The natural liar

"Richard Sun..." Upon hearing the man's name, Matthew Xi nodded his head and whispered.

"Big bro, that guy is really insane! I don't understand why he's so obsessed with my friend — even his mother is joining in! Jeez! What a troublesome person!" Being carried away, Enzo Li blurted out of frustration.

However, Matthew Xi said nothing anymore as he resumed on his tracks. Seeing his cousin act as if he was unaffected, Enzo Li rushed to follow him.

Well, Matthew Xi's reaction was normal because he has nothing to do with it. At the very least, Enzo Li was certain his second cousin would be wary of the said company. In this case, the Sun Corporation would have zero chances of working with Xi Corporation.

Unbeknownst to Enzo Li, Matthew Xi had a different take on it.

"Big brother, are you leaving?" Asking the obvious, Enzo Li wanted to confirm if Matthew Xi was really leaving.

"Enzo," Matthew Xi stopped in his tracks, turning to face Enzo Li.

"Ah?" Staring at Matthew Xi's usual front, Enzo Li blinked his eyes many times.

"Do you have a plan on staying here for tonight?" Out of nowhere, this was the question that assailed Enzo Li's ears, rendering him speechless for a second.

"Uhm..."

"Did Zoey ask you to stay for the night?" Blinking once, Matthew Xi's temperament gradually turned colder. It made Enzo Li felt a bit hesitant to answer. But more than that, Enzo Li creased his brows, realizing Matthew Xi just mentioned Zoey's name.

Enzo Li didn't remember mentioning a name. Hence, how did Matthew Xi knew that the friend he was talking about was Zoey?

"Big bro, you know Zoey?"

Despite the slipped of the tongue, Matthew Xi's was unfazed. Staring at Enzo Li dead in the eye, Matthew Xi lied without batting an eye. "You mentioned your friend's name is Zoey."

"I did?" Confused, Enzo Li tried to remember when he mentioned Zoey's name. Alas, he couldn't recall!

"When you're ranting," 'Helping' him remember, Matthew Xi shamelessly continued with the lie.

"Ohh..." Since Enzo Li often tattle too much than he should have, he nodded his head. Despite that, he could not recall dropping Zoey's name. Regardless, Enzo Li still believed Matthew Xi.

After all, there's no way Matthew Xi and Zoey knew each other. Knowing Zoey, if she ever met his second cousin, she would target him; and knowing Matthew Xi's temper, Enzo Li was certain Z Image Group would be done for.

"I just thought that's improper to talk about a person anonymously." Matthew Xi rarely lies, yet he sounded and looked natural lie after another.

Just how far would he take to keep this affair a secret? It was not like he was purposely doing it. It just... he couldn't explain why and he ended up keeping it a secret, anyway.

'Big bro trying to be polite? That's new.' Peering at the unfazed Matthew Ci, Enzo Li thought inwardly. Matthew Xi was never rude, but he wasn't that polite either.

Enzo Li could never recall a moment with Matthew Xi being bothered with people's name. Unless that person was truly remarkable or left an impact on him, Matthew Xi would not remember that person's name. Talk about a person that was bad at names.

"Ohh, okay..." Nodding, Enzo Li didn't probe anymore. He just let it as it was.

"Are you?" Since Enzo Li bought the series of lies, Matthew Xi returned to the initial question: would Enzo Li stay for the night with Zoey?

"Err, maybe? I don't know. She's hates staying in the hospital alone and she has no one to take care of her." Enzo Li shrugged his shoulders after a sigh slipped from his mouth.

Matthew Xi opened his mouth, but pressed them closed again before he nodded. He wanted to ask about her family or other friends, but he stopped. "I see... too bad though,"

"Too bad?"

"Nothing. Someone I know is offering me the limited edition car they were about to launch, but I have no time to go. I thought you might be interested, but it seems you can't—"

"Wow, when?! I'll go!" Interrupting Matthew Xi midway, Enzo Li's eyes gleamed in excitement.

"You will?" Arching his brows, Matthew Xi studied the thrilled front of his second cousin. "How about your friend?" He added, reminding about Zoey.

"Ohh..." For a second, Enzo Li hesitated. He couldn't leave Zoey with her current situation, could he? Although Zoey often irritates the heck out of him, he wasn't that heartless to leave her alone.

"The show will start in the morning in country A. If you want to attend, you have to prepare yourself for a twelve-hour flight." Showing lack of interest, Matthew Xi noted before he turned his back on Enzo Li and left.

He sensed that Enzo Li was about to follow him. Hence, Matthew Xi gestured that there was no need to send him off. Little did Enzo Li know, Matthew Xi clenched his jaw when he turned his back against him.
