5 Heir

Three years passed, the small boy now stands a head and a half taller.

Over these years, Arcturus was the opposite of complacent. During the first year, he detached himself from his brothers, Regulus went from a caring boy to an emotionless puppet and Sirius rarely came home.

He spent the time he now had available learning from various tutors his mother got for him upon his request.

He was now learning Potions, History, Herbology, Mathematics, Business, Politics, and Care for Magical Creatures.

To be honest, he was loving every second of it, He couldn't pick a favorite subject if he wanted to and his parents were pleased to see his love for learning.

In the second year, Sirius ran away from home and was disowned by the family, Regulus always keeps his left forearm covered, and he finally met one of his sisters.

Narcissa Malfoy nee Black, despite being a horrible mother by always spoiling her son in the future, right now she was a rather beautiful woman with kind eyes.

They talked a lot and went on several trips into Diagon Alley together.

During this second year, he upped his physical training and continued expanding his control over magic.

He still attended Wizengamot meetings, birthday parties, and celebrated traditions with various other pureblood families.

Now halfway through the third year, as winter begins to fall, a seven-year-old Arcturus sits in his father's study after being summoned.

Before he can say anything, he is stopped by the words of his father, Orion raises his wand, "I, Orion Black, Lord of House Black, hereby name my son Arcturus Black, the heir and future head of House Black and everything that goes with it", His wand shines brightly for a few seconds.

A few minutes pass before the boy regains his composure, "Thank you father, I won't let you down... but what about Regulus"

The older man just sighs, "Regulus was chosen by Lord Voldemort to join his Death Eaters, there's been a war going on for a while in the shadows, but now it seems to be out in the open and everyone knows about it."

"Sirius has chosen to side with Dumbledore while Regulus, Bellatrix, and, by marriage to the Malfoys, Narcissa have chosen to side with Lord Voldemort... i believe in the dark lord's goals but i won't sacrifice my entire house for another man's war"

"Normally we follow traditions in this household, and you wouldn't get your wand until your eleven but desperate times call for desperate measures, I have contacted a wandmaker from the magical black market that has a good reputation on making top of the line wands"

"He will be arriving later today and after a short test, he will make a wand that will do until it's time to visit Ollivander's in three and a half years"

"You will start learning Charms, Transfiguration, D.A.D.A, and Apparition. I expect you to learn Apparition before you head off to Hogwarts"

"Lastly, before you go, I want you to visit Gringotts for an inherency test. all children at the age of seven do this to see if they've inherited any extinct or forgotten houses"

After finishing his meeting with his father and completing the mysterious wandmaker's test, he now strides through the front doors of Gringotts.

Walking up to the large counter, he looks up to the goblin, "Hello, I'm here for my inherency test"

The goblin looks down from his tall desk, "Name?"

Arcturus raises his right hand showing his heir ring causing the goblin's eyebrows to rise sharply.

"Heir Black, please follow me"

After a short walk, they sit an a sparsely decorated office, "Please use this needle to prick your finger and put three droplets of blood onto the paper"

Arcturus just nods and does as the small monster says.

After about thirty seconds, the blood moves and turns into three names, Black, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff.

The silence in the room was palpable, from the goblin's perspective, he was now sitting in front of the richest and most politically powerful person in Britain.

To say Arcturus was surprised would be an understatement, he expected Slytherin or Peverell but Hufflepuff... he couldn't even get his head around it.

'Ravenclaw is awesome, Rowena was known as the smartest of the founders, her vault should contain tons of ancient knowledge and spells but Hufflepuff, it's going to be hard keeping a straight face in front of father when i tell him'

Looking up to the Goblin that's waiting patiently, he finally opens his mouth, "Will my parents have control over these additional vaults and houses? also, i know heir rings have special properties and abilities, what does the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff rings do?"

The goblin takes a deep breath before speaking, "I'll answer your second question first, the Ravenclaw ring will grant you the ability of speed reading, like flipping through a book super fast and memorizing every single word"

"The Hufflepuff ring grants you the ability of semi-self sustenance, you will now only need to sleep once every two weeks for four hours"

"Now, onto your first question, your parents have zero power over the lordship of Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff"

Arcturus interrupts, "I would like to keep the knowledge of my new lordship of these houses a secret until I'm fifteen and i can properly become the lord of them"

The goblin's eyes spark with greed, "That is no problem for a small fee of five hundred galleons"

The boy sits back, "Take two thousand from my personal vault, consider it a thank you gift for your understanding"

After saying goodbye to the small goblin, he makes his way out of Gringotts only to be greeted by Narcissa and a young Lucius Malfoy.

"Sister, Brother-in-law, a pleasure to see you both"
