Indifference

After taking his little detour Sigmund headed to an empty alleyway. While he was walking, Sigmund noticed that a few people were following him. The sound of footsteps couldn't be heard, as there were a lot of other noises and those following him seem to be able to silence their footsteps. But then a bit of the shadow of the stalkers could be seen from time to time.

"So how long are you going to follow me?"

"..."

The people following remained silent, which made Sigmund look around the empty alleyway. He then started to tap the hilt of his sword as he continued to talk.

"So you're going to keep hiding is that it?"

"..."

"Well, if you want to play that way then-" Sigmund moved from his spot disappearing from sight. One of the people following Sigmund was stunned to see his target disappear. He still couldn't understand how Sigmund knew he was being followed.

He and his team all had abilities that were great for stealth missions. He, in particular, was pretty much made for this. Not only did he gain the ability to blend with whatever he touches to hide, but he also used to be a spy from the Southern Union.

So he thought that following a kid was going to be an easy job. Still, even though he lost sight of Sigmund he didn't panic and continued to remain perfectly blended into the background. As long as he hasn't confirmed that Sigmund has left the area he wouldn't move an inch.

His other teammates seem to be doing the same thing and kept themselves hidden. 'I guess I did train them right.' Most of his current teammates were kids of the current generation, which relied heavily on their supernatural abilities. But based on how they reacted to this unexpected situation, the leader of the group was quite pleased with their progress.

After waiting for a few more minutes, Sigmund suddenly reappeared at the same spot where he disappeared.

"Even though you guys made that initial mistake, you people are pretty well trained. Hmph, well since you guys don't seem like you'll do anything, I don't really care if you follow me."

Sigmund no longer bothered with his stalkers and was about to walk away. It was at that moment each one of those tailing Sigmund received a message from their employer through their earpieces.

"How about you guys attack him?" The leader of the group was about to reject doing what his employer asked, but then the employer added something. "The person who's able to take him down will be given triple the original payment."

When the leader of the group heard what was said he wanted to curse at his employer. Doing something like that was going against the agreed-upon terms of the operation. Knowing that the person they were tailing was the son of Lyner was a bit unnerving for him, but seeing the move he did before made the leader a little frightened.

...

In the past back in the days when humanity had the leeway of fighting against each other, the leader met Lyner. He had witnessed Lyner Resteti massacring a battalion of soldiers from the Granado Empire. At the time he was a spy that infiltrated that battalion to gather information about the elite soldiers in that said battalion.

Yet even such a powerful battalion was annihilated with ease by that smiling battle junkie. The leader could never forget that day when he thought he would die. He saw the smiling Lyner was about to strike him down, but before the blade touched him Lyner stopped then frowned and spoke to him.

"Fighting a weak opponent like you, after killing all those strong ones is just going dampen my great mood." After saying that Lyner walked away. So unlike most of the people in the dome, the leader doesn't remember Lyner as a hero. He can only remember Lyner's original nickname during the age of mercenaries, the monster of Berdonia.

...

The only reason he accepted this job, even after knowing that the target was the son of the monster of Berdonia, was because the employer said that they only needed to monitor Sigmund. So the moment the employer spoke about paying triple the amount of money, the leader wanted to warn his men not to do anything. Yet he was too late to say anything since all of his men rushed forward like idiots.

Well, it was to be expected since most of them were only doing this job because of the money. The leader could only click his tongue in frustration as he remained hidden.

...

Sigmund couldn't help but frown as he saw the people stalking him, were now suddenly attacking him. Based on their posture and how they held their weapons, it would seem that they weren't just some random amateurs. It was also obvious they were pros since their shadowing technique was pretty above average. Even after provoking them a bit, they didn't attack, so it was perplexing to see them suddenly do this stupid random thing.

'One, two, three, four, five.' Seeing the approaching five masked figures, Ren simply waved his gloved hands a bit in the air and the five stopped rushing forward. The five were now entangled with barely visible wires that were now wrapped around their joints. Every time they tried to move the five masked figures felt the wires tightening.

The leader who saw the scene before him was so scared it took everything he had to stop himself from trembling in fear, for this scene reminded him of that day he met Lyner.

...

"Hey the two of you, aren't you going to help your friends over here?" Sigmund waited for a few minutes to see if there would be a response. Since, the number of shadows he saw that were following him were seven people and he only caught five.

The leader who heard what Sigmund said was surprised for a moment, but then he came to a realization. The employer was also following Sigmund.

...

After waiting for a couple of minutes but hearing no response Sigmund sighed and called the police.

...

A couple of blocks away in the roof of a building Riku was watching Sigmund using his binoculars. After seeing the police apprehend the people he hired, he quickly destroyed the earpiece he was wearing.

"That was disappointing." As he mumbled that to himself, Riku jumped down the roof into an empty lot. There he went out and joined the flow of people walking on the sidewalk. While walking away from the scene, Riku started writing on his notepad.
