1 A bit before the Beginning.

The MC dies in an adventurous expedition to Mt. Everest when an ill-timed sneeze destabilizes the tracking guide. He tumbled over to the cave wall that somehow managed to drop a few icicles hanging from the ceiling on our dear old MC.

The icicles managed to penetrate him before he could penetrate some pu... *cough* Nothing to be ashamed of, most traditional families raise their chaps that way. But regardless of any of that, our boy was not from a traditional family, or any family for that matter if you could call the church one.

He was raised in the church, by priests with mentalities and worldviews as ancient as them, but it did him some good in terms of learning manners and proper etiquette along with inheriting a spark for the kitchen from the old matrons.

Growing up, he found a shine for the culinary arts and spent his time bettering himself and boy did his investment pay off. He would always manage to get himself in kitchen duty or find himself assisting the matrons in preparing charity meals, something that stuck with him.

Whatever money he received from cooking for the mass or weddings, he would use it to buy materials for charity meals that he would prepare himself. Many a man had asked him to open his own business, and even wanted to sponsor him after tasting his food, but he refused them all with a kind smile.

He was the type to be fine with a minimalistic lifestyle and despite becoming a chef of much renown, he never opened a restaurant or eatery.

When he came of age, he joined the cloth like the ones he admired and learned from since his childhood.

So, if you ask what a man like that was doing on the frosty peaks of the Everest, well it was worth a chuckle to remember the story. His renown as the "Chef Priest" garnered him much attention and even the higher-ups in the clergy were quite pleased with him and they praised him and his efforts.

The Cardinal who had come to visit the church with a promotion order, had taken a liking to the boy and asked him about his life, only to find it utterly bland and boring. Slapping him on the back the old man said, "you young ones should see the world while your blood is warm, before you turn into an old bag of bones like me here."

"I'll get you the vacation along with the other things like permits and whatnot, go and have fun before you join us old men in the Vatican." The older man finished with a grandfatherly smile.

The Cardinal gave him a promotion order that named him a Bishop, the youngest one in the last century, and an order positioning him right near the Pope himself in the Vatican. Well, things never go as planned and the world lost the Chef Priest to an icicle skewering him like a kebab.

................................

Okay, back to business. After dying in an unceremonious accident our MC found him sitting before an old man who was radiating a holy aura, the old man was in simple white robes with white hair crowning his head and a pair of ashen grey eyes that had a look like they were as august as time itself. His face held reminiscence to the handsome face he had in his younger years and his lips smiled in a warm manner as the sagely beard added to his mystic charm.

"Welcome to my table little human. Now, before you start asking questions, I can read your thoughts and your whole life is right here in this file, so I know all there is to know and forget about you." The old man said while pointing to a file on the table.

"So, like the popular anime and Light Novels, I am getting my butt YEET-ed to another world to live another life and possibly run errands for you. Did I miss anything?" the young soul asked.

"Just a few misconceptions here and there, the multiverse theory is correct and we what you refer to as Gods are simply stronger beings and for me, I am one who was created by the planar will to watch over this world and those that are borne of it. The same planar will chose you for its purpose and I guess that's about it." the older man said with a pondering countenance.

"So, Jesus was not your son?" the younger man asked in a voice that was desperately clutching to any straw available as his world view crumbled into dust before getting blown away by a gust of wind.

"No, he was a wizard and a revolutionary, he wanted to change the world into a better place and despite what others say, he did quite a remarkable job at that. Yes, your world had wizards, much like the Harry Potter you read and no, Hogwarts was not there in your world." The old man spoke as he simply answered the questions that appeared in our little MC's head.

"I don't really think that I am qualified to do something for the will of the very existence itself." the young soul spoke in a self-deprecating voice.

"Don't worry about any of that pup, there will be some rewards for you to let you grow stronger to deal with the more difficult quests. But for now, you will get a random power and an item of your choice that is reasonable enough." The old man said as a big roulette wheel appeared out of nowhere.

MC POV:

The wheel had names of many famous anime, novels, and manga and a lot of others that I did not recognize, I touched the wheel and it started spinning before slowing down near the 'ONE PIECE' block before passing the 'FAIRY TAIL' block by an inch and landing on 'Disney'.

I mean out of everything there was on that roulette, the pointer just had to land on Disney. Most of the characters are either nonhumans or women, don't get me wrong on this but I seriously don't want to turn into something other than a human or a woman per se.

I am quite attached to my race and gender to give it away in exchange for a power that could be anything else. Women are troublesome and being a woman would not be any better, so no matter what happens, I will rather be Donald the Duck than live without my junior.

A crisp slap hit my back and I saw the old man looking at me with an amused expression and he spoke in a comforting voice, "don't worry pup, you won't be turning into a woman or a nonhuman for that matter, the power will just integrate with you and form a suitable physique."

I rolled the wheel again and it landed on a box that had "Spirit of Ice" written over it. The cogs of my brain turned, well what is supposed to be my brain as a soul turned for that matter, and gave me a single word, "FROZEN".

"Brace yourself pup, forming a body suitable for the Spirit of Ice would be rather painful as you will feel it forming once your nerves get linked. But don't worry, the knowledge of the Spirit will force your brain to go into a sensory overload to relieve you of the pain." The old man spoke before I felt a chill creep down whatever soul-like parts I had.

And a plethora of information followed right behind, sending my body into a shock from the sensory overload, instantly sparing me from that torture that could give any masochist the biggest orgasm of their life while they beg for more.

Unfortunately, I was not one in that category, or it could be the fact that I just did not know. Well, none of that anymore, the body was formed and I came to my senses. Trying to sit up was a chore, everything was wobbly and blurry which slowly became clear and stable.

"A nice physique if I must say myself, now come on, we have an item to pick." The older man said and with a wave of his hands, I found myself dressed in a nice ice blue attire, kind of like the one Elsa wore.

"Can I choose the item instead of rolling that wheel?" I asked.

"You can, but most of the high-level things are off the list then, would you still choose to not spin the roulette?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.

"I am and I wish for the compass owned by Captian Jack Sparrow to be bound to my soul, is that possible?" I asked in anticipation.

"Sure, a brilliant choice, not for the end, but a means to reach the end, fair enough. But now you need a name, one befitting your title as the "Spirit of Winter." The old man chuckled.

"Since I have the God before me, I offer a prayer, please God, bless me with a name," I said as I knelt down and joined my hands in prayer.

"Very well, if it is to be like this, then I name you Aster Frost, the Frozen Star. Bear your name with pride and live up to the spirit you became, let the will of existence watch over you little one." He said with a warm grandfatherly voice as he placed his hand on my head and patted my head.

"Now, off you go. Your adventure awaits you little spirit, follow your heart if you ever feel lost." He said and I felt drowsy while a portal formed under me.

"Thank you, for everything." that was the last thing I could whisper before I was spirited away.
