Thanks for this honesty, Mag and Nela :) And I'm not surprised by this because that's how Ashley is supposed to be. Some will love her no matter what, a few will understand, others will sympathize, and then for a few, there's this nagging feeling that there's something not to like about her. Why? Because Ashley operates in an extremely high-stakes world where "too much" is her strategic way of survival. Be it for literal life and death, or just for her sanity. So, even in the quiet moments, it shows. :)

Thank you, and yes, I like reading the different perspectives on each character because it allows me to know whether they are working or not (as annoying or likable as they are). As for your insight about Ashley, it's right on. Almost all female leads I write have a support system one way or another (starting from Seraphina from my first book to Lola.) It's the first time I'm writing someone who has zero support system through and through. and someone who barely has any access to any kind of privilege (unlike Penny, who still got to a proper school that gave her a headstart in her second chance.) Thank you for this, my dearest blessana. <3

This is all before Ashley snapped. In the current timeline, Nikki didn't have any chance to go back. You can, in a way, Ashley subconsciously blocked the woman's entry from all points on top of everything else. In the previous one, Nikki is back quicker since the ambush, which is part of the first part of the story — Liza and Tommy mini arc— where Lucian was supposedly injured. (adding his worsening condition since in his first life, he didn't quit smoking) :) It's all part of the motive, cause, and effect on not just Ashley but on a bigger scale since I'm expanding the focus. There will be more details as we enter the next big arc that will lead to the end of the volume. And all characters that are slolwy crawling out of the woodwork will either play a huge part in the current volume or start the next one. :) I haven't been reading comments because I was trying to catch up with everything that needs to be done when I was sick, but I hope I'm not late with this.
