see that the hall had grown much larger, with the four long tables now being made in a much higher quality wood. The chairs and the head table were also upgraded, with the head table now easily able to seat up to nine people. The room now had three lots of double doors, one on the left, one on the right and one at the rear.

Along the wall were large draped flags, depicting the arms of Riverside, the Sabre Tooth Tiger. The flags were of a multitude of colours and made the room much brighter compared to the old Hall. The room was also well lit from candles and windows, which reflected light of the white bricks that the Town Centre was build from.

Dom couldn't see the staircase that would take him upstairs to the upper floors but knew that it must be behind one of the doors. He headed down the central isle and decided he would inspect each of the double doors before heading upstairs to see what the upgrades to the Town Centre had been. The first door he selected was the one on the left, that usually headed towards the map room and saw that it was there as usual, the room was larger than previous but the map blocks were still the same. Dom couldn't wait for the day the room was full of Map Tiles as the borders of Riverside expanded and all of the surrounding lands had officially become part of his Riverside.

He headed back out to the Great Hall and headed to the doors at the back, which used to be a partition wall to the kitchen area. Once he opened it he saw that there was a small corridor which had three doors and a central staircase. A large double door on the left, with two single doors on the right and the far right. Dom headed towards the one on the left and pushed it open, revealing an upgraded kitchen to the previous one, with a large central preparation area and a door at the back that led to a large storage room. Dom headed back out in to the corridor and peaked inside the other two rooms, which were both medium sized bedrooms which held four beds in each, with some dressers and a large wardrobe at the back. Dom assumed that these were the Servants Quarters and realised that those that often tidied and cooked in the Town Centre could use these as a bedroom.

Dom would head up the stairs after, but first he headed back out in to the Great Hall and headed towards the door on the right, which usually led to the Offices. He was happy to see much hadn't changed, except the corridor was much wider and the quality of the doors that he could see had improved, with much better engravings and thicker wood. Dom opened the door on his closest right, which was the Architecture Office and peaked inside.

Inside Sostratus was sat at his desk, drawing some designs. The room had grown in size, as had the table. There were also additional chairs and Sostratus seemed to be unaware of the changes as his mind was deep in his task.

"What are you drawing?" Dom asked Sostratus, who looked up as if caught off guard by Dom's entrance.

"Good Afternoon Lord!" Sostratus replied, putting his drawing tools down. "I am just working on some upgrades to the Watch Towers. After the arrival of the Inner Wall and having conversations with the Forbidden Guards that have arrived, I have some good ideas on how we can improve them and create some Defensive Towers within our lands as well as the Watch Towers on the periphery."

"Oh, that sounds interesting." Dom accepted, nodding his head as Sostratus continued to delve in to some of the other designs he had been working on. Dom was excited to see what Schematics his Architect could draw up in the next few weeks.

Dom soon left the Architecture Room and saw that there were two additional doors at the rear of the floor. He knew that there would be two more offices to role based on the Town Centre upgrades, but he had assumed they would be on the second floor with the other offices. He headed down to the empty doors and decided to roll them.

Suddenly above the door, the appearance of a pile of books appeared. The door also made the noise of being unlocked, and Dom went to grab towards the handle.

Dom peaked inside and saw that their was piles of parchment on one side of the room, a large wooden desk in the centre with a chair behind and two in front. There was also a large selection of cupboards and cabinets, which Dom assumed was for storing all of the administrative paperwork.

"An office for Xun Yu!" Dom stated, feeling that his latest Hero was the perfect candidate for this task for the time being. Dom then turned to the empty door behind him and rolled again.

Above the door, the image of a large shield appeared. Dom heard some banging from within the room and slowly pushed the door open.

Office Assignee - Military Hero]

Dom looked inside and saw that the room was the longest of the offices he had seen so far, seemingly pushing back slightly further. There was a large desk at the rear with a couple of chairs surrounding it. There was also a similar map to some of the other rooms, which outlined the centre of Riverside. Dom also saw that there was a couple of beds at the sides of the room, which Dom assumed could be a place for some guards to sleep within the Town Centre in the evening.

"A room for Xun Yan for now then." Dom stated, happy that he could ask his new hero to sleep here for the evening whilst other buildings were still being built.

Dom headed out of the offices, and back through the rear double doors. He headed upstairs to see what changes had taken place to the living quarters. The first thing that Dom saw as he reached the top of the stairs was that the whole floor had seemed to have grown. There was more seating and locations for artwork. There was also a couple more doors, which Dom assumed would be additional bedrooms, which was something he did need right now. He knew that the Town Centre upgrading would have some big impact, but he was happy to see that the homeliness of upper floors hadn't been impacted to much.

At the rear of the second floor was a new pair of doors, which Dom headed to and pushed open, revealing a small balcony which overlooked the west of Riverside, with a nice view of the mountains to the rear, but also allowing Dom to look to the north and the south. There were a couple of seats on the Balcony and Dom knew that he could happily enjoy a peaceful night sat out here, he felt it was a shame that his friends hadn't arrived yet to share the view with him.

He headed back inside and up the stairs to the top floor where his bedroom was. Not much had changed here except for the material of the walls changing and it all being slightly bigger. He looked at his bed and knew that it could comfortably fit a large amount of people on it. Dom had no intention of filling the bed with a large amount of people, but he knew that if Andrew saw it, he would definitely have different ideas.

Dom lay down on his bed whilst he planned out his next steps in Riverside. He had some more quest rewards to collect from his Personal Chest, he then needed to join the Heroes for a drink in the Tavern. Then he would have to log out in the next couple of hours and spend some time with Andrew and Kai, before logging back in. He needed to make a decision on what he would do, would he go to Central or would he join the strange Isle of Brittany's 100 Sword Peak that had approached him. Horatio had advised him to join a sect, and this option did allow him to also go to Central with his friends as planned. Part of him wished he could just continue playing World Conquest Online as it had slowly started to become his main priority that he was aiming to do, rather than his real life.

Once he returned to Riverside he would have to plan for the first of the two Auctions, the Lords and Leaders Auction, which he suspected would be the better of the two Auctions for what he actually needed in Riverside. He would also have the launch of the Galatea, the first trireme of Riverside which would allow them to have some form of defence in the water, and allow them to explore both up the river to the west, whilst also exploring the sea to the east. Crassus would also be back soon, hopefully with a large influx of new members and warriors, and he needed to prepare for war, either with Tongpai Town or against Tongpai Town.
