Sun Rays

The sun just sneaked over the horizon when Rueben touched down in the daffodils fields. It was silent, unnatural, tiny lights floated through the tree in the morning darkness. They were looking for the witch and if she can help it, they will never find her. Rueben crouched down, running her fingers through the grass, feeling the auras, but a veil blocked another realm.

Rueben stepped back and shook her head. It was a trap. "Crystal, can you see past it?" the witch asked the ball and bowed her head.

They blinked rapidly against her neck. "There is some sort of veil as if they snatched him into another dimension, I can't reach through it" Rueben nodded and bit down on her lip.

The witch took in a deep breath, centring herself amid the woods and the dimensions that breathe alongside it. She letting out the breath and channeling the energy into the environment.

"Pull back the veil to relieve the truth, undo the cloak that blinds us from what's true" a loud gasp through the woods and a whoop of glitter waved through it. But it only relieved the happenings of the woods. The spot they stood was bare of any kind of reminisces.

Rueben shook her head while walking about the field. "Well, he is getting smarter," she ignored Crystal's words as she stared off into the woods. "well we did our best. Let's get out of here" sudden feeling moved within like a thunderstorm in Rueben's stomach. She raised her hand and blocked Crystal out, knowing they didn't like to be silenced.

Rueben's eyes fell closed while Crystal swung around her neck, trying to get her attention. Rueben opened her glowing eyes. "break the veil" the command landed on the veil and it tore to pieces.

The world that stood before the witch was abuzz with sounds, distant music and echoes. It was like the natural world but filled with essences flowing from each creature or living thing into the sky while stones and grounds gave off energies. Spirits walked on the misty horizon while others duck behind trees. Animals were bright, glowing creatures moving about the field.

Rueben looked to the sky to find the sun burning like a yellow eye with orange and red rays, wiggling like snakes around it. The witch stepped forward, holding up her hand. In the breath of a decree, she grabbed the sun rays which wrapped around her wrist and pulled it back before pulling it forward. Rueben watched as the sky turned into time-lapse, going through the night before.

Rueben moved out of the way as the essence of herself hiked towards the witch, pulling the blossoming corpse of Awiaanomaa behind her. Essence was the color of night and day all swirled up together. The witch shook her head and grabbed the ray again, began walking with it while the scene moved forward around her. Until Raine essences stood in front of hers, sparkles flowed from a blueish aura. Reuben moved to touch him, but she stopped herself. She watched her essences leave with the Prince standing in the field, when out of the corner of Rueben saw a person.

She approached the individual with an enormous hat full of crosses, their aura shining with black and gold.

"Excuse me," Raine's voice echoed in this world, "Can I help you?" his voice grew concerned, which made Rueben turn to see a massive white rabbit essence with red ribbons swirling in the white. It grabbed Raine and placed a cloth in his mouth.

Rueben ran toward the two. But Raine fell into a lump before they threw him into another dimension. "No!" she yelled, falling to her knees in the spot where Raine had stood.

She kneeled in yellow flowers. Cursing herself for what happened to Raine, as she sat there, the world began to time-lapse slowly for the present. All the emotion filter through her body, dark feeling began to pull through.

Rueben tried to push them away, but it only made them stronger and the flash of that dusty room came back, along with rust and a dirty sink. But beneath her, an aura glowed that caught her eye. It was purple liquid but glowing. She reached for it but she pushed out of the dimension and found herself laying on her back.

….

A rumbling of Raye's mind shook him awake. He opened his eyes to morning sky instead of a dusty huts ceiling. He sat up in a dark forest with trees circling him in a long bowl and no witch sight. His heart sunk at the thought of not seeing her. Raye stood ready to leave, but a bag fell to the ground. When he attempted to pick it up, he saw his arms were decorated with some type of symbols. He couldn't read. He tried to rub it off his skin, but it seemed to be imprinted onto him like a tattoo. Raye shook his head and the thought before standing to his feet. He open the bag to search it and a gush of her scent flowed out. Raye began to find different foods, herbs, potions, along with bandages and a certain green paste with had an ointment smell that almost overpowered the witch's scent.

Raye couldn't believe she left all this for him, even after the argument, or rather Ralf, forcing himself onto her. He had to find her. He set off at lightning speed towards the hut. The werewolf followed the scent that lingered on the wind and sure enough; he saw the hut raising on the horizon but it seem empty, like the very life in it had faded. Stepping into the barren hut felt like a tomb, not the cosy dream it once was.

-where is she?- Ralf was anxious and so was Raye. So he sniffed the air but couldn't find her scent anymore. It was like a memory that stood at the jamb of the door.

Raye stares into woods "I don't know" he moved to the bed where he first caught it. But the sheets were stripped, leaving a bare mattress and pillow. He turned to the plants that used to hang from the ceiling, but they all dried up, along with vines that crept amongst the brick wall.

-she could be in trouble, we have to find her, NOW!! - Ralf was getting impatient and honestly, so was he. Raye needed to know if she was ok but looking at the evidence. She probably was, since she had the time to dump the werewolves in the far end of the woods on a makeshift gurney.

"I doubt it. She ran because of your forceful nature" Raye was furious at his wolf even though his actions were just a reflection of Raye's own unbridled passion and want for the woman.

-if I hadn't stepped in, she wouldn't have been arguing with us. The nerve of you raising your voice at her- Ralf growled back as Raye paced about the room, trying to ignore his arrogance.

"She had no right to speak to us like that, to a man like me, to an alpha" moved out of the hut as Ralf growled as a warning, but Raye was ready to fight.

Suddenly a yell came barreling through the woods into the hut where it bounced about and without even a warning or a word. Raye shifted into his wolf and ran towards it because all he knew was that a yelp came from his mate and no one would ever hurt her.
