Mr. Fiancé

Micky dragged Marissa, "We need to talk."

A few steps forward, Marissa's hand was held by Blake. "Let's settle your mom's surgery first."

Micky sighed in anger. He let go of Marissa's hand and couldn't agree more with Blake. Even though he was mad at his sister for suggesting marriage in return for borrowing the money, they needed to settle their mother's surgery first.

"She has been here since yesterday?" Blake was shocked. He thought they had transferred her to a room.

"No vacancy for an economic grade room and no, we arrived around one in the morning." Marissa explained. They couldn't afford to put her in a room that was higher than economic so they had been hesitating until that moment.

Blake walked to the counter right away. He talked to them for about ten minutes and was seen filing up a form before coming back.

"I've settled the registration, they will move her in no time." He looked at her tired and pale face. Seeing that her condition was no better than yesterday's night, his hand moved unconsciously to her forehead. "Your fever…"

Micky didn't notice that. Seeing Blake's concerned eyes, he removed his palm from Marissa's forehead and put his instead. "Why don't you tell me?" Micky was surprised when he felt the high temperature of his sister's forehead.

"I myself didn't know that I still didn't recover from the fever." She giggled in that awkward situation.

"Go back home and rest…" Blake thought that he could help settle everything here. "Both of you…you must have been so tired."

"No, it is okay. I will stay here." Marissa insisted. After all, Blake was a stranger.

"Then, let's see a doctor first, since we are already in the hospital." Blake wouldn't stop there. He was worried. He thought her fever had subsided yesterday but it seemed like it was getting worse.

"I can take care of my sister." Micky interrupted. His eyes staring straight at him. Honestly, he never wanted to suggest borrowing the money from him because he was afraid his sister would be bound like this. But, there was no other option for them.

Blake nodded. He really didn't want to argue with his future brother in law. Micky was kind of hard to approach but he was sure he had a soft spot that he could capture. Well, to capture the heart of a woman, he needed to capture the hearts of their family's member too.

"Have you eaten?" Blake once again started the conversation that went silent for a few seconds.

"Not yet." Marissa answered frankly. She was hungry. The last meal she had was a slice of pizza that she couldn't even finish because of Blake.

"Ah really…" He turned around thinking where he should go to get them breakfast. "Wait here, I will try to get us breakfast." He gave him a feeble smile that all of a sudden made Marissa's heart race.

'Stop it stupid heart! What is this? That is his normal smile. Why would I be shaken by that?' She thought to herself while looking at Blake's back walking out of the emergency department.

"Sis…" Micky called her and instantly stopped her from staring at Blake.

"Huh?" She turned right away and smiled, covering her action that she thought had been seen by Micky.

"Let's go see a doctor." He was ready to walk away when Marissa refused.

"No, just go and buy me paracetamol." Marissa didn't think her fever was that bad. They were overreacting. She just needed to take medicine and it would go away.

"Sure?" He asked to confirm.

She firmly nodded and assured him that she was okay.

Blake, who was walking to his car, stopped and pulled out his phone. The things that nurses at the counter explained to him bothered him a lot.

Domestic violence? He knew Marissa's father was totally a loser. Their company that could have survived ten years ago went bankrupt because of his womaniser behaviour. Henry spent the company's money without even thinking of the consequences and in the end their family suffered. Creditors came knocking on their door and they managed to survive by selling their house, their car and everything that they could to pay at least half of the debt.

Dialling numbers, Blake waited for the call to be connected. "Hello…"

"Yes sir…" Doma, his assistant that he hired for the side jobs, answered the call.

"I need you to find one person and gather everything that you can about him. I will send his info through messenger." Blake gave him his order and they talked for a few minutes more before he hung up.

Entering the car, he thought for a while. He never expected Marissa to blurt about marriage that easy and honestly he didn't like how it turned out. It was like she was being forced because of her situation.

He could just grab the opportunity and make her his but after what happened last night, he really couldn't. He felt like his morals were at the lowest level. He should work hard and make her fall in love with him first.

The car sped off to the busy morning road. He didn't know if he was glad this thing happened on Sunday but at least he could be there for her today.

A long line of people was queuing to get the well known porridge in this famous restaurant in town. He sighed. He was thinking of getting a bowl for Marissa since she was sick but perhaps he needed to go around and search at the other place.

"Sir…" Somebody greeted him.

He frowned, couldn't recognise the person who was walking towards him.

"What are you doing here sir? Is there any surprise inspection today?" The man who was wearing a blue shirt, complete with a necktie smiled.

"Oh no. I am thinking of buying porridge but the line is too long." He came here as this branch was the nearest from the hospital.

"Porridge?" The man felt curious. Instead of other dishes, Blake chose to buy porridge. "Maybe I could help?"

"Ah can you?" Blake's eyes slowly fall down to a name tag at the shirt pocket. He then realised he was the manager of this restaurant.

"Of course, for you sir." The man smiled, "Let's go, you can wait inside."

Blake felt so relieved. Just now he never thought of using his privilege but he guessed he was lucky when the manager came and solved the problem for him.

He entered the restaurant with every eyes that were lined up staring sharply at him, being dissatisfied. They must have cursed him in their mind for cutting the queue.

"Wow…what a surprise. I am seeing the hardest person to meet here."

The voice that reached his ears the moment he entered the private waiting room made him sighed.

"Good morning Mr. Fiancé." Larisa smiled, greeted him well.
