“But I didn’t. I don’t know how to put a block on my mind.” Even as I said the words, I realised that wasn’t entirely true. Lecturer Tomas, the man who taught library studies at the Winterwood Academy, had taught me how to use Wind to keep someone from reading my thoughts. But I hadn’t been doing that just now.

“Perhaps it has something to do with your control over the elements,” Merrin mused. “Grandma Joan told me you used all four of the elements to help Mathew last night. She said it was a beautiful sight to behold.”

A thrill ran through me as I was once again reminded of what I had done.
