Chapter 2: Servant summoning

It was 18 years ago when I was born in the world like this. A world that was built on the premise of summoning beings of ages past which contain great power. It was a long time since I remember watching this world, the series of unlimited blade works, as I was busy and could never remember to rewatch it. Few deatils remained in my mind but I remembered the premise enough. In this world, I was born into a japanese mage family, name Iguro Kanome. We were a 10 generation mage family that began with my ancestor Hanako Kanome, a japanese priestess.

My father, Kazuki, was from the Kanome line and he practiced japanese onmyodo and my mother, Yohana Yotsuba, was a practitioner of Alchemy and bounded fields. Of course as their heir I inherited their crests as each were the heirs of their respective family. Of course, I modified it with Absolute Command by using a wish. This allowed me to remove the cost and multiply the power by 100 times. If I did not do this, then I don't deserve Absolute command. My parents also took notice of this change as the fundamental structure of the crest changed to much for them to ignore. There is also the fact that my own magic circuits underwent a change that they have observed during training.

"Okay son, what the hell is going on?!" asked my father when he and my mother cornered me at dinner. I wanted to use absolute command immediately but I hesitated as they were my parents in this life. So I told them I have a special ability that allows this change. My parents were shocked and asked for a demonstration. I did so by changing the fundamental structure of their circuits, enchancing them in number and power. Of course, I prevented it from being noticed by others. My parents were silent for a few minutes until thet erupted in tones that made me swear to never get them this excited, even if it is about me being a son that can carry on the family name and make it stronger.

Of course with the years passing by I felt the war drawing nearer, and using my abilities I was able to make the grail choose me as a master. I gazed at the mark upon my hand, crimson in color and a feat of magecraft that on par with the phenomenon of magic. It was in the shape of three triangles forming the shape of the triforce. Of course, my own ability was far more powerful than this flimsy mark, but it was given to me to mark me a master in the eyes of the grail. I of course must summon my servant tomorrow. After school at Homurahara Gakuen.

In order to be well prepared I begin constructing the circle in the family basement. The basement was large, about the size of the living room. It had a desk with ink and a brush to draw characters on talismans. There was also a shelf full of books containing text on related family crafts. While there was these occupying the room plus a bit more, there was enough room to draw the circle. To summon a servant, one must draw a formula that was designed for the purpose. Of course I don't need it, but why not due it for the fun of it. I of coursed modified it to fit my purpose. I draw it using red cinnibar ink, to which I make sure dries and stays upon the ground without being messed up. I then would need something connected to summon the servant I want, but Rin Tohsaka did not use a catalyst. But she did at what was supposed to be two a'clock in the morning, but she got a randomised servant. I should make him make me food, now I want omurice.

After finishing the preperations I went to bed, dreaming great dreams, especially omurice and curry. I slept while dreaming of curry until my alarm clock rang at 5:30 a'clock and I rose from my bed all rested, and I showered and quickly dressed in my uniform for Homurahara. I quickly reheated some rice and meat from yesterday and brewed a cup of tea. "Ahh that is nice" I said to myself as I finished my meal and headed towards Homurhara Gakuen. It took me 20 mintues to get their. On my way I saw many students and I even saw Rin Tohsaka who looked a bit tired. "Hello Rin" I said to her as he turned her head towards me. She was dressed in her Homurahara uniform which consisted of a long brown skirt, a brown vest, a white button up drss shirt a bow-tie or something similar.

"Hello Iguro, how was your morning?" she asked me as she walked towards the nearest vending machine she could find to get coffee. "Well my morning was good, how are you faring this fine day?" I asked her. "Well I will fare better when I get coffee" muttered Rin as she found what she was looking for. She paid about 50 yen for a can and downed it like shots of tequila, don't drink it, it will hurt you. "Well we all could use coffee, but why are tired?" I asked her. "Well my clocks are set later for some reason" said Rin getting another coffee. "Well did you do any magecraft to mess it up?" I asked her as he looked away. "I might have" she said with a reddish hue on her face. "Well thats okay, you just need to be careful" I said to her, rubbing her head of black hair.

"Stop, what are you doing!" she said acting embarassed by this act, even though I knew deep down that she never disliked it. Me and Rin go way back, back to when she was five and I was six. My father and mother took me to the Tohsaka manor because they were showing me off to the Toshaka head at the time, Tokiomi Tohsaka. My family was a vassal house to the Tohsaka and in return for serving them, they lent us supplies and we helped back them in many situations. During the visit, I was able to meet Rin and her sister Sakura and we became friends. We loved to play together as our houses were only 4 blocks apart and we lived in peaceful joy. When Sakura was taken a temporary rift formed between us as we grieved. But I calmed myself down and comforted Rin. When the war started she moved away, but she came back and it felt like nothing changed.

I took my hand away and noticed a change in her face. I followed her gaze and it fell on my mark. While I made it fade to look like and injury, Rin seemingly picked up what the mark represented. "So you were chosen?" she asked, her voice quivering with something akin to dread. "Yep" I told her, not hiding behind false lies or walls of half truth. "Well I guess we will be enemies huh" she said to me. I knew this would come, even though us becoming friends was not expected by me, I would have to fight her as she is one of the three founding families of the Fuyuki Grail War. This means she is guaranteed a spot, along with others from the Einzbern and Makiri mage families. "Don't worry my Rin-dere, I will make sure we both can win" I told her. She smiled at me, but her smile indicated something akin to hollow hope, as if she thought I said that to cheer her up.

"Well come on, class will start" I told her and we both bolted up so we don't get scolded by our teachers.

<After school>

*Ring*

A sound many students loved to hear after a long day at Homurahara Gakuen, the final bell dismissing them home. Many could not wait to get home, me included. Some wanted to go home so they could take off their uniforms and play video games like Ocarina of time, some visual eroge novels, or watch some tv. I saw Rin at the gate, and I quickly went up to her. "Hello Rin" I said to her. Her head perked up in happiness, as if our morning conversation never happened. "Hello Iguro, you want to walk me home?" she asked teasingly. "Of course, I can't let a lady like yourself go home by yourself" I told her as we began walking. The walk was abit longer than getting to my house, about 35 to 40 minutes of walking. When we reached her doors, I said bye and headed home after wishing her good luck.

I got back to my house, a letter was waiting for me on the table.

"Dear, Iguro, me and your father have been called by the mages association to help with a sealing designation and some excorsisms. While they generally frown upon us orientals, they know we have techniques more suitable for killing evil spirits. We love you and sorry for leaving unannounced as we had to leave before you get out of school. There is enough food and I am sure you won't have problems procuring more after a day or two. You might even be able to stay at Rin's. Love, Mrs.and Mr.Kanome".

"Well, I guess this is fortunate for me though" I muttered to myself as now that they left, I can focus fully on the war instead of worrying about their safety. I quickly headed down to the basement, towards my magic circle. The ink of the circle was set and I began laying down talismans until it covered the outside of the circle. I then began channeling mana into the formation, with my talismans acting as my keys to the throne of heroes. I know caster was already summoned, I think as I cannot be sure, so that class is out. I don't know if she summoned assassin yet, so I should be able to summon one. As my magical energy began to flood the circle I called out a name "Sasaki Kojirou". After I uttered that name, a blinding light flooded the room and a figure stood in the middle of the circle. "Oh, an onmyoji? Well that makes this interesting. I ask you, are you my master?" asked Sasaki.
