CHAPTER 17 : CAR KEYS

" There's more than two . " Ava spoke as she looked at how the number of missing cases spiked so fast .

" Five officers , just here . " Spoke one of her colleagues as they pointed at the map infront of them , pin pointing the locations the officers and the citizens were seen last .

Just yesterday night , it was a total of five man missing cases that were filed , and all of them in the same day , with some amount of contact with werewolves .

" There are no video cams showing how exactly they all went missing . " Spoke another as he stared at everyone in the room .

He was not one of her colleagues , but he is an officer who works at Delta Force's branch here at Lydan .

" Any notes or special points , that we should keep in mind ? " Asked Ava as she looked at the officer , whose name tag read , Thomas .

" Nothing , yet . " He replied .

" Isn't this a bit similar to the one Anika's handling with ? " Asked an officer as now all the attention latched itself onto Ava .

" It is , but we can't be sure unless we have more leads . " Ava spoke as she stared at the officers.

The man stood in the room , his eyes fixed on the newspaper , in his hands .

" You can't just lie around the whole day Byron . " He spoke , not looking at his friend who alse happened to be his colleague .

Byron only hummed as a response.

" I think I deserve my rest . "

He spoke yawning as he stretched his hands , only to lie on the couch again , eyes closed until he heard the footsteps of another , standing up immediately on guard .

Slowly folding the newspaper , the man stood and turned around . He knew who was coming.

" You are back . How did it go ? " The man asked as he saw one of his friends walking towards him .

" Got almost caught , just as we wanted. They are hooked . " The friend replied his gruff voice cutting the air.

" Good ! " The man spoke joyous as he patted his short friend's shoulder .

" Did you get anything useful , while you were at it ? " Byron , spoke as he fell on to the sofa , lazily .

" A car key ? " He spoke as he kept the key on a nearby table .

" Consider yourself lucky . " Spoke senior officer Judy as she bored holes through Tayden's skull .

She didn't like him , but again she couldn't say much , she was the one who had put out a sanction that allowed him to be part of the group.

Tayden rubbed his wrists as he looked at the marks that were caused by the hand cuffs that were used to secure his hands .

" Sure . " He spoke , not sparing a glance .

" Where is James ? " He asked , immediately remembering his friend , who had been the reason as to why he is free now .

" He will arrive in a short time . " Spoke the officer , her voice ice cold .

" What about Anika ? " He asked remembering his furious interrogator friend .

" She's busy providing information with James to the higher officers , to make sure that you won't get killed in the future . "

" Sounds good . " The man , spoke moving the hair that covered one of his eyes .

" May I take a seat ? " He asked , as he felt the pain slowly creeping up his legs . He had been standing for almost two hours .

" No . " She spoke as she walked away , two other officers stood in the room , observing each of his moves.

Tayden whisper - asked to the officers after officer Judy left .

" Can I sit ? "

There was no response , just four eyes which looked straight at him .

" I hate this . "
