64 Test

The dean of Sun Moon academy, Anping developed a unique understanding of him upon choosing to join the institution. His name was Ling Hongchen, a descendant of the Hongchen family from thousands of years ago.

Upon entering the office, Ling Hongchen arranged seats for everyone, provided each with a cup of tea, took his place opposite the trio, and spoke with a smile, "I didn't expect Her Majesty Heavenly Phoenix to come in person. It seems that these two apprentices are truly significant to us."

Ling Hongchen was genuinely surprised. While Anping and Gu Yuena were under his tutelage, bringing them in person for a minor matter seemed unnecessary; it could easily have been delegated.

Leng Yaozhu, glancing at Anping and Gu Yuena, responded calmly, "They are still young, and I feel it's necessary to bring them here personally for reassurance."

As the dean of Sun Moon academy, Ling Hongchen possessed a vigorous and resolute demeanor. After brief pleasantries with Leng YaoZhu, he cut to the chase.

Acknowledging Leng Yaozhu's request, Ling Hongchen turned his attention to Anping, stating, "As Heavenly Phoenix Douluo's disciple, I don't doubt your talent, but since you are entering the soul guidance system, you will need to undergo the required tests."

While having no objections to testing Anping, Ling Hongchen expressed confidence. He nodded, saying, "Testing is acceptable, Dean Hongchen. I wonder if the conditions we set before can still be honored?"

"Freedom of study, correct? Considering Heavenly Phoenix Douluo's influence, it's certainly acceptable. But let me be clear, you still need to take the final exam each semester. Failure would mean following the academy's arrangements."

With both Anping and Gu Yuena agreeing to these terms, Ling Hongchen addressed Gu Yuena, "As for you, having chosen the martial soul system and reaching the third ring at your age, you can bypass the test. I will introduce you to your future teacher after the test."

Confirming everyone's agreement, Ling Hongchen stood and said, "Please follow me. First, we'll conduct a physical test."

Although the Spirit Pagoda provided comprehensive data on physical fitness and mental strength, Hongchen preferred firsthand observations due to the unconventional nature of the information.

After the test, Ling Hongchen examined the impressive data on the form and nodded repeatedly. He couldn't say he was merely satisfied; he was genuinely impressed. He even pondered whether Shrek's Yun Ming boasted such lavish statistics at a similar age.

Leading the group to his exclusive laboratory, Ling Hongchen showcased a massive test bench at the center of the spacious room. An array of well-equipped tools and various materials, ranging from common to rare, adorned the shelves.

With a smile, Ling Hongchen addressed Anping, "The final test involves crafting a third-level soul guide. You are free to use any materials here. Succeed in making the soul guide, and I will consider it a pass."

Anping nodded, his gaze sweeping over the shelves as he analyzed the properties of different materials and contemplated his selection.

After careful consideration, Anping opted to craft a soul cannon. Retrieving materials from the storage shelves, he arranged them on the experimental table, commencing the production process.

There was no super conventional method; Anping simply mobilized the fire element in the air to melt the magic iron. Using his mental power, he shaped the melted magic iron into the desired parts.

Observing Anping's skillful operation, Ling Hongchen, with his academic qualifications, discerned Anping's intentions and nodded in approval.

Upon finalizing and cooling each component, Anping picked up the engraving knife and began carving runes. He opted for regular soul guidance runes rather than the alchemical magic patterns he excelled in, demonstrating a deeper understanding of Douluo Continent's runes.

About a quarter of an hour later, Anping finished engraving the runes. The final encapsulation was simple, and all the processes proceeded smoothly, pleasing to the eye.

Turning to Ling Hongchen, Anping stated, "Dean Hongchen, I'm done. A level 4 soul cannon. Although its power hasn't been tested, it should reach level 5."

Ling Hongchen nodded, expressing satisfaction. He then inquired, "May I ask who taught you these soul-guiding acupuncture techniques?"

Anping, confident in the rune formations derived from the alchemical magic pattern array, responded, "I deduced it based on the most basic runes. Are there any issues with these rune formations?"

"No issues at all. If I read it correctly, it is even more powerful and consumes less soul power than conventional rune formations. Can you share your thoughts?" Ling Hongchen showed some fanaticism in his gaze.

Anping explained, "The idea is to find ways to achieve your goals using less energy."

As he spoke, Anping introduced his design thoughts on each component of the soul cannon, discussing where the inspiration originated. Occasionally, Ling Hongchen offered his opinions, suggesting improvements or alterations to certain runes.

Engrossed in their discussion, the two seemed oblivious to Leng Yaozhu and Gu Yuena, who were left aside. Finally, Leng Yaozhu interrupted, "Dean Hongchen, if the test is passed, is it time to proceed with the admission process?"

Interrupted, Ling Hongchen suddenly recalled the purpose of the test. Apologizing for his enthusiasm, he said, "Your Majesty Heavenly Phoenix, my apologies. You know, it's my passion, and I tend to get carried away. I'm highly satisfied with my apprentice, and I've decided to personally teach him about soul guidance devices. Let's head to the entrance test immediately."

After a prolonged session, it was already noon when the trio exited Ling Hongchen's laboratory. Seeking input from several individuals, Ling Hongchen personally escorted them to Sun Moon academy's cafeteria for a meal.

Throughout the lunch, discussions revolved around soul guidance runes. Anping's soul guidance tools from EastSea City were considered basic compared to Sun Moon Academy's offerings. While it was ostensibly a discussion, Ling Hongchen mostly dominated the conversation, with Anping occasionally sharing his insights.

The cafeteria had a few students present, and during mealtime, curious glances were directed at their table. The spectacle of the dean personally engaging with the newcomers sparked interest among onlookers.
