There Is Nothing Between Us

Pang!

The door was slammed in front of Blake's face. He twisted the door knob thinking she was just closing the door but it was locked. "Ah come on! This is literally my room."

"Since when?!" Marissa shouted while taking her t-shirt from her closet.

"Since my picture was placed there!" He smiled recalling the picture that was in the frame.

Marissa turned right away looking at the frame on the dressing table. Putting on her jeans, she tried to reminisce about the day they took the picture. It was their high school graduation and at that time both of them were smiling ears to ears.

'Was it Idora?' She searched hard in her memories nine years ago because she forgot who took the picture.

'Ahh…Idora' She was once her best friend but she suddenly distanced herself after that day. When Marissa asked for a reason, Idora never gave one. Their friendship ended after the graduation with a question mark.

The silence at the front made Marissa wonder. She combed her long hair and rushed to the door. Opening the door slightly, she saw no one there. Immediately stepping out of the room, she saw the living room was empty. 'Where is he?'

Walking to the table, Marissa's eyes caught on the breakfast. It was still untouched and looked like Blake didn't eat them yet. "Blake…" She tried calling for her but it was left with no answer.

Headache that was still disturbing her, made Marissa close her eyes. Frowning, a flash memory of Blake coming to her side last night made her open her eyes.

"What are you doing?" Blake asked near her ear.

"Oh my God!" Marissa was so shocked she jumped slightly to the back. "Where are you coming from?!" A quick slap landed on Blake's shoulder.

Blake was surprised himself. He was sure he didn't hide or take a step in silence. "Err…kitchen?"

"Kitchen?" Her forehead was frowning. The house was not that big and the kitchen could be seen from the living room but she was sure he was not there earlier.

"I know what you are thinking but nope, I am exactly there finding plates and glass to set up the table." Perhaps Marissa couldn't see him because he was bending down and looking at the plates at the lower kitchen cabinet.

"We need to talk…" Marissa pulled his hand and took him to the sofa.

"No, let's eat first. I'm hungry." He said, refusing to sit.

"I can't eat until we clear this…" She released her hand from Blake's hand.

They looked at each other, probably trying to read each other's mind.

"Are you talking about last night?" Blake asked.

She nodded lightly, "Yes, I need to know everything. I…" She paused looking at her fingers. "I can't remember anything."

"Everything?" Asking once again, Blake wanted to confirm it.

Marissa raised her head, "Starting from the moment I…" She tried for the last time, searching for memories that she lost, "I think the last thing I remember is you coming to my side."

"That's all?" He blinked twice and continued, "Don't you remember telling me that you love me so much that you can't leave without me?"

"Ah…stop it Blake…" She responded right away. The typical Blake, trying to tease her. "Be serious please…" Actually, the thing she worried the most about was what had happened between them last night. Did they do it or not?

Blake smiled and leaned his body closer to her. He bent his body slightly to match their height. "Don't worry…" He pinched her cheek, "the thing on your mind…I wouldn't do that-"

"Why?" The question slipped out from Marissa's lips cutting Blake's words. Cursing in her mind, she bit her lips feeling stupid.

"Why?" His smile widened. "Are you expecting it?" He stepped forward.

"No!" She held him from coming closer by straightening both of her hands and holding onto his shoulders. "I mean…Micky said cats would not refuse a fish if it was served in front of them." She said those words but shifted her eyes elsewhere because she was ashamed of herself.

"Cat? Fish?" Blake was blurred. "Am I a cat?" His index finger was pointing at his nose. "And you a fish?"

"Ah, forget it." Marissa walked past him, trying to stop the topic.

"Wait…" Blake held her arm, "Am I at least a british shorthair? Meow…" He said them but he himself ended up bursting in laughter.

She was annoyed and brushed his hand from her arm before rushing to the table.

"Archer bought you hangover soup." He said pulling the chair and taking a seat.

"Archer?" She was confused. That was the first time she heard the name.

"Ah…" He closed his eyes shortly, realising, "My secretary…"

"You have a secretary?!" Her eyes opened big from the shock.

Nodded, he continued serving the food for Marissa.

"What else?" She asked in dissatisfaction.

"What else what?" He raised his brows asking for a clearer question.

"I mean what else that I didn't know about you?" She turned her chair facing him.

"What do you want to know?" He put a bowl of soup in front of Marissa.

Marissa was quiet for some moment, thinking about the question she wanted to know the most, "You and Tony, are you still with him?"

"Tony?" Blake turned to change the direction of his chair. He was now facing Marissa looking serious. Maybe this was the right time to clear the misunderstanding that was dragged on for ten years, "Last night, you didn't remember the secret that I told you?"

"I told you, there is nothing. I totally black out." She was sure there was nothing in her memories and totally regretted her decision to try that drink.

"Then, listen carefully to the thing that I am going to tell you. First, please…don't get mad." Blake held onto her hands.

"What is it? You are making me nervous." Her heart started to beat faster than usual.

"Tony and I…there is nothing between us." Blake told her the truth.

"What do you mean? Both of you are breaking up?" She looked at his face, "because of me?"

Blake closed his eyes and bit his lips feeling frustrated because sometimes Marissa's brain was so slow to catch up the whole situation. "No Marissa, I mean we never date each other…"

Oh, I actually have a picture of their graduation's day. Would you like to see it?
