68 Did He Seem Okay?

Bryce didn't have Tessa's phone so he wasn't able to get a hold of any of her school friends to let them know what happened, though he did call the office so she would get taken off their student register. So the only people present at the funeral other than himself and the funeral director were her three coworkers, Ken O'Brien, and a handful of people he didn't recognize that must be her relatives. 

His eyes were horribly swollen but he did his best to thank everyone for coming. Josh and Del had clearly been crying too. She even hugged him and thanked him for making Tessa so happy while she was still here. 

Ken O'Brien approached him looking as blank-faced as he had the one time they met though there was the slightest hint of sorrow and pity in his features. "Are you doing alright, Bryce?"

Bryce shook his head. Of course he wasn't. "No but thank you for asking anyway. Are these relatives of yours?"
