"Hello everyone, the name's Liam, I'm the teacher in charge of battle simulations. Alright then now that I have introduced myself, I will now explain to you guys about classes." After the students quieted down a bit a smiling middle-aged male teacher went up the podium and started to give a rundown of how things work in this specialized school.
"In your stay here for the next three years, all of you will be divided into four classes. A, B, C, and D which class you are assigned to will be determined by your overall performance. A-class is where the students that have excelled in the entrance examination will be placed. Obviously D-class is where the students that barely passed were placed."
"I'm not saying all this to discourage you students, in fact, I'm telling you all this to motivate you. The class that you are in isn't permanent. It will change multiple times in the course of these three years. Some of you might fall from your position, some of you might advance. It would all depend on how much effort you put in."
"There are various ways for one to advance to the next class. The easiest would be to challenge someone from the higher classes. If you're able to win you get to replace that person in that class. The challengee cannot reject the challenger. Though if you lose, your overall ranking will drop by one. So if you're ranking is dead last in the whole year, and you challenge someone and lose, you will no longer be eligible to challenge anyone until the next semester. You can only challenge a person whose ranking is above your own. Also, you can only challenge the same person twice in a year and the issuing of a challenge can only be done once a month for each person. If you guys are thinking about waiting for the other party to tire out due to excessive challenges then think again. The person that was challenged in a week cannot be challenged by anyone until that week is over."
Some of the students who already thought of tricking others to continuously challenge the higher-ranked students clicked their tongues.
"Another way to advance would be to get high grades in your classes. Once you reach a certain amount you can enter the class above you and the ones who get the lowest score by the end of the semester will be demoted to the class below them."
When the teacher explained how to reach a higher class, the freshmen started to look at each other. They were trying to assess which one they could bring down in a fight. Yet even in this kind of situation, the majority of students didn't even dare look at the Samarita twins, Ria, Roland and some were even hesitating on Sigmund.
"Now I can guess what you're thinking, what will happen to the person that has the lowest score in the year after the semester ends."
'No one was thinking that!' Almost all the students had the exact same thought. Liam wasn't bothered by the stares the students were giving him and continued talking.
"Well if you happen to have the lowest score at the end of the semester, then you will be forced to transfer into a regular high school. Not only that. you will also be unable to become a hunter. Though you could still try and become a police officer."
The moment they heard that the person with the lowest score will basically be kicked out, the students who thought this would all be about their powers started to sweat.
"The one with the lowest score could bounce back if that person can beat the highest-ranking student in a battle. But if you already used your right to challenge in that month against that person then there's no way out for you. Of course, if you die then you're also out."
When the mention of the possibility of dying was said some of the students reacted violently.
"Hey teach, no one said anything about dying!"
"Yeah, he's right we're just students you're going to allow us to die?!"
"That's right! I didn't sign up for this!"
The students that only came here for easy fame and money were starting to complain. Seeing the reactions of her fellow classmates Ria couldn't help but scoff, but as she looked around she also noticed some students with different kinds of expressions. It would seem not all of them were hopeless.
"Oh, what did you expect, that we would hold your hands all the way? Do you people know how many students die before graduation? Every year since the founding of this school at least twenty students fail to live until graduation day. In the beginning, more students have died, it's so much fewer nowadays. Don't you students know of this?"
A couple of students present thought of that particular news as some sort of propaganda to make them think twice before coming to the specialized schools. Other students thought that was a lie, just a test to see who were brave enough to join. Most of the students didn't really care if the deaths were true or not since that won't change the fact that after they graduate and start working outside the dome death would be an everyday companion.
"Did you think the document that we had you and your parents' sign at the beginning to be a joke? If so then this is your chance to back out and leave. One warning, once you leave now there are no more second chances."
The students that weren't expecting to die were hesitating to leave since they didn't want to leave first. So they wanted to wait until someone left first. A student that couldn't take the pressure anymore stood up and left the room. After that, some of the other students followed while looking dejected as they left the premise. Some of those that stayed also wanted to leave but stayed since this was there only shot to become something. Others stayed because they had no other choice.
"So, is that all? This is the last call if you don't leave now, then the only other way to leave is if you flunk out. I'm going to count to ten if you guys don't leave now... Then you either leave as a failure or as a dead body. One, two, three," Liam continued to count and the students that were hesitating no longer hesitated and left. Once the count was over Liam looked around and smiled at the remaining students.
After that, Liam continued to explain other things to watch out for. After a few more pointers Liam finished his talk. The principal then said a few closing remarks and the opening ceremony ended.
